EDIT: I realized that my location is for my previous address. This event occurred in South Amboy NJ. This was a frustrating and anger inducing experience. I made an appointment for a mouse problem in the basement. The initial visit was fine, as the technician, let's name him M, placed a number of traps in the basement, attic, garage, and in the cabinet below the sink. I was informed to call them in two weeks whereupon the traps would be checked. I made the necessary call for the follow up visit. The tech who showed up was not M, but someone else who would not check the attic, since he almost fell trying to lower the steps. Ok, I accepted this and made a call back to the office emphasizing that it would be best if M returned to check the attic traps. They agreed, but instead of M showing up for the follow up visit No. 2, it was, once again, a different employee. He told me he was unable to navigate the attic ladder because he had a bad shoulder. Here is where my frustrating started to rise, but my anger was still held in abeyance. Once more I called the office and stated that the second employee was unable to enter the attic and M needed to come here to do this task. I was assured that M would be the one to come for follow up visit No. 3, between 12pm-2pm. On the day in question 2pm comes and goes and no one shows up. Now my anger finally rears its head along with the frustration to match. Despite this, I patiently waited until 3:15 to once again call the office and ask where is M as he is over an hour past due. I'm told that she will contact M and call me right back. 45 minutes and no call back later, I shouted a few stress relieving expletives and departed the scene as I had other things to do. While one the road, I finally got a call back around a half hour later saying M could be there around 5pm. I let them know that I was no longer there. It was agreed that M would make an appearance on Tuesday April 14, between 2pm-4pm. Tuesday rolls around and did M show up for follow up visit No. 4? Of course not. Did they have a shred of integrity and call me either that day, or the proceeding days, to offer an apology and lame reason for another no show? Of course not. I never bothered calling the incompetent and poor excuse of professionals back, as my anger was too great, and I knew all I would be doing is spitting into the wind anyway. In conclusion, I do not know if the owner of this company has the ability to respond to my complaint so understand this; I have a processed check as payment, along with paper receipts, and phone records authenticating my narrative. If the owner can respond and attempts to mitigate the severity of my complaint, this can only be achieved by stating falsehoods. read more

We called for service have used them in the past and should know they need a ladder. Person came with no ladder told us to call and let them know we need a 30 foot ladder. We rescheduled and let the woman on the phone know that we need a 30 foot ladder. They were supposed to come on Tuesday between 1 and 3 got a text at 2:30 they weren't coming. Coming Wednesday between 1-3 we were out arrived back home at 11:30 they were in our yard standing on the railing of our deck spraying up into the wind and the product was just blowing away. No LADDER! Called the office and the woman kept saying she doesn't know anything. I said maybe she she find out and call me back because this is horrible customer service. She hung up. We seem to have birds in our attic so we called E&G. They set an appointment for today. Tim showed up on time. Company car was wrapped with logos but had parts hanging off. Tim does not have a company shirt or anything else to distinguish himself as an E&G employee. Office told him it was a groundhog problem. It clearly was not as we have a bird issue. Tim has no ladder and is driving an Ford Escort sized vehicle. He agrees to look in the attic. We do not have pull down steps and a ladder must be used. We offer our ladder and he agrees. He climbs halfway up the ladder with head and shoulders in the attic. Calls out where there is light coming through the siding etc. Quotes us $1295 to seal it up and place tunnel so birds can exit. We ask about nests removal etc. That is additional. We ask for an estimate he goes to his car writes up estimate with no information $1795? Gives estimate and leaves. Leaves ladder under attic access point. Later I take the dog out. Someone had dug the mulch on one side and stone and dirt out of the other side of my sidewalk. This was done before he rang the doorbell. I will let the people judge if he was creating groundhog holes where none existed before or he moved dirt to show us the potential for groundhog holes. I remind everyone we asked them to come for birds in the attic. Some seems shady. Maybe the appointment guys get money on commission, who knows but this is not the level of professionalism I expect for $1295-1795 or whatever the actual price was going to be. read more

