I stopped by this Banana Republic store inside Westfield Sherman Oaks mall today while my wife was returning an item at another store nearby. The moment you walk inside this store, you'll feel like you're in a luxury store because everything is set up like it is. The store is very open, bright, quiet and smells nice. I stayed mostly in the men's area and looked at their items. My friend were a lot of Banana Republic clothing so I was looking for items for him as a Christmas gift. I saw some stuff that I thought would be nice for him but haven't brought it yet. read more

Not sure what it is but I find this location to have the most unfriendly staff. I took multiple laps around the store and walked by multiple employees. Not one employee took the time to say hi or ask if I needed help. I prefer the Century City location. It was recently renovated and customer service exists! read more

So we were in the area and in search of some new clothes and we figured we'd give Banana Republic a shot. The very first thing I noticed was that it was very cleanly and well kept. It was surprisingly very modern inside. However the employees weren't exactly the nicest. They made us uncomfortable the whole time we were in the store giving us looks up and down. The clothes were also well overpriced. So if you come in be sure that you are going to spend an arm and a leg. But besides those reasons everything else went smoothly. read more

So I just came in to look around because I have a small gift card and wanted to see what I could buy with that. I know it's a pricey store but they do occasionally have small items that are still pricey, but can get by with the gift card. As I walk in, an associate lady greets me and I say hello. I take a lap around the store to see what they have, knowing everything is out of budget but I just wanted to kill time and look. I go to one corner section where the clearance is and the same lady comes by again and asks if I have a banana republic card and I say no. She proceeds to tell me about the deal if I were to get the card and lets me know I can come to her if I have any further questions. I say great and thank her. I proceed to look through the clearance section and I notice she's just standing there close to where I am and that's when I start to feel uncomfortable. Another customer was there shopping in the same section and when she left, the lady was still there. I did manage to find a cute shirt at a cheap price but wanted to look at the jewelry before I committed to it. So I left that section and moved to the jewelry table. That's when an associate guy walks up to me and says "I noticed you've been here for a while. Do you have any questions?" I was honestly shocked by his first sentence as I didn't think I was there that long. I'd say less than 10 minutes. But I told him I'm here to shop and look around. He proceeded to compliment me on my outfit which I believe is to mask the suspicion he has of me. Eventually he left and right after so did I because of how uncomfortable I was being watched. I understand how customer service works and usually by the first greeting, the workers tend to leave customers alone and let them shop. But they came up to me a total of three times and were watching me as if I was going to steal something. I'd say I wasn't dressed the "richest" nor do I fit the profile of someone that would steal yet they were hovering over me making me feel very uncomfortable. I hope they learn how customers like to shop and if they have any questions then they'd find someone to help them. Otherwise it becomes uncomfortable just like this encounter. read more

I was there last week trying to find the matching pants to a blazer I bought last season. The first person I dealt with, a lady with very bleached out blonde hair, kept repeating in an obnoxiously loud voice that I would not find the pants because the style was "old" and "last season." She seemed to enjoy the attention that she was getting from the other customers as she kept repeating herself although I gently reminded her that I heard her the first time. Then I went up to one of the cashiers hoping that maybe they could help. Wrong! The girl with the jet black hair and eyeglasses was clearly annoyed with even having to look up the style-and she showed it. Staff at this location must be why more and more people are shopping online. The staff over at the Studio City location is MUCH more professional than Sherman Oaks. Now if only they had a petites section... read more

The people there are nice and the clothes are nice. However, if you wear anything larger than a size 44 jacket you're s.o.l. for trying it on. Buy it online they say. I literally Just walked into Banana Republic in the Century city mall and what a bunch of snotty saleswomen. I walked in wearing a BR dress and denim jacket. There were only 3 customers in the store. I walked by the gal at the counter, she didn't even look up and the other women walked by me looking at me head to toe with this uptight look. No hello, welcome, oh that looks great on you...nada!! Wow. I'm really disappointed with this place. I came in on 8/23 at about 4:30 and had a terrible experience with one of the cashiers/customer service reps (he was the only male cashier at the time). So I had two items, socks and shorts. I also had a 50% off coupon. I was the only person in line and I went up to him, gave him the two pieces: socks and shorts and then told them about the discount. He proceeded to tell me that the discount is not applicable on the shorts because they were already discounted. I said "do you have different shorts that are full price so I could get the 50% off?" He said "we might have them... THEY'RE EITHER IN THE BACK OR THE FRONT." Hmmmmmmmm. So I just let him be rude and said "ok. Forget the shorts." Then I tried to pay for the socks, and he said "u can't pay for it. It has to be the card holder. Please go get the card and wait in line." I left the store. I'm also going to send this review to corporate. Worst experience I've had at a retail store. read more

