I needed a shirt for a quincenera that the Ladyfriend and I've been invited to. I checked several stores for a dress shirt. Although 18 34\35 is a common size, I couldn't find it anywhere. It's hard to give the Woodland Hills an accurate review. The store is pricey, and the selection isn't great. That said... as someone who needs to shop at a Big and Tall store... it's kind of the only option. You definitely get quality clothes here. Truth be told, the key to shopping at DXL used to be their clearance section... the clothes were overpriced, but if you shopped clearance, you could always find AMAZING things at prices that were brought back down to earth... but this particularly store has always had a lame clearance section. And this last time I went in, the three tiers (which used to be like 25, 50 and 75% off... were now 20, 30 and 40% off. LAME! Let's talk about some good things - they have a really good, attentive staff who are very helpful. I found a pair of Robert Graham shoes (for $150) that I really like! I typically do really well with comfortable fitting jeans here that look fancy. You're going to pay $70 for them... but they work. So take it for what it's worth. I wish it had a better selection and was more affordable... but there's really not many other options for us Big and Tall folks. So we're stuck. I really miss the now defunct Northridge store. I ALWAYS got killer sports jackets there in the clearance section. Not the same in Woodland Hills. Maybe that's why they went under... read more

As a slightly overweight man I usually enjoy visiting DXL. I went there today. Experience was great. Joshua is an attentive associate. I loved all the new summer colors and likely spent way too much. On the downside was the bum living next to DXLs parking lot. There was trash all over the ground, mostly from fast food. He actually showed up as I was entering my car to leave and he was throwing various pieces of trash all over the ground. Disgusting. read more

I honestly love this store. I'm a big guy 6'4 280lbs and it's very difficult to find clothes and shoes that fit me which isn't purchased online. And while ordering online it is unreliable because I don't know how the clothing or shoes are going to fit. I'm a 6'4" 270# man who understands I might be on the smaller spectrum of this particular retail store, but I know what my sizes are. On Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, I walked into DXL, after driving an hour to get there, and I was immediately told from a much smaller man that there's nothing in this store for me. That I'm too small. Lol! I told him there's a shirt right here. The size I was looking for. He said no, you're not a 17-17-1/2 (neck) and proceeded to measure me. He said see, yeah, you're a 15. I laughed and said, I don't think so. My 3 year old said, you're too small daddy? I said, I guess so. That's what the little guy is telling me. He didn't like that too much. So a woman came to help me since he walked away. She was a bit nicer than he was but really just more condescending. She said the same as him. I said my size is 17-17-1/2 37/38. She said, at our store or at a department store? I said isn't 17", 17"? She said no. So I guess DXL has their own form of measurements. Anyways, I let her pick a shirt for me to appease them and of course it was way too small. I couldn't even button the top. I said, 15 huh? She (the worker) then went to go grab the exact shirt I first found when I walked in that place. I tried it on, it was perfect. I then said, I need a suit. She said you look like a 44L. I said no, I'm at least a 50L. She looked at me like I'm dumb. She said, I don't think so. I said yes, my other suit at home is a 50R and it's not long enough in the arms. I then said you know what, that's fine. Thank you. My wife and I were absolutely taken back by how condescending and smug these 2 were. In the 10-15 minutes we were in there, they turned away 3 other customers because they were "too small". They could've made $1000+ easy in 30 minutes. Even if someone was "too small" to shop there, maybe they like baggier stuff. Maybe they don't like form fitted. It's their prerogative if that's the case. Either way, me personally, they had my size and I would've purchased a 3 piece suit and everything to go with it but now, I will never go in there again or even buy online. If you are Big, Tall, Short or anywhere in between DXL (DestinationXL) is a great place to buy your clothes. The storefront is easy to see from Topanga Blvd on the west side of the street. If you are not sure what DXL well, its a mixture of Casual Male, DestinationXL and Rochester Big and Tall. They are all owned by the same company so now they have taken all three stores and made them into one. Inside DXL is a beautiufl, it reminds me of a high end store in Beverly Hills. There is art on the wall, the wood floors were spottless, the colors of the store were great as well. Everything was very clean and laidout well. Clothing: When you walk in they have workout and sports type clothes to the right, everything from Lakers, Dodgers and other sports teams "to all types of activewear which includes Hoodies, Tee Shirts, Shorts, workout pants everything you need. After that is the "Casual Clothing" which includes Jeans, Tees, Polos and Shirts. They have all brands from Polo, Nautica, Harbor Bay, True Nation, Synrgy, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Cutter & Buck, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger and much more. Lots of cool stuff from causal night out as well as that special night out. The back wall is shoes, they have everything from Sneakers that are wide, boots dress shoes sandals, slippers and much more. After that is plenty of underwear, teeshirts. Then coming around to the other side of the store there is lots of really nice dress clothing, great shirts, great pants sport coats as well as ties and other accessories. Then at the end they have suits, and what is really cool is next to the dressing rooms they have a tailor stand so they can measure you and I believe do altorations there. Staff Sal was great, greating me at the door, gave me space when I said was just looking around and was right there when I had a qustion foi him. He even offered me a bottle of water. I was asking him about running shoes and he measured my feet to make sure that I had the best fit possible. Service way above and beyond..he was great. Carrie (Store Manger) was also really really friendly and great. She came over to make sure everything was ok. When I couldnt get the coupon to download on my phone (because AT&T is the worst) she helped me out with doing it. So let me begin by saying I have shopped all three of their branches, Rochester, casual male and DXL. Rochester has mostly high end product that you find at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. DXL is a mix of casual male and Rochester only that DXL carries more inexpensive items from casual male. But service is top notch here, been shopping here quite a bit and have gotten to know most of the staff. They are always friendly and willing to help. Prices can be a bit high on the house brands, but the high end brands are usually on par with online retailers and competition. Always come here to get my fix on Robert Graham shirts and Brooks Brother. Great selection and great service.. Also try their clearance section every now and then you can find a gem.. I usually shop at Casual Male XL in Northridge, but that store is so small, their selection is just pitiful, and their sales associate Chris, well...he's an asshole. One of the other, nicer sales people referred me to Destination XL in Woodland Hills. Wow, what a difference. The store is across from the mall (it is NOT inside the mall shopping center at all), near a gas station. The parking can be a little limited. As I walked in, I was greeted by three very friendly sales associates. I was immediately asked for what I was looking for. I was not only directed to the T-shirt location, but escorted there. The store is huge! At least two and a half times larger than their Northridge counterpart. Tom, one of the sales people informed me that DXL owns Casual Male as well as Rochester. As I browsed, Tom wasn't pushy at all, and even offered to help me search for specific sizes. He was very attentive. This store has it all, for the husky gentleman, from workout clothes, casual attire (jeans and T-shirts), to suits. The clothing cost is comparable to prices at Nordstrom, but just like Nordstrom, you are getting quality apparel that will last. I had a coupon that I forgot to print out, the cashier said that as long as I can show him the email from my smartphone, he was able to accept it. read more

