I hate writing bad reviews but had such a negative experience here. My nails are so ugly after spending over two hours here, I seriously almost cried. I was shocked because of the good reviews and specifically was excited to work with David, who has great reviews here. Firstly, it's a rare treat for me to get my nails done because I'm a new mom. I came in with a grown-out BIAB manicure from a different salon and asked for a builder gel manicure with a cats eye design. David said this was ok and that he would do the builder gel, then another manicurist would do the cats eye. He started filing my nails and immediately cut them down to the quick even though I asked him to leave some length. He was super rough with the skin around my nails, which now looks worse than when I came in. Then the plan somehow changed and he started doing my cats eye design even though he said he didn't know how to. He insisted that a black gel base would make the color look better, even though I chose a light cats eye color. The result of this effort was that my nails looked like black buttons with chunky white glitter on them. He insisted that the gel and magnets were "not working" and that's why he couldn't get the cats eye to work. Then he suggested I simply leave with the black color, which looked awful and sooo different from what I picked. I asked to remove the black and he agreed, then suggested that I simply "come back tomorrow." At that point I had been there almost two hours with nothing to show for it so I just asked to do a basic gel color. This also took ages and was super messy. I had to ask him multiple times to clean off gel that spilled onto my skin, which is dangerous! Even after that, the manicure looks extremely sloppy and thick. He kept filing and filing my nails even after I pointed out that I was in pain. After over two hours, the results were terrible and they could tell I wasn't happy. The owner and David were defensive when I pointed out this was not what we agreed to. David even argued that it was my fault, saying that he could have served two customers in the time it took to do my nails. However, there were no other customers to serve--and I have zero control over how long it takes him to do things. I still left a full tip and paid for the service despite the awful experience and the fact that they somehow tried to blame me for the outcome. I had high hopes but will not be back. read more

One of the hardest things when you're new to an area is finding a good nail salon. Let me tell you I found it in this place! I had a previous powder set with designs that I needed removed and I wanted a new more simple set to replace it. It was only an hour before they closed. The owner was available and had someone help me o remove the previous set with such ease. Most people do powder removal sort of rough and I feel like I have to walk them through how to be gentler. Not an issue here, they were both gentle, fast and so accommodating. I felt so catered to and most of all my nails were so symmetrical. David has a system that makes sure your nails are the same on both hands. We all know all nail salons are not created equally in this way. My nails are not just even but beautiful. I have gotten so many compliments for such a simple design. I have saved it to visit whenever I am in town. If you're in the DMV and don't mind driving to Bethesda its worth it. They also have a parking lot right next door that is so cheap and makes the whole trip worth it honestly. So much more affordable than when I am in LA, better service and most importantly a job well done!!! read more

