THE WORST EXPERIENCE!! This girl Lexi. She sits in the 1st chair when you walk in. I don't recommend it at all. First, when she was filing the nail, she hurt me very hard to the point of drawing blood from my finger and she didn't even apologize, then she continued filing my nails very hard and rude, even the finger that she hurt previously, she continued filing without being careful. At the time I made my appointment I made it very clear that I wanted a regular acrylic and even when I got to the place I repeated that I wanted something regular, when I paid they charged me for acrylic gel and I told them that that was not what I wanted but it was what they had done to me and I had to pay a large amount for something that I did not ask for. the design where it is clearly seen that she made a mistake on a nail where she didn't even bother to fix it, even knowing that they were going to charge me more than what they had told me. Not even the shape is right because I have longer or thinner nails than others. I decided to let her do her work thinking that she still had more to file or fix and that's why I didn't say anything to her at that moment but I was wrong and she didn't do anything right. DEFINITELY NONE OF THAT IS WORTH THE $80 DOLLARS THEY CHARGED ME I am very frustrated by how poorly she did her job because in a few days I am celebrating my baby shower and I went to this place expecting good service because of the great reviews they have. but now I don't even have time to fix the mess she made on my nails shm My little cousin swears she would do a better job for only $65 and she just graduated as a nail tech. Soooo beyond happy with my services here. I made an appointment a week in advance online which was incredibly easy. I wish I could remember who I booked with because she was THE BEST. She sits in the 2nd chair when you walk in. She was so nice and did an excellent job. It was like she could read my mind she shaped everything perfectly. I went on a Saturday and it was easy to park and walk down to the salon, the street parking was also free I guess because it was the weekend. They had good colors to choose from. The receptionist was very friendly and he set up my water for my pedicure. It's a smaller place so it wasn't too crowded. She started my services promptly at my appointment time and didn't take a long time or try to upsell me or anything. She did an amazing shape and really took time to make my nails look great. They are under new management now and their new name is Juve Beauty. This was my 2nd time visiting this salon under the new management. Both times I have had a great experience. The front desk is friendly. The interior is nice and clean. They normally have a baking show on - so don't go hungry :) Lexi did my nails. I got the powder dip manicure. She was great. She listened to me and shaped my nails the way that I liked them. You would think this would be a simple thing, but I can not tell you how many nail technicians do not get that right. Long wait even if you have an appointment. Unhappy staff. And they cut my foot while trimming my nails. Not a good or safe experience.

The nail polish application I got was perfectly fine for what it was, but the price was way too high for what it was. $46 for cutting the nails and putting on polish, but that's without any of the usual exfoliating, lotion, massage whatever. I had paid less a month earlier for that usual full pedicure treatment two blocks away, and never paid so much or gotten such a skimpy pedicure. Not going back. read more

Thumbs up to this salon! I texted the number to request an appointment and they were very responsive. They were able to get me in first thing in the morning on a holiday. I received a deluxe pedicure with gel polish which was amazing. Julie took her time and was very meticulous. I also received an acrylic fill in with color powder. I like to have the color on my hands and feet match so I truly appreciate the fact that they have gel polish that MATCH the powder. Found this place through Yelp when I was looking for a new salon after having neglected my nails for the entire pandemic period! So I decided to get a basic mani-pedi on my natural nails. Here's the rundown on my first visit -- Parking Another reviewer mentioned that there's a parking lot somewhere in the back, but that it's a bit hard to find. I don't really know about that. I was able to get street parking right in front of the entrance. So I didn't end up having to try to figure out where the parking lot is. Salon The salon is a little hidden gem in the Friendship Heights area of DC. Given the location, I was expecting it to be a lot fancier inside than it was. But it was more like the average nail salon, with the same general decor, polish selection, etc. So don't come here expecting hot stone foot massages, fancy towels, or to be offered a glass of cucumber water or wine during your appointment. That said, the salon was very spacious and clean inside -- and it seemed like COVID protocols were being taken seriously, which was a plus. Polish The nail polish selection was decent. There was lots to choose from across a few different brands. I would love for the salon to have more non-toxic and higher-end polish brands. But they did have Zoya, IIRC, and that is the brand I chose. Nail Tech My manicurist was Kevin. Highly recommend him. I found him to be friendly and engaging, a bit of an "open book" and a great conversationalist. We talked about a little of everything, including the pandemic, current events, etc. This is kind of change from my typical nail appointments where -- whether because of a language barrier in the more budget places or a more spa-like setting in the more expensive places -- there isn't really the opportunity to have a long drawn out discussion with the nail tech. This was my first time experiencing that dynamic. But I enjoyed it. Service I'd never had a waterless mani-pedi before, but there's a first time for everything! I didn't know what to expect. But it ended up being just like a mani-pedi at a regular nail salon -- but minus the whole soak-your-nails-in-water step. I think as long as you go in with your hands and feet in relatively good shape (i.e., I had pretreated mine earlier by doing by own pumice scrub in the shower to get most of the dead skin off, for example), a waterless service will work fine. (I struggle to see how it would work as well if you came in with super hard and crusty feet though. So definitely give your feet a little TLC in advance.) But here's the best part of the waterless service though -- your polish actually lasts!!!! For days!!!!! My nails lasted about a week without a chip. And you all know that is UNHEARD OF for a water-soaked natural nail manicure. Typically, I'm lucky to get even a full 24-48 hours before my nail polish has some kind of an issue. Not so here! My fingernails were still going strong days later. They were completely fine until I had to wash my hair today. That's the first time they started looking a little worse for the wear. As for my toes, those also looked great. But my only complaint is that my big toe smudged the very next day after my service. I have no idea why because they should have been dry by that point. But I was trying on a pair of closed-toe heels and when I pulled out one of my feet, my left big toe was smudged. If it weren't for that, my pedicure would have been perfect for an entire week too. Prices I thought the prices were great for the value. It's more expensive than the budget places, but less expensive than some of the ritzier places. Don't forget to check in on Yelp when you get there so you get 10% off your first visit. All in all -- I was pleased with my first visit to this salon. read more

