I spent weeks looking into tint options and vendors within Northern and Southern CA for my Tesla Model S before deciding to go with Rodz Tint Shop. I started asking around for window tinting for my Model Y before I even took delivery. I reached out to many vendors and from the start , Rodz was super responsive and informative. I had tons of questions and Mayra was able to respond very quickly and addressed all of my concerns. The quote for all windows tinting was the best and the reviews I read on Yelp and other Tesla forum gave me extra assurance. It took a full day for all window installation + I added two rocker panel PPFs last minute. They really treated me like family, helping me setup my computer so I could easily work at the lobby while connected to their WiFi. I was able to take a sneak peek of the progress and also talked to Rod himself! It really took a whole day as the team wants to make sure the installation is down correctly and it has time to dry as much as possible so they can do an inspection before calling it done. As with any tint, it'll take a few days minimum for everything to completely dry out. As with window tinting, it takes a few days for everything to dry out. I have no concern whatsoever if anything happens, Rodz team will take care of it! Thanks to Mayra for all the speedy responses. My appointment was for 9:30 and they said that it would be done by 4:30, but it was done a couple hours earlier which was great. One word summary: Amazing!! Tesla owners LOOK NO FURTHER!! While waiting for 10 weeks for our Tesla Model 3 to be delivered, I had a good amount of time to do some extensive research on tint shops around San Diego and OC area to get our M3 tinted as soon as it gets delivered. We live in San Diego and while doing my research, I reached out to a total of 25 shops in San Diego county comparing tint manufacturers, types of tint offered, prices, friendliness and professionalism. While reading through tesla forums looking for opinions on types of tint, I came across many posts stating that they had their tint done with Rodz with only positive impressions. Even though it was quite far from SD (90miles), I though it was somewhat far away, thought it would be worth including them in my comparison. From the moment I spoke to Sarai, I knew this was the place. She spent an hour on the phone with me going over pros and cons of all types of tints they offered. She was very patient and honest and didn't try to up sell me to their "most expensive" tint but instead gave me a very good and honest comparison on performance, appearance, warranty, longevity and other specs on all films carried and really was trying to help me decide what was right for me. Our main objective was obviously the look but more importantly long term performance and UV and heat reflection. We drove up from San Diego and decided to go with Llumar IRX 15% back windows and 30% front windows, Air 80 top and windshield. Upon arrival, we were highly impressed with the facility. I've never seen a garage THAT clean from Lobby to working area, floors etc. 5 major reasons why we decided to go with RODZ: 1. Experience with tesla vehicles - thousands of Tesla's with 100% success! I had my doubts getting the front Windshield tinted given some reports of failing electronics due to poor quality application of tint and water / solution getting into the electronics. RODZ uses some special clean / dry technology that they showed us on site which convinced us to add the windshield tint as well. The tesla model 3 is apparently not easy to tint and having such an experienced provider absolutely makes the difference! 2. No cutting on your Tesla vehicle: RODZ has Original tesla glass in their garage and precuts the film so that no knife ever comes close to your car. Both my partner and I are very detail oriented and we didn't find any irregularities on our car on inspection after tint placements. This is what I call perfection! 3. Price! Most competitive price for the type of tint I decided to go with amongst all 25 stores that were included in my comparison. Some of them included "best rated" tint shops in San Diego. Nothing can beat them! 4. Friendliness and professionalism The owner is truly a gentleman - so kind, friendly, respectful. He himself did the tint on our car and he did it perfectly. Our car was well taken care of, no dirty foot prints, no water spots on the seats and fabrics or any other complains. They did a thorough inspection of our car for production imperfections and informed us about their consigns before even touching the vehicle. 5. Convenience: they gave us a free 2019 loaner while working on our vehicle! Can't top that! Overall impression: Best decision ever - we are very happy with the results. I had found Rodz tint shop on the Tesla motor club forums as a quality, experienced installer. The experience first started with Mayra who was extremely polite and got me scheduled up. The install took 3 days because i wanted all the leading edges wrapped and in addition to the full front PPF I added the rocker panels. The nice part about the rocker addition is it runs from the rear of the front tire all the way back to the front of the rear tire where it expands up the panel to protect that venerable area. If you have a model 3 performance with summer tires, I highly recommend the rocket panel protection. Well worth it. At the time of pickup I had a few questions about the install and Rod came out from installing to personally take me through some very minor things. He also brought me back in his shop to show me how the lower bumper PPF goes on with his custom cut to maximize the uncut area, very nice and only two inconspicuous cuts on the bumper in all. Rodz completed a full front PPF wrap including mirror, fog lights and headlights on my model 3 performance. I also added the rocker panels. Rod used llumar Platinum PPF which is self healing and I couldn't be happier. On my way out Mayra gave me a rodz tint shop Tesla coffee mug, which is an issue because I have a coffee problem.... Overall excellent customer service and excellent product result. Would highly recommend. read more