I was horrified when I found a mouse on one of the glue traps in my crawl space so I immediately called for estimates on extermination services. E&G was the first to respond and gave me an appointment quickly. A very nice salesman came over and immediately put me at ease. Naturally, I was hysterical as a single woman who keeps a very clean home. He informed of what their company could do and how the process would work and set me up for treatment the next day. I felt so relieved once I knew a remedy was on the way and the problem was not severe at all. I'm so terrified of mice! The next day, the exterminator came over to do the initial treatment and answered all of my questions, no matter how inane. He also did everything I needed; plugging all holes that were left by the previous owner during the shoddy renovation of my house before I bought it. $932.97 for four rodent traps that haven't caught a thing in two months. They make you buy your own animal traps and charge $325 every time they come for a pickup. NEVER USE!!! Terrible service, terrible value. For one, it took them five months to figure out how to get the squirrels out of our roof, and they would never come to check, I'd have to call every week to have them come back as the squirrel ate yet another hole in our house. They just kept moving the one way tunnel which clearly was not working. When by becoming assertive they finally agreed to use metal mesh in addition, finally the squirrels were gone. Like I said, this took FIVE MONTHS. As if all this wasn't bad enough, the REFUSED to fill the holes they put the mesh over with a putty or spackle. Refused, told us to call a roofer. THIS COST $700 and you're not even going to patch the holes that were created because you did a lazy job? Never again. I would definitely NOT recommend these scammers. read more

The salesman promised the bed bug problem would be solved in three visits. Five visits later, the problem remains unsolved. Since their chemicals weren't working, we requested heat treatment before their final visit and the owner promised the techs scheduled to arrive the next day would bring the necessary equipment. They didn't have it when they showed up. This company didn't deliver on a single promise it made. When we called after they broke their promise of sending heat treatment equipment they gave us the run around and refused to refund our money until they were contacted by Angie's List.com on our behalf. Pricing is through the roof! They charge way over $1000 for about an hour's work and the paperwork is shoddy at best.

We prefer John but are happy to have anybody come to spray for ants and fill the bait traps back up. John has been coming to our place for over 15 years so he knows the layout best which is why we prefer him, but we always get exceptional service from anyone who comes! The receptionists are helpful scheduling is around office hours since we have a home office. And every single technician is professional and friendly and always willing to listen to us to go above and beyond what they would normally do! We live with our back to the woods so we have them out every week or so in the spring and summer to spray for ants and every month in the winter to help control the mice situation. They've even gotten rid of flying squirrels for us! Can't beat E&G! read more

We needed help today removing a raccoon that had gotten into the house and taken up residence in the bedroom. E&G said a team would be there between 1 and 5 pm. At Noon, Marco and James arrived, figured out the best way to corner the thing, and executed a perfect (and nonviolent) capture. I hope I will never have to call E&G again, but if I do I will call them without hesitation and I'll ask for Marco and James. We contacted this company this morning due to a worsening squirrel problem in our attic. They promised to have a technician at our home between 10am and 11am. After no show by 11:30, we called them and they promised that someone would be here by 1pm. 1pm came and went, and still no technician showed up. Long story short, they pushed the time back 4 more times until after 5pm. I have wasted my entire day because of the incompetence of their scheduling staff. They made no effort whatsoever to let us know they would be late, and we had to call them each time to find out what was going on. read more