A few years ago I discovered the Destination XL store in Las Vegas. That place is awesome! I was very excited to get one here in LA finally and took a trip there today. The Vegas store is basically their flagship store so maybe it is unfair to compare this new location to there, but I kinda have to. This location is brand new and while larger than any of the previous Casual Male stores the chain is basically spawned from, it is smaller than the Vegas location. Also, the Vegas location has a huge clearance section. This store has a big clearance section, but being as the store just opened there is very little in that section. I'm sure that will improve in time The regular selection in this store is very good. Much better than anything you ever saw in a Casual Male store, but again, being as it is smaller than Vegas, Vegas has a better selection. The big issue I had with this store is there was one t-shirt and one sweater than I really liked and they did not have it in my size. They literally had every size larger and smaller than mine, but not my size. Big fail there. The other issue is the pricing at this store (and to be honest the Vegas location also) is quite high. Some of the basics (t-shirts and jeans) are reasonable, but I kept seeing some cool stuff and looking at the tags and laughing at the price. There was a cool jacket in the clearance section that was originally priced at $898! Sorry folks, but even with the 25% discount for the clearance it was still horribly overpriced. Again, that seems to be the chain, not this store in particular. I did get a good pair of pants and a cool shirt, so it was a successful trip. The staff of the store was also first rate and the store is very clean. Maybe at some point after they get fully settled in I will update this review with a better rating, but for now, 3 stars is an high as I can go. read more

HUGE selection from suites to sleepwear. Clearance rack had some awesome deals. Staff was helpful and not pushy. I found exactly what I was looking for as well as a couple of other things. I have always had great service by all of the staff at the Woodland Hills DXL store but I felt the need to point out a truly exceptional person - Alex Tavassoli. Alex is the Assistant Manager and he helped me put together my Ralph Lauren suit that I was going to get married in. He measured me and took into account the weight loss regiment I was on for the wedding and had me order smaller sizes and then did a final measurement once we were closer to the date for alterations. He gave me great advice and style suggestions for my dress shirt and vest as well. I came in a few times over the course of a month and Alex made sure that whatever didn't fit was returned effortlessly and what we did use was tailored perfectly. He made sure we had enough time in case the tailor needed to make any last minute adjustments (had to have vest and suit taken in a little more before final pick up) and he was involved in the entire process from start to finish. The attention to detail and great customer service Alex provided was an incredible experience and I recieved many compliments on how I looked for the wedding. This was the first time we shopped at this location and the Store Manager, Reneh Balian, helped us from start to finish. I couldn't be more pleased with his service including his knowledge of fashion, and fitting. I was also impressed with the store inventory for big and tall men including everything from casual to dress attire and had a wide variety of accessories to choose from. Although the cost was a little high, Reneh's expertise and the large inventory made it well worth the added cost.