Not super visible , took me a minute to locate it. From the gate I really liked Myra (who helped me on the phone and once I arrived) and Rod, owner. Both were very funny and charismatic. The waiting area is totally decked out so you are entertained the whole time with options to watch anything on Netflix.... there are beverages and comfy seating. Nice and cool in there and if you are up for a chat Myra is more than obliging. Super sweet, helpful, and smart. She knows the biz. Most important is the quality of the job and it was amazing. Totally transformed my car. I am very pleased with it. Not too expensive but not cheap (cheap gets cheap). And he was done super fast. Highly recommend Rodz! Looking for a place to get my windows tinted. I had gotten my prior car tinted at Signature Glass in Costa Mesa (and was happy with the results), but Rodz came highly recommended through the automotive forums, as well as by my sister. Mayra answered all of my questions, was able to get me an appointment that worked for my schedule, and even gave me a loaner car for the day. Dropped my car off around 9:00 a.m., and the woman I spoke with was really helpful in answering my questions about the different types of tint, and she provided a great recommendation based on what I was looking for. The car was ready to be picked up before the end of the day (took longer because the glass roof and windshield were tinted, and I asked to have my front console wrapped), and I have been really pleased with the results. So nice I had to do it twice. I got my Tesla Model Y done last year with Rodz done about a year ago. Unfortunately my windshield got a huge crack in it and I had to replace the windshield. After I replaced the windshield I had to get the Windshield redone and there was no question I was going to go back to Rodz Tint shop. Rod did an amazing job the first time and did a superb job the second time around as expected. Mayra was extremely accommodating and helped me get a quote so my insurance would cover the cost of re-doing the windshield. She also got me an appointment on a busy Saturday with just 3 days notice. It's been a few weeks since I had my car and my wife's car tinted. I just came in to fix my wife's tint again. Here's my story. Both cars got LLumar Air 80's in the front, CTX 30% on the front sides and 15% on the rear windows. Here's how to rate my experience Quality - 1 My car - They had to redo my front windshield 3 times (4 times total) 1st time - There were visible scratches. They blamed it on the manufacturer. They said that it was a bubble but only after insisting they admit it was an issue 2nd time - More bubbles and scratches. They said I was being too picky 3rd time - Tint next to rearview mirror lifted off. When they tried to stick it back they creased the tint 4th time - They wanted to cut around the dots (top of windshield) to make it easier to tint, but they ultimately did the work and upgraded me to 3M Crystalline My wife's car - They had to redo the rear and two side windows. Rear window - See the photos. The sides were a) not edge to edge b) cut very poorly and c) had bubble on the edge where the tint is not on the window. Roger said that you can't see it on the outside but it's clearly visible on the inside. It's just shoddy work. Side windows - When they were first done there were small bubbles but Roger insisted when cured they would go away. When I brought up the issue he said that I should have let them know sooner and they could have fixed it. The replacement rear side window tint had a bubble so they tried to fix it using their fingernail. I told them not to and they got the tech to do it and they scratched the tint. At this point I don't want to waste time to do it again. In total I had to go back 5 extra times go fix multiple issues and even the last time to fix an issue the tech scratched the tint. Bubbles, scratches and poorly cut edges had to be fixed, and they did so begrudgingly. They do not seem to have any quality control. You need to check to make sure they did a good job. They will not check for you. Service - 2 Found dirt in my car (see photo). After the 4th tinting of my front windshield I told them that I wanted the warranty and said they would send it. A few days later nothing had been sent and they blamed it on 3M and LLumar. If you search online a Tesla owner said they received their warranty on their way to picking up their car. I did not. I asked a friend about their warranty and when they asked Roger he got it to them the same day. For me it took days, multiple calls, emails to get it done. When I bought in my car for the 6th time to fix my wife's tint, I saw Roger hand a Tesla owner a printed copy of the Warranty including brochures and etc. Not sure if they were trying to keep me from getting warranty or they did not see me as important enough to get it immediately like everyone else. Using a fingernail to fix tint issues should be against protocol. Attitude - 2 Scratches and bubbles in the tint. When called out, Roger made it seem like it wasn't a problem, would be fixed in curing or that I was too demanding. Even the poor workmanship issue on my wife's rear tint, he kept saying that no one would see it. Each time an issue was brought up Roger made it seem like it was my problem but that they were doing me a favor by fixing it. I've had cars tinted before but never these issues. What they did right - Loaner car for one day. I wish I had it each time I went it but they had it at least one time. Upgraded me from Air 80 to Cyrstalline. Not something I asked for but was fine with. Also on one of the days where I did not have a rental David took me home in his car. Ultimately they did fix the issues( we'll see if the bubble comes back on my wife's rear side window). The reason for the low rating was that a simple tint should not require that I fix it 5 times (2 cars). They should check their work, take ownership of issues and they should treat all customers the same regardless what cars they have, and give customers their warranty when they pick up their car. read more