The salesman that came were nice. 2 men came, one was new. They kept interrupting each other and it was confusing. I should have bargained their price down but I just wanted to get rid of the ants in my house! I didn't know that they wouldn't spray that day, that they had to send someone else. The day of my appointment I was told he would come between 9-11. He showed up at 12. After I called to find out where he was they said someone would call me back, nobody called back. I had to call again. When he did show up, he smelled awful. I had to air out my house from the smell of him. Also, he told me they sent him to the wrong town. Needless to say the spraying did not get rid of the ants. A week later, he randomly showed up at my door without an appointment. He was even wondering why the office sent him to my house again. Now I am here waiting for them to come again. I was told between 1-4. I called at 3:30 to make sure someone was assigned to my house. Nobody knew and said they would call me back. At 4:00 I called back and they said he would be here by 4:30. At 4:15 a man called me again and said he would be here at 5. I have a feeling nobody scheduled my house. I have an infant at home that I had to bring to a friends house because she cannot be in the house when spraying or 4 hours after. This means she cannot return until at least 9pm. E&G were contracted by my daughter to repair close to $10,000 in termite damage. I am a Monmouth County contractor and was impressed by Bob Jr. from E&G who came to look at the job. The damage was extensive. They showed up to start the work some weeks ago. The workman are professional and courteous. Problem is that Ed the owner keeps sending them to other jobs and sends them back sporadically to do a half day here and there. It is clear that Ed overbooks work and doesn't seem to care when work isn't completed. He schedules work beyond his abilities to complete any one job. I am now having to work around the unfinished portions. He makes promises to finish the work but fails miserably to meet his commitments. DONT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Their scheduling is a nightmare. Called E&G for a possible bed bug problem. I had woken up one morning with what looked like bed bug bites on my left arm and leg. A technician came to my place, and without even looking at my mattress determined (based on the bites) that we had a bed bug infestation and gave us an $800+ quote for treatment. I was skeptical given how quickly the examination went. I've seen people online say a bed bug extermination is fruitless if you can't actually find where the bugs are nested. The next day I went to a dermatologist to have the bites examined, only for her to tell me they are not bed bug bites, but posion oak rashes. No wonder I couldn't find any bed bugs, I never had them!! That did not matter to this company though, they still recommended expensive treatment based on the rash alone. Rule of thumb, don't trust an exterminator to treat an infestation they're not even sure is there. Thank god I went to the doctor, or I would have thrown away good money on the shoddy recommendation of E&G. Save yourself time and money and go to a more reputable pest control company, not just one trying to make money any way they can. read more

First I would like to say that this is the first time I'm writing a review on any company. Over the summer I saw bats going under the fascia board on the side of my house. Today I was ripped off. I had this company give a bat estimate and the man didn't even go in the attic where I said they looked like they were going. He said he smelled bat guano from the latter. Than at a later date I set up a appointment to have this company come out to bat proof my house and remove bats. The man and I went into the attic to find no bats. No signs of bat guano at all!!!!!. Now mind you I had three different companies come out! Not one went into my attic!!!! Terminix Man poked his head up and said "you have Fruit Bats and they are shifting now let me close this up"! Terminix is the biggest scam of them all. If you want scam someone at least have knowledge of what bats actually live in this country. At the time I knew nothing about bats so Critter Ridder came and laughed when I told him because these bats don't live in this Country. I chose this company because the price was the best and the man seemed most knowledgeable out of the three companies. As I call Eddie from this company to explain I have no bats and I never had a proper estimate he could only lower down the price from 800 to 700.00 . Now what they did is something I could of done myself in an hour. They spent a hour at my house putting copper mesh in certain spots on my house. Put a tunnel in one of the attic incase my bat less house has a bat. I just paid 700.00 for a house that is already bat less. The bats moved on long time a go and if only I had a proper estimate from one of these companies I could of done the work myself. Yusuf E. I noticed swarming termites and later contacted E& G. Their salesman did a partial inspection and could find no signs of infestation but offered a full treatment since the house was for sale. He stated I would receive a one year guarantee for the treatment. The worker arrived and asked if his company did a inspection for termites. He never checked himself. I told him about the swarmers in the ground near the house. He performed a treatment by pouring buckets of water and what he said was chemicals around the outside of the foundation gave a receipt and left. Never returned for any follow up. I called the company for a certificate of their guarantee and they said they would send but never did. I dealt with terminex years before and they were very professional and followed up their work.
