Scope of Work: Convert existing large family room in to a bedroom and a smaller family room, re-carpet and add wood floor to the entire house, roof and deck repair, remove and install new windows and matched existing siding and paint, install a new wood sliding patio door, paint front walkway.
I interviewed and received at least 6-8 other bids from contractors from other "Lists" and I wasn't happy with any of them for various different reasons. Ronnie at Dwelling Construction was open and straight forward.
Right off the bat Ronnie at Dwelling Construction made me feel very comfortable. One of my major pre job requirement was a comprehensive bid with clear break downs for each line item in the bid. I was assured by almost all of my other bids that "Of Course we'll do that." But few of them ever did. Dwelling Constructions bid was clear and very detailed. The last thing that sealed the deal for me is that Dwelling Construction was a certified installer for the brand of windows (Brother's Home Improvement Windows) we used retro fit some windows when we initially purchased the house. This was key because then our new and 2 year old windows would match in style.
Ronnie's background is both in construction and interior design. Therefore when we discussed various parts of the project he just wasn't looking just to "GET IT DONE" he was always looking at things with an aesthetic eye.
Once the contract was signed the process started promptly and all of the work was done with skill and care. At the beginning Ronnie suggested that I go and initially pull the permits since the El Segundo Permit office was close to our house and it would save us a bit of money by us doing that part. (wow, saving money from the start! cool!). Once the permits were obtained the rest of the process was easy. Ronnie would go over his different bids for the various subcontractors and together we'd choose the one that worked best for us. Having that extra bit of information and input was awesome. Dwelling Construction was also very conscious of our budget. I am happy to say that we pretty much stayed on budget. Any additional items or cost were discussed well in advanced and we were never in the position where we HAD to do something extra. There were always options.
I would also like to note that Dwelling Construction and their crews were always prompt courteous, and the kept a very clean and safe work area. Safety was a concern for us because we have a 2 year old daughter and didn't want her wondering into the work area and injuring herself.
End of the day I was very happy with my re-modeling experience with Dwelling Construction. Dwelling Construction always went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with the quality of the job. We are very happy with our re-model. It feels like we have a new house.
I would highly recommend Ronnie and Dwelling Construction for any type of remodeling. read more
