I always go to Nailmaste and would say it is my go to nail salon in DC! It can be really hard to find a nail salon and a good one--you just never know! But I can say for a fact that I've been going here since Sophomore year of college and I'm now a senior. I always get dip on my natural nails and this time I opted for a chrome look. Mia did an awesome job and took a lot of care shaping and prepping my nails. She gave me nice suggestions. The interior of the salon is also super cute and great vibes. It's very clean and in a wide open space. Lots of nail colors to choose from and they even do eyebrow shaping and eyelashes--though I've never tried it myself. I was here just to get a little spa pedicure and went with a friend who also did the pedicure and then filled in her nails. She's been going here about once a month for a few months now and really loves it! It's a great location and I love it being on the second floor. Just a cute spot with a nice view. Everything I said before is true but the polish yellowed and chipped a lot faster than the gel pedicures I've gotten before

I usually try a salon out by doing a basic mani (not gel) just to get a feel of the cleanliness and attention to detail. I made an appointment and was seated and seen quickly, although they didn't seem to know and kept asking me if I had an appointment, and did I want gel? Regular mani is $25, they prefer tips via Venmo to the technician directly. Pros: - tools came from what looks to be sealed pouch, so I assume they were properly sanitized, overall clean place - did not use drill under my cuticles, which I prefer - gentle and did. It twist my fingers Cons: - quality of work, top coat left a lot of gaps at the edges, and are uneven on almost all of my fingers, which is where they started chipping and really lack of detail. - bubbling on a few nails - poor ventilation, smell of chemicals is STRONG when I walked in, and all the techs were wearing masks. Maybe they do more detail oriented work if you get gel, but hard to me to justify coming back. read more

Horrible experience. They guy that did my pedicure rushed through. It was anything but relaxing- I could have done the whole thing myself. He made the water too hot. Massaged my legs too hard- it was painful! He rushed and just went through the motions with my pedicure- polish was all over my big too. He didn't spend any time with the pumice stone/ callus removal. He literally finished my 30 min pedi in less than 20 min. I wasted 40 dollars. I'm do not recommend this place and probably won't return, which is unfortunate because it presents as a nicer place. Save your money. Many other nail places where you can get a quality pedicure in the area. read more

Called at 5:50 and asked if they were taking any more walk ins considering they close at 7, the lady said yes and to come in. I did my pedicure first and once it got to my manicure she started rushing, I noticed and decided to get no French tip and just regular color . She suggested I just keep the acrylic color just bare no gel or nothing. Mind you if they knew they were going to start rushing because of closing they did not have to take me in. Charged me $60 with no gel polish or nothing. Which on their website it says it should be $50 for just acrylic. Shape came out bad . The pedicure was nice though. I've been going here on and off! I recommend making an appointment, so that they can plan for your visit. Sometimes I'm able to walk-in, but it is better to make an appointment especially on the weekends! They were graciously able to fit me in on a Saturday, but I had to wait about 2 hours. I would give it 1 stars but some of the nails techs here do great work, there were a couple times I got them by luck of the draw. Some of them, like the last few I've had, have been really sloppy. There is no way to request someone when booking online and there is such a huge difference between the different techs that I'm not taking wasting my time and money anymore. I left today with such a big gap between the polish and the nail that it looks like I got them done a week ago, in addition to having crooked, uneven gelx extensions. I also have some questions/concerns about hygiene, in every other nail salon I've been to every client gets a set of tools out of the sanitizer/autoclave and a new nail file. That is not the case here, today my tech used an old nail file far past its prime and had visibly dirty hands. If you found someone you like here or someone can refer you to them, I love that for you and you should keep going to them. For everyone else you should look elsewhere. read more

This is my first time visiting. Making an appointment online was very easy and I could check in on the ipad when I first got in. It is a super cute salon, with tons of space and beautiful decor. It is very relaxing. They have a ton of color choices for both regular and gel polish. I was impressed and happy that they had sanitized and single use tools for my pedicure. The gel pedicure is pricey at $60, but did include callus remover. I did remove one star because I think my polish ended up not being as smooth as I like it. read more

I booked my appointment online for a regular manicure and pedicure. The salon is located near Harris Teeter, off of Battery Lane and Woodmount. There is a County Parking garage across the street by their building. The nail salon is on the second floor. You will be immediately greeted by staff. You are able to sign in electronically when you arrive. I was offered beverages as I decided what nail polish I wanted to use. I found the atmosphere extremely relaxing with my nail tech. A $40 spa manicure even if just getting buffed should take longer than 15 minutes. My friend had polish done and only took an extra 15 minutes. She walked for nails to be filed and they clipped. I have been here several times and have been pleased up until my last manicure. I got a gel manicure on Tuesday and the woman who did my nails made so many mistakes. Yes I made an appointment maybe 30 minutes prior but I showed up early and still waited over 10 minutes for her to come sit down with me. Then the water was cold (I know I'm complaining but a manicure is always with warm water right??). Then she proceeded to painfully cut off the skin around my nails but not cuticles like actual chunks of skin, no it actually hurt so bad. Now it's time to do the gel and she starts by painting my whole right hand and then half my left with the top coat layer, my right hand was already being cured when she realized and quietly just switched to the base coat and did 2 layers so my right hand had the base coat on top of the top coat. Clearly that just makes the entire gel fall off. She also just didn't do a great job on the painting either if I'm being honest like the gel was pooling off onto my skin and all over my skin too. But when it goes that far off the nail it starts to peel up so of course I have like 2 other nails already peeling up along with this one that came off. I know I should have said something in the moment but I hate confrontation and those are also just kind of common things a manicurist should be paying attention to right? It's been 2 days and the whole nail cleanly fell off. I wasn't even doing anything I just looked down and it was sitting there on the table. I came in two weeks ago with an appointment for a mani and pedi. I waited almost an hour past my appointment time before I was seen. The pedicure was fine, but I had requested add one that I did not receive. I got a gel manicure that was horrible. The color (supposed to be a bright pink) is completely warped and faded - started showing almost as soon as I left. I have gotten hundreds of manicures and have never seen this happen. Came in for the first time by chance! It's my new nail spot in Bethesda. They're about 2 months old, They play relaxing music, have comfortable chairs and give a great pedicure. Highly recommend.
