When I came to Rebecca I was unable to work as a nurse, go out to eat (restaurant chairs-ouch), or really function due to severe back pain and scoliosis. I had done PT for MONTHS, which made things worse instead of better. I even saw 2 of the 'best' PTs in the city who were referred to me by my concierge doctor. When I came to Rebecca, I was anxious and desperate-but she was patient and responsive to what caused pain. Through trial and error, she helped me find the few exercises that could help strengthen my body and we began with those. Slowly I progressed, and the pain dissipated. I couldn't believe it! I recently completed my 10 session (+ progress assessment) with owner Rebecca Lubart, and the experience was life-changing. The private sessions at DBP are so special because they are tailored so precisely to your individual needs and goals. I was so fortunate to work with Rebecca--she's so experienced and has such a natural gift for her work--she notices every, single, detail...it's quite astonishing. Even in a loose-fitting shirt, she would catch every minute adjustment...how I could melt my chest more, how my core needed to engage more...those eyes saw everything (sometimes I wished they didn't lol). I'd highly recommend DBP! My everyday routine causes me several physical problems like back, neck and shoulders pain. At DBP, Rebecca and her practitioners teach me how to fix the problems in an uncomplicated way. They give me small homework that I can do at home without any special machine. I learn how to move my body in a better way to adjust my body back to normal after it was damaged by my routine activities. I don't think that exercise should be hard and painful. Dynamic Pilates really changed my life. After years of physical therapy failed to address the pain in my hips, SI joint, and lower back, I found my way here. I did two 10-week sessions with Rita - - more costly than working with one of their regular trainers and well worth every penny. Rita is warm, observant, detail-oriented, and versatile. She started me with the smallest motions, and as I grew stronger and understood my body better, the training and homework grew more complex. After the first 10 weeks I felt better than I had in years, and by the end of the second session, my pain was gone. I'd learned learn how to identify my trouble spots, isolate what was causing the problems, and do what exercise was needed to ameliorate any discomfort when it flares up. Rita also helped me prepare for group pilates classes when I felt ready to start transitioning in that direction. I"m not sure if the studio is open in our post-COVID era, but it was already designed in a way that respects what we've come to call social distancing. The space only allows two clients and their trainers to work out at a time, and often it was only me and Rita, with perhaps one person in a separate office nook, and the next client changing behind a private curtain or waiting behind a closed door in a small separate entry area/coat-and-shoe room. They already had a practice of cleaning everything we touched when we finished with any piece of equipment. It's also worth noting that when I was first researching which pilates studio to choose, Rebecca personally responded to my inquiry and was incredibly helpful. Though we didn't meet in person until after my sessions with Rita had begun, she knew exactly who I was and what my progress was. When I started with DBP I was in a lot of pain. I had been a serious dancer for a long time and really hurt myself, and had not felt comfortable moving much in the last few years because of the pain. I have tried acupuncture, chiropractors, physical therapists, and none of them helped long term all. I came across Rebecca 7 weeks out of ACL reconstructive surgery when I was desperate to fill the hole that yoga used to fill for me pre-injury. Consistent physical therapy was indeed helpful and productive for me, but I was missing an activity that promotes a deep awareness and mind-body connection. While traditional physical therapy was great for strengthening my post-op knee, I really needed a way to get out of the inefficient and harmful compensation patterns I had developed to accomodate my injury to prevent future injuries. After meeting Rebecca at our first consultation, I felt an immediate sense of relief - that I was in the hands of someone who was not only highly skilled and knowledgeable about movement and rehabilitation, but really understood my fears surrounding it. I've done pilates for many years and after moving, I was in search of a studio and most importantly a good instructor. After trying several instructors, I finally settled with Rebecca who was warm and friendly and one of the most knowledgeable instructors I've encountered. Rebecca has now been my pilates instructor for several years. She helps my body regain and maintain strengh and balance every week after sitting in an office chair at work.