Found this salon on Yelp and glad I chose this establishment. I didn't have an appointment but called ahead and was able to get a mani and pedi. I was just a 10 minutes walk over and they said to come on over. Had a gel pedicure that looks great and very relaxing. Next was Ombré mani and I'd be remiss if I did t start with the attention to detail David showed. Every nail, every dip, every coat and the careful application of the ombré was impressive. You can tell the passion David has for his craft. You can't find this kind of talent and heart anywhere. So if you're wondering where to go, or if you're looking for a change try them out. You won't regret it. As a side note, ask David about his life. Very interesting and there wasn't enough time to cover it. I paid a crazy amount of money for a gel overlay and French color. It's horrible. It was rushed, ugly, and looks sloppy as hell. I am a business owner myself and I would never be unpleasant to anyone. I  have the utmost respect for service industry employees, and have a full staff of service providers that I support. Also. I appreciate and understand the importance of great customer service and you literally took a haircut during my appointment and I did not complain. Additionally, there were two outstanding issues at your salon. 1. The use of an illegal cheese grater tool to perform pedicures, and the use of  a used disposable pumice sponge  that are made for single use. I had to request a new sponge and to not use the cheese grater.. 2. The pictures speaks for themselves. From business owner to business owner, There is only  one real solution to accomodate an unsatisfied customer and that is to offer to fix the problem, instead you totally disregarded my experience and then blamed me for my nails looking really bad, when we both know I was very kind to you and your staff and optimistically tried to collaborate with you to get my nails to an acceptable standard.  What I didnt allow was to be subjected to poor hygiene business practices. I wish my experience was better, but the reality is that I left your salon unsatisfied. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - DO NOT GO! Let's correct the narrative. I never planned to avoid paying and I did, in fact, pay the full $93. The issue was the quality of the work and how the situation was handled. Not refusal to pay. You're framing this as if I was trying to scam your business, which is simply false. I attempted to use a card that was given to me for the service. When you declined it due to your policy, I found another way to pay. That is not someone "planning not to pay." There was not a room full of witnesses as claimed. More importantly, dismissing my concerns by calling the work "perfect" does not make it so. Quality is not determined by the owner defending his technician -- it's determined by the actual result. Threatening to call the police over a payment method dispute was unnecessary and escalatory. DAVID DAVID DAVID! He is such a perfectionist! I do dip on my hands and those are my real nails. He takes delicate care of them so they grow strongly and easily. When they are longer, I have him do them almond shaped with onbre. He can also add tips to get the length you want. On my feet, I use their healthy bioseaweed gel polish and I did 4 coats of the white color so that it was completely opaque and it looks fantastic and is healthier! WORST hair experience I have ever had in my life. My long hair was down to my hip bones, and I asked for about 3-4 inches trimmed off to get rid of split ends before my maternity photoshoot. The stylist repeated "3-4 inches for split ends" to indicate he understood. He then proceeded to cut my hair with it all draped behind me, so I couldn't see what he was doing, until my friend who was with me walked behind me and noticed that he had: (1) cut 12 INCHES off, (2) made the right and left sides completely UNEVEN, and (3) left a huge CLIFF between the front framing layers and rest of the hair. It was as if a child had cut my hair. When my friend and I politely started to point out these errors, he started BLAMING ME, claiming my previous haircut was so bad, that there was no way he could have done anything else than what he did. Then, he pulled out his phone to show me how amazing his haircuts were for other women and showed me multiple photos of blonde women. This was maybe the worst part -- I am Chinese, and he was an elderly East Asian man, and he was actively blaming and scolding me for his actions. I was speechless, and my friend ended up paying for it, so I wouldn't have to. My friend then took me across the street to Salon Gerard, where a very lovely and talented stylist named Chenelle fixed the unevenness and cliffs on the spot as a walk-in (I highly recommend Chenelle!), but I had to pay an extra $100+ for it. I then had to pay another $300+ for extensions to get my hair back to its original length for my photoshoot. So, this horrible haircut took an entire 12 inches off my hair and cost me an extra $400+ to fix. read more

I've been here two times now. My most recent visit I tried dip nails for the first time. I had no idea how it worked. My Nail Tech was Jesse and she went above and beyond to explain it to me. She explained I would need an extension which would cost an extra $10 in order to get the shape I wanted. She also explained to get a blue French tip design I wanted it would be an extra $25 for gel nail polish, and when she saw my hesitancy, she explained she could recreate the look of the French tip using colorful dip powder for only an additional five dollars. She didn't have to do this and I really appreciate that she went out of her way to do so as it meant more work for her. I think my nails came out much better than I could've expected. She took time to add extra layers to make sure they were strong. Honestly just really want above and beyond. I will be coming back here in a month or so when they start to grow out. Just really excellent customer service. Walk-ins are welcome. However, I suggest calling a little bit ahead to see how busy they are. But overall they're very accommodating. The owner is bonkers and shifty. I realized the whole idea was to just get me there, start taking the dip off, and then make me see someone other than the person I requested, pay, or leave with the dip partly removed. He ignores the fact that I offered to come another time since he was busy! He got his "feelings" hurt when I said it wasn't ok to start taking the dip off and then say, I either had to see someone else or pay $15. He embarrassed and humiliated me by telling me I couldn't come back and making a scene because I objected to being put in a position of either paying $15 or seeing someone else, AFTER I HAD OFFERED TO COME ANOTHER TIME OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I told him numerous times that I understood he had someone else. That WASN'T the problem. It was the manipulation that was the problem and then the scene he created in front of the entire salon.