Best nail salon in Bethesda Chevy Chase (possibly the DC and Rockville areas as well). The entire experience is what a nail salon should be but never is, until now. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment asap to relax and you'll never ever want to return to a normal nail salon again. The service is excellent. The prices are reasonable. The salon does not smell like chemicals at all (unlike every other nail salon I've ever been to)! They have a wide variety of quality nail polish colors and gel colors to choose from (all better for your body than the regular stuff). They even make their own custom body butter without parabens or chemical fragrance to massage your hands and feet with. They offer European waterless pedicures (way more fun, relaxing, and hygienic than normal US pedicures). The massage chairs are the most comfortable I have ever been in. Also, if you just do a manicure, you still get to use the massage chair for the manicure! They even carry polish ok for pregnant women and sensitive skin customers to use (I have never been able use normal polish because of my allergies and sensitive skin but I can use their gel colors without issue!) Just fabulous! I have had serval waterless pedicures in the past and after the first one, I never want to put my feet in a tub of water ever again. I was so thrilled to find another salon in the area that offers waterless services at an even better price that its competitors. $35 for a waterless pedi cannot be beat! I came here for the first time this morning and had a wonderful experience. I made an online appointment a few days ago and requested Kevin based on Yelp reviews. Make sure you make an online appointment ahead of time to guarantee a service at a certain time. I do see that they allow walk-ins, however since it was Saturday and they were booked on appointments, they had to tell walk-ins to come back later in order to accommodate them. The place is absolutely beautiful. The pictures do not do justice. The chairs are comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxing. The color selection is great with high-end nail polish. They have a loyalty program as well with a punch card system. In your 5th visit you get 25% off and your 10th you get 40% off. I went into this salon on a weekday afternoon, no one was in there, which was great because I wanted to get "dip" nails done for the first time and I figured they'd take their time and assist me with designs etc. The woman who did my nails seemed like she couldn't have cared less - I kept asking her what the process was like and if she could help me with a design because I didn't know how it worked. She just kept telling me to pick a color, so instead of coming out with something fun and new I just chose a color and some sparkles. Turns out, the dip powder makes it look like thick, fake nails are on my actual nails. Which, okay, that's the look now i suppose - yet she didn't bother to clean the powder out from under my nails and it got stuck and was uncomfortable. She also filed my pointer finger CROOKED so it was angled to the left and looked strange! Then she tried to convince me my nail was crooked lol. As if! I've had plenty of manicures and this has never happened. ON top of that, they charge $50 for the dip and $60 for the dip "manicure". So I went for the manicure, only that consisted of filing my nails and cutting my cuticles. It didn't AT ALL include any hand massage or lotion that is pretty standard with most manicures. Overall I went in to get something fun and new and feel good and left feeling somewhat disappointed with $70 less to my name. I'm not sure when nail salons decided to give up and stopped caring about any nail art/design but this woman could not have cared less about the experience or her work. read more

