If you take the time to talk to Dr. Bouffard you will find him knowledgable, honest and empathetic…read more I would recommend him over other pain doctors I used previously.

I WOULD NEVER TRUST THIS PRACTICE WITH MY CARE AGAIN. I paid $445 out of pocket for my first and…read moreonly appointment while uninsured and experiencing significant pain. The appointment lasted approximately 10-15 minutes. I was prescribed medication, told I needed additional testing that couldn't be performed there, and essentially advised to return when I had insurance because I likely couldn't afford the necessary evaluation. This prescription ended up being a $2000+ prescription I could not even pick up. Less than a month later, I obtained insurance and attempted to fill this prescription. It required prior authorization. When I contacted the office, I was told I needed to pay another $30. I pleaded with them after receiving nothing following that initial appointment to waive this fee. I was then initially led to believe this money was being required by the pharmacy. After questioning it, I learned it was actually an administrative fee charged by this office to complete the prior authorization. If your office charges a fee, say that. Don't make a patient believe the pharmacy is requesting money and change the explanation when questioned. I formally requested a refund of my $445. What happened afterward is what ultimately convinced me I would never return. Dr. Mark Bouffard personally contacted us after hours and continued calling into the evening. During those communications, he eventually offered to waive the fee... then free medication samples... and then just shouted that he "did not give a fuck." My husband and I personally heard this and felt troubled. This person is not stable. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable or safe continuing care with this practice. Then I received the response to my formal complaint from Jennifer Esguerra, the practice administrator/office manager. My paperwork was returned covered in handwritten annotations and condescending commentary. Directly next to my signature she wrote: "WHO SIGNED THIS?" I did. The patient who paid your office $445 and was asking to have her concerns addressed professionally?! I was stunned that this was considered an appropriate response from the administration of a medical practice. A doctor's office has every right to deny a refund or charge administrative fees. Patients have every right to expect those fees to be explained honestly and to be treated with professionalism and basic respect when they question them. This review isn't simply about being denied a refund. It's about the entire experience: a $445 appointment I found wholly inadequate, the additional fee and changing explanation for it, after-hours calls, being harassed and offered free samples after raising concerns, hearing my physician say he "did not give a fuck," and finally receiving my complaint back covered in handwritten commentary from the practice administrator. This experience left me feeling that collecting fees mattered considerably more than making me feel heard, respected or confident in my care. If you're seeking treatment for chronic pain, research your options carefully. You deserve to feel safe and respected by the people you're trusting with your health. I cannot speak for anyone else's experience. I can only speak to mine and one visit was more than enough. NEVER AGAIN!

I am new to the desert from Los Angeles and I desperately needed to find a pain management doctor…read more I called the office to make an appointment and was instructed to leave ONE message and my call would be returned in the order it was received. The voicemail states the doctor is in the office two days a week, but they don't tell you which two days. I called once a week for four weeks straight. I finally got a call back and I told the girl and I mean girl, that I have never seen an office that operates this way. Her response to me was "my bad". My response to her was this is worse than being bad. I finally was able to get an appointment. I checked in even though they said they didn't have me on the schedule and waited a few minutes to prepare new patient instructions on my phone. Why couldn't they have sent that to me prior to save time? One of the girls took me into a room and said they would check me in. They asked me what insurance I had and I said Blue Shield, she said we don't take Blue Shield. I was in complete shock and made a statement that I should not repeat here. That should be one of the first questions that an office asks a new patient. I told her that I wanted to speak with the doctor and she would not allow me to do so. Stay away from this office - they are horrible. I can only imagine what type of care this doctor would provide. I know for a fact that she is aware of the shenanigans that go on in this office. Shame on her.

This letter I sent to Eisenhower Patient Relations tells why I'm giving Dr. Wong this one-star…read morereview: To Eisenhower Patient Relations, The letter I sent to Dr. Wong through the portal, yesterday, summarizes the medical situation that I just went through: Dr. Wong, when I came to see you about what I thought was piriformis syndrome, with that large swollen area over the muscle, you gave me a Toradol shot, trigger point injection and sent me to PT, none of which helped, after which you referred me to Sports Med to get an MRI. In hindsight, sadly, all those pre-referral treatments probably aggravated the actual cause. The MRI revealed that I'd actually TORN my gluteus maximus, one-third of it, and there was a large fluid pocket above it that needed to be aspirated. Aspiration led to suspicion that the material in the fluid pocket was something requiring more testing and two days later, sports doc called me to say come into the hospital immediately, that fluid is a massive staph infection! I was released from Eisenhower Medical on Sunday after being admitted on Friday evening. Still on heavy antibiotics with a drainage tube and bag attached to my upper right butt. Swelling and pain, alone, can be a warning sign of a staph infection, according to medical literature, a warning sign sometimes mistaken as strictly muscle pain. At my age, that should have justified, for insurance, an immediate MRI that would have led to a quicker resolution and not put me at further risk of the staph getting deep into my muscles or my blood stream. Next time you see a patient with similar symptoms, you'll now know that there's the possibility of Staph as well as other options. Jonathan Bernstein Founder Bernstein Crisis Management ------------------------------------------------------------------------- In short, I was just lucky that my body contained the large infection area to a location where it could be drained and my Concierge Primary Care, Dr. Sanchez, has just ordered the drain removed because the liquid flow has dropped dramatically. In the time between Dr. Wong's missed diagnosis and the time the staph was infected and I was hospitalized was all time when I wasn't being treated for an infection at all - so it got worse. I ended up with a too-near-death experience. I loved the other docs involved - Dr. Sanchez, Dr. Chang the interventional radiologist - but I think Dr. Wong missed this diagnosis big time and the hospital should take appropriate steps.