I bought 2 frangrances and the next day came back to see if I could exchange one because I didn't like the lingering scent of one of them. I ask an associate (who is a guy) if I could exchange and he said let him speak with the manager... 2 mins later without inquiring about my purchase, she's looks at me and says no. I'm upset but I leave and check the online policy and call a different location. The lady in the other location had no problem exchanging the frangrance and apologized for my inconvenience of having to drive to another store. Very rude! I came in here to exchange a dress that was a gift. I do like their merchandise overall and shop here for work clothes off and on. My experience has mostly been pleasant and they do have more options, as it is a bigger store. Denise helped me find what I needed and gladly brought out other sizes, etc. She was very pleasant and helpful. She also offered to order a size that they didn't have in store, online. I ended up buying several other items along with the exchange. The dress I got was quite wrinkled. I asked if they would be able to press it. She said yes, but it would have to be after I had purchased it. I found that policy to be very strange. If I am already making my way over to the register, why can't the dress be pressed at the same time? Something the company has to address and is obviously no fault of the employees, for everyone was very friendly and approachable. And the girl who pressed the dress, Liz, did a great job. This would easily be a five star review if I hadn't had to pay for my stuff, then wait for the iron to heat up, then have the item pressed, all of which took longer than 15 minutes, and this is on top of the time I had already waited in line. I hope the management will read this and make the appropriate changes. read more

The five stars go to Ellen and her fantastic customer service! I came in seeking short sleeve shirts for school, but could not find anything acceptable. As my father and I turned to leave we were approached by the persistent and friendly Ellen. She picked out some nice clothes and made me try them on. She refused to let me leave without liking at least one article of clothing. In the end I didn't get anything because the prices are exorbitant, but the experience was fun instead of tiring. read more

To be perfectly honest, I haven't been to this BR in many years. Actually I hadn't been to this mall in many years. To my pleasant surprise, the mall went through a major renovation. Bigger, updated, and a nicer selection of stores. In accordance, this BR also improved over time. It's much more spacious which allows for greater foot traffic and merchandise placement. I typically only shop the sale racks in the back because although I love their clothes, I still think they're overpriced. Thankfully, the sale section in the back also expanded, not much, but a little. In this particular location, the racks were organized and didn't look like a mob had torn through them on Black Friday. The staff were all very friendly and not overly aggressive which is a plus in a store based on commission. Since rediscovering the mall and its improvements, I'm sure to be back. read more

This store has made me question my loyalty to the company. Horrible customer service. All around. I will be canceling my credit card as a result of my experience here. I asked two people if they can help me with sizes and one of them disregarded my question while the other said she was busy. Then, I watched an employee named KAREN call an older customer awful names behind her back. I was appalled so I had to ask for her name so someone can discipline her. Usually a great, nice friendly store. Busy on Saturdays like most stores but almost unwilling to help with my purchases as I was 'studio services'. I could understand if I had a pile of clothes but it so happens I did not. I waited patiently in line as a regular store patron argued and took 15 minutes at the register. As it was my turn I not only was scolded and treated as a leper but then talked about. For those of you who don't know, studio has to keep a certain amount of clothing no matter what. This means I will be charged no matter what. So even if took 5 minutes to ring me up at the register and they are making money off of my purchase they were still pissy. Also there was no line behind me! I won't ever buy from here again. Lame. Rude. Horrible customer service. read more

After I pick up 2 or 3 items, I am always asked if I need a dressing room. The salespeople are always very helpful with suggesting items and finding sizes for you. I needed to purchase several items for my new job and had money to spend but I wasnt all dressed up. Wilda saw past my old jeans and helped me find several items that look amazing on me. I went in a couple weeks ago and found a couple shirts I liked but they didn't have it in stock in my size. So they ordered it online for me. A week later realize one of the shirts I bought went on sale for for 60% lower than I bought it for. I called and spoke to Denise who was nice enough to check all the prices for me. But when I asked her about price matching is when it went downhill. At first she told me they only price match within 7 days (and today was the 7th day) and that I had to come in the store to the price match cause they can't price match over the phone. This didn't make sense to me so I asked for her and her manager's name. I looked online and called Gap (who owns banana republic). The price match policy is actually within 14 days and they could do the price match over the phone. This is an example of poor customer service. It's fine if you're not familiar with every policy, although price matching should be a pretty standard policy for an employee to know. What's not okay is giving out false information to your customers that could cause them to waste their time and money. If you're not sure, just acknowledge it and then find out the right answer. Shouldn't be this hard to do a price match with their OWN STORE. C'mon Banana, step your game up. Isaac, train your employees better please. I hope they actually read these reviews and follow up with me. read more

This is absolutely the worst Banana Republic I've been to, by far. How do I know that? Well I've been to most of their locations in So Cal and the customer service here is lackadaisical at best. I came in here today to buy a few dress shirts for work and not 1 person on the sales floor inquired to whether I needed any help. Really? You have 4 people working on the sales floor and you can't even muster up enough energy to ask if I need help with anything? Then what are you paying your sales people for? To fold shirts and organize the sales racks? Heck, I get better customer service from the loss control greeters at Ross. What was even more confounding was the moment when I walked to register to ring up my sale and the "manager" with the inert personality asked, "if anyone had helped me on the sales floor"? When I conveyed my misgivings to him he just gave me a blank stare and a vapid apology before handing me my receipt. Who manages this place?! read more