I had a pleasant experience during my recent visit to Gloss Time Salon. This was my first time at the salon and I was immediately impressed with how clean and inviting the place looked. The interior is bright and open. There are six pedicure chairs that also serve as makeshift manicure stations. The pedicure chairs are comfortable; however, they don't have a massage feature. I thought I was going to miss this addition; however, I quickly relaxed after sinking into the comfy seat for my pedicure. I sipped on a cold glass of water while my nail technician Thy performed my pedicure and manicure. The pedicure did not involve soaking my feet in a tub of water. I've read that the waterless pedicure is much more hygenic, so the absence of the foot soak was fine by me. Thy applied oil to my feet and then wrapped them in a hot towel. Next she shaped my nails and scrubbed my feet until they felt nice and smooth. She concluded the pedicure with a relaxing foot massage. The color that I chose (Farah) looked great on my toenails and my pedicure lasted about three weeks. My manicure also turned out beautifully; however, it only lasted about a week. Prices here are higher than average, but worthwhile for the experience. There is a limited variety of polish colors available. On the plus side, all the colors are natural and five-free (i.e. they do not contain the following five chemicals: formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde resin, and camphor). I recommend making an appointment and taking advantage of the Yelp check-in deal to score 10% off your first visit. read more

After reading glowing reviews on yelp(let's face it nail salons never get 5 stars) I scheduled my appointment with Kevin. I discovered Gloss Time through word of mouth and decided to come after looking up all the reviews here and learning about waterless manicures and pedicures and liking the idea. I booked a reservation with Kevin since many people spoke very highly of his work, and that was a great choice. I had a gel manicure and a classic pedicure and Kevin did them both brilliantly and we also had a wonderful chat while my nails were getting done. I was offered my choice of beverage before we started, which was a very nice touch and as far as I could tell the entire premises were spotless and people were constantly cleaning, which is always a great sign. In addition, they had single-use tools for a lot of things, and what wasn't single use has been very clearly sterilized to a medical standard which is another sign of cleanliness I always look for. 3 days later, my nails look amazing and I have been cooking, cleaning, working, you name it and there have been no signs of chipping or flaking, everything has held up beautifully. After going to yelp to find a nail salon outside my neighborhood, I discovered Gloss Time. The glowing reviews lured me in, so I made a same day appointment online, then I found a free parking spot right out front. I made an appointment with Kevin, though upon arrival he clearly was busy with someone else, and I was silently passed on to Julisa. I didn't really like that they didn't say what was going on; the whole point of making an appointment with a specific technician is to see that specific person, but they had no intention of offering that. They didn't ask if I wanted to wait for him or try someone else, which I thought was incredibly rude. That said, Julisa did an impeccable job on my pedicure. She cleaned and scrubbed thoroughly without breaking skin, and gave a wonderful leg massage. The paint job was perfect and long-lasting (hello 10 days later, still perfect). I was thoroughly impressed at the water-less approach; I love that there was no roaring of massage chairs and foot baths, and the place didn't smell of chemicals. They also use natural polishes, no OPI or Essy here, which is great but limited color selection. Not sure if I can bring my own polish, I would hate to ruin the fresh air with my chemical-laden bottle of OPI. The convenience of online appointments is amazing, as is charging your service to the credit card on file from your booking (no more awkward "pay now" conversations before your service is over). I have loved this nail salon because it was small and had the most comfortable lounge chairs where you received both manicure and pedicure. I thought the staff was great, especially, Kevin. They were the cleanest too by using non-water based pedicures. I was shocked when I recently went there and those comfortable lounge chairs were gone replaced by these very uncomfortable straight back fixed position structures. It looked like they had tripled the number of chairs for pedicures and separate chairs for manicures. They were only set up for water based pedicures. We were greeted by the owner, Kevin, and the services were performed by both Kevin and Hannie. Both did an EXCELLENT job on our nails. The ambiance was tranquil, conversations at a whisper. It appealed to all senses - soothing music was playing, refreshing water was served, the chairs were comfy, and the salon looked and smelled great. Nice decor, very relaxing environment and the fresh flowers are a nice touch. I do like the waterless mani/pedi concept. My service was done exactly to my liking. Not much cuticle cutting, short nails and natural looking. The products they use are from NuSkin. The Baobab creme smells amazing and seems very moisturizing. I didn't try it this time but they have this cool nail printing machine. It does custom nail art printing (I've included a photo). Not my style but it is intriguing and I may have to try just for kicks next time. Pricing is very fair here. My manicure would have been $22 but I got a discount with their grand opening coupon so it was about $17. Location is good because it's in a nice quiet section of Chevy Chase.
