We have 5 pets and a sometimes messy kid and every other carpet cleaning company always starts out around $100 and then tries to get me to spend over $300 because of pets, and "problem areas" which are just discoloration because I almost never use chemicals to clean up messes. I have a small hand-held cleaner that I use without adding the cleaning agent for bigger messes and just water and rags for little stuff. Then I call a carpet cleaning company every 4-6 months. This is how I've been taught to take care of pet messes. With other companies, when I refuse the upsell, the cleaning tech does an extremely poor job and leaves with the carpets not properly cleaned. Summit is usually about $150 depending on how many rooms I need cleaned, and they take their time to make sure it is done right. If there really is a need for an additional service, he will mention it, but if I refuse, he still tries his best to go over the area a few extra times and do the best job he can within the services I am paying for. To be honest, if I could leave a 4.5-star review here, I would. They definitely do a good job, better than anyone else I've used (and I've used a lot), but if your feeling get hurt, they may not be the right cleaners for you. He always lets me know what is wrong, what stinks, what needs to just be replaced, and what simply can't be cleaned. He is blunt. I appreciate the honesty, but some people may get offended.

He acted like the entire job was an inconvenience to him. He also stated that his machine would dirty the stairs if we did not elect to pay the extra money to get the stairs cleaned. It's ridiculous that he was going to dirty the stairs and not leave them in the same condition that he encountered. I ended up having to lay down my own moving blankets on the stairs to protect them from him getting them dirty with his equipment. He was on time and completed the cleaning as scheduled. We had some very old stains that remained after the cleaning, but overall we were pretty happy. Note - we used our personal carpet cleaning machine a few months after The Rug Man cleaned our carpet. Several of the stubborn stains went away (I think it may have been due to the cleaning product he used).