I had a wonderful experience today here, they were having a %50 off sale and everybody that helped me was very hospitable. First both my girl and I were trying on clothes and Kristine (sp?) was helping us find different sizes for things and we kept her busy but she was very helpful, then she started helping someone else who seemed a bit needy also and we taken care of by this sweet black lady who was just super nice (I wish I remembered her name, she said she only works weekends) and went one step further by showing me the difference in fits by how the pants I was trying on fell at the ankle etc, which I thought was very nice. And then we got to the counter and Mel was super sweet and wrapped all our purchases in tissue paper before packing them in a bag for us. Most places just throw them in a bag with a receipt! I felt like we were helped by a whole team of people and it made for a different kind of experience than I'm used to, it felt like I was back in Beverly Hills & that really stood out to me. Surprised that this store received 4 stars review. I placed an online reserve on New year (I was desperate because it was the only store that had my skinny jeans size - would have chosen to go to other stores if I had a choice). So I called today before driving off from Pasadena to Sherman Oaks to make sure it was there. I called as soon as I got in the car. A lady picked up (I think her name is Karen/Cary or something), she said "please hold". I held until 11 minutes later, a guy picked up said "hello", so I said "hello", then he said "hold". I held again...passed the 134, merged to 101, got off my exit per GPS for the mall (20 mins later). Another lady came on and said "have you been helped?" So I told her I've been on hold for the last 20 mins (from Pasadena to Sherman Oaks, in a 4 o'clock in the afternoon Friday drive) and I jay wanted to make sure my drive wasn't for naught. She checked and apologized. I said I'm here, no worries, I'll see you in a bit. Walked into the store, a cashier yelled " THE LINE IS OVER THERE!" I was like WTF, I just walked in and needed to scope it out, I wasn't try to f*%#ing cut. I walked over to the line, waited, and I hear this same girl picking up the phone and said "hold!", I knew it was the same girl that placed me on hold earlier. Didn't say anything but proceeded to ask about my reserved jeans. Then she couldn't give me the price I paid online be caused I used a $10 reward and stated it will be credited to my card later. I didn't buy that bullshit so she called her manager. Manager said it's written in your credit card agreement. I wanted her to tell me exactly where it is written but decided to let it go. Then I had a couple of items to return, so the cashier said "this was bought in separate transactions?" With a tone like this never happened before in history of retail right? Overall, I just left feeling what a damn shame for a beautiful store to have such shitty customer service. Maybe that lady was having a shitty day, but hey if you chose retail...this is typically what happens. Customer buying and returning stuff...hello! I receive all BR current promotions via email, and was excited when I saw a current offering of 50% off selected items. I immediately jumped onto the website and found a wool coat I wanted for an upcoming trip and was pleasantly surprised that I could save 50% off my purchase. What a deal! I proceeded to checkout to complete the transaction, but cancelled it instead because I wanted to try it on before I purchased it. Using BR website to check availability, I discovered it was available at the Fashion Square store in Sherman Oaks, CA. I decided to drive to the store to try on the coat. Based on the information on the website, I thought it would be no trouble to enjoy the 50% savings in the store too. I arrived at the store and immediately found the wool coat in my size- I was happy! The coat fit perfectly and I was ready to buy it. A very pleasant sales woman came over to comment on the coat, but didn't know about the 50% off selected items promotion. She said I could talk to the manager on duty when I was ready to pay. I knew I wanted it and proceeded to the counter to purchase the coat. Obviously no one in the store knew of this promotion because the cashier applied a 40% discount to my coat. I explained to them the email I received for the 50% off promotion, and even showed them the email on my phone to prove it. The cashier called over her manager for help. I explained the promotion to Mel, and handed her my smart phone so she could read the email. Based on her demeanor, I could sense that she didn't believe me. Mel then picked up the store phone and called online support for assistance, seemingly intent on proving me wrong. The support group verified that the promotion was real. I felt vindicated because Mel was treating me like I had made up the promotion. She then gave the assistant the product number to be sure the discount could be applied to my coat. From the look on her face, I could tell Mel was not happy with what she heard from the assistant. After hanging up the phone, Mel told me that the next time I shop, I should take advantage of the online promotion instead of coming to her store. Mel further explained that she would make an one-time exception for me and applied the discount to my coat. An exception? Had she understood the company's current promotion, Mel would know the discount could be used in stores or online. There was no exception to be made. It was then I realized she didn't want ME shopping in her store. I can't speculate as to why she didn't want me there. But I can tell you that I didn't feel good after the way she treated me. To add insult to injury, Mel didn't bother to ask if I wanted my new wool coat wrapped in a garment bag. Instead, she wrapped in in a see through plastic bag. She wanted to make haste of my transaction so she could move on with more important matters. Obviously, I am not important enough to be treated with dignity. read more

Libny provided superior customer service (think he is the Manager)! I had an issue with an item that I purchased and he made it right without a fight! He listened to the issue, told me to return the item and provided a refund. Banana is known for poor customer service (at least from my standpoint), and for quite a long time I stopped shopping at this brand. I was prepared to return all the items I purchased that still contained tags and shut my card down but I didn't need to go there. Thanks for making it right Libny! read more
