I have a 4-unit, and learned the hard way if you need windows, use a window company with professional installers, not a general contractor. American Reliable has excellent customer service, and the installation exceeded my expectations. When they started to remove the old nasty window molding, I asked them to save it as I thought I would try to paint it and reinstall it. That's when I learned they would also be installing new molding!! I was not expecting this, and it is way (way) nicer than the old molding, and pre-primed. They caulked everything inside and out, and cleaned the windows, inside and out, with Windex. They also did a great job replacing a termite damaged window sill before installing the new window. This was my first time purchasing replacement windows so I had a lot of questions. First of all, Elliot made a visit to take measurements prior to giving an estimate while other window companies refused to do so because my order of 4 windows wasn't worth their time. Sylvia prepared several bids of different types of windows because I was just learning what I needed. The time that they invested made me feel comfortable with my purchase. My guess is that they spent more time on my order than most... but it is what won my business. It's a good investment for them because I have a lot more windows to replace and I plan to use them! I cannot beging to express my disappointment with this company. My sliding glass door broke in January and I needed a replacement glass. I called the company who originally replaced all my windows naturally and they said they needed to come measure the glass that took 2 weeks to accomplish. Next we had to order the glass I said okay let's order the glass of which I had to pay half up front no problem. These people told me that it was going to take 4-6 weeks to get the glass from the manufacturer. I've been waiting 5 months now. I'm talking directly to the company now stop giving me bullshit that it's plygems fault. I order a simple pane of glass. I keep getting told oh we should have it with a week. Absolute baldface liars. You were a good company all you are is trash now. I paid for the glass I'm still waiting for since March and nobody responds to my text messages. As a returning customer you should want to help me more not ignore me and act like I don't exist. read more

Update: Elliot Berookhim reached out to me to prove how unreliable this company is. That portion is appended to the end. I ordered windows for my entire condo, my first purchase. I was given a 6-8 week estimate that took about 4 months. Whenever I called, they said they would call back with an update, and never did. They finally called to postpone my original install date until the rain stopped, which made sense, although I was upset that I hadn't heard anything up to that point. 3 weeks after the rain stopped, I get a call asking me to confirm the style of windows, and confirm the order on the phone. 3 weeks after they were supposedly ready to install, they are confirming what windows they need to make. After another month, they call to schedule another window appointment. I took a day of PTO so I could be at home to let everyone in, and they don't show up. They cancel the installation 15 MINUTES before the scheduled installation time because they STILL didn't have the windows. They came the next week once they had the windows, and they installed the wrong window. The one they had called on the phone to confirm, again, and they still got it wrong. I called during the installation about it, and was told that after calling me to-reconfirm the style, the sales rep told them to do the other style of window, without notifying me or contacting me in any way. So I'm left with no options other than an 8x8 foot hole in my exterior wall, or thousands of dollars worth of windows I didn't order, with no refund for the incorrect product. The install was destructive to say the least. Aside from the general lack of attention such as leaving blinds and the casing on the ground, the original window of the large one was removed by breaking it into tiny shards and sanding down glass to metal using a power sander, which sent sparks and tiny glass shards all over the inside of my condo, and was not cleaned up. I'm still finding shards of broken class in corners several months later. The window quality is good, and you can get them from a better company. "Reliable" they are not. UPDATE: The above was enough for a 1 star rating, however Elliot Berookhim decided to follow up with me to "make things right". He claimed he had taken over in February and was trying to fix up poor operations, which I certainly understand in my own experience, and appreciated the gesture. He offered me an Amazon gift card for my time and inconvenience since they couldn't swap the window, and said he couldn't make me undo the review, but would appreciate updating it, which I said I was happy to do since I respect the position and effort he's putting in. I verified him on LinkedIn to see that he had indeed started recently. He sent an Amazon card to me, and I thanked him, and updated my review to include only facts, and a 2 paragraph intro explaining that I increased the rating because it's rare for a company to put effort into changing their entire operations, and that was respectable. Elliot immediately changed his LinkedIn back to when he actually started 3 1/2 years ago, switched the recipient of the amazon gift card to himself so that I couldn't redeem it. Why? Because I didn't delete the review entirely, I merely spent 20 minutes re-writing it to praise him, and that was apparently not worth it for him. Here is my review based on my experience... Positives: Competitive pricing Installers were professional and did nice work. Seem nice on the phone. Offered a modest credit for pushing installation for 3 weeks, but not terribly generous considering inconvenience. Negatives: My installation was pushed 3 weeks due to a mix up with their manufacturer. When they installed, they were missing 3 screens and a latch on a screen slider. Two weeks later, they installed 2 screens and insisted I pay remaining balance even though the job was not complete. Two weeks after that...still waiting on a screen. Left a message, no return call the next day. Called, they said they were closing (an hour before closing) and promised to call back first thing the next day. The next day...did not call at all and the issue is still not resolved. Finally got a call and was notified they would install the screen in 2 weeks (supplier and shipping). Assuming everything goes according to plan, the job will be completely finished two months after originally scheduled. read more

Sorry buddy, your quote was a little high and the other guy quoted me over a grand less INCLUDING an upgraded energy package, sculptured grids, two casement windows for fire egress compliance (everything else is single hung) AND fancy window screens. SAME BRAND AND STYLE. Trying to tell me that you now have a 20% off special sounds nice and all, but more than that, I REALLY didn't appreciate your pushy and preachy attitude. I'm new, not stupid. Here's a tip I learned when I used to work in sales: bow out gracefully, let the customer know that you hope they keep you in mind for future projects, and that you're always willing to work a deal. Don't get all high and mighty saying how I could have saved more money with you, it's too late now, and whatever. American Reliable Windows is a great company. We are incredibly satisfied with our windows and new sliding door. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests. I have to say that of the six different companies that I had come to the house to give an estimate, American Reliable Windows were the only ones who were honest, and polite (the office people, sales and the installers). These folks were the only ones that showed us the building code on the ladbs website and why our current windows weren't to code. To add to this, they had a great financing plan that we used, that was unlike any of the other companies' offerings. Their communication is great! Someone always picked up the phone whenever I called the office or when I called my sales person. On July 16, 2013 a crew of three led by Robert installed six double pane windows and two double pane sliding glass patio doors in a little more than 4 hours. They did an excellent job. The crew showed up on time, were professional and very hard working, They knew what they were doing, worked like a well-oiled and experienced team, and when completed my house looked like a new home. The new windows and patio doors are very classy looking. I knew they would do a good job. They exceeded my very high expectations. My experience with American Reliable Windows was outstanding all they way through. From my first contact with John, to Ark who came to my house to make the measurements and write out the contract, to the next crew who verified the measurements, to the staff in the office who kept me up to date on the progress on the construction of the windows and last and most importantly the crew who installed the windows. Everything went very smoothly and everyone was very professional, courteous and pleasant.. The crew removed the old windows and patio doors and cleaned up whatever debris there was from the installation. And if that wasn't enough the price was very reasonable and competitive. Great company and service! I always had air leaking out of my windows and there was a little air leaking under my french windows. A friend referred me to them for a consult and John came out and was very knowlegable about windows and what i could do. He also said I would save on AC/ energy during summer to keep the heat out, and in LA we need it!! The prices are reasonable and I already had my install on the french windows and some wall windows. Great experience from start to finish. I called several companies for quotes and American Reliable Windows was, by far, the most professional (and responsive) of the bunch. We checked out their showroom last year and had spoken to John. He was attentive, upfront and most importantly, he was not pushy. Fast forward to several months later and I gave them a call. After he sent me the revised quote, he called to give me a tip on how to save more money by checking out available rebate programs. How nice! We placed the order and the office said it would take 7-10 business days for the windows to arrive and that we would be contacted then to set up an installation date. On the 9th day, we got a call from their office: "How would you like your new windows installed tomorrow?" On the day of the installation, it was about 90 degrees outside. They were scheduled to arrive between 9am-12pm and I was told it may take a half day to install. I want to kick myself for forgetting their names (Omar and George?) but the two installers arrived at 9am, got to work right away and deftly installed 5 windows in under 2 hours. They did 7 windows. 10% down when u sign on and agree on installment. 1st 1/2 down when they come out for measurements (1-2 weeks later). Balance due when windows installed and inspected (4-5 weeks later). Everything was done as promised and within time frame promised. Installed and done same day and cleaned up after themselves.
