Nice location but they didn't honor a coupon on their website. Everything checked out on the coupon as far as in-store purchase and expiration date but it wouldn't scan. So he just said sorry and I said I guess I'll put it back. There was no reason that coupon should've worked. I'm not sure why he didn't honor it, but I won't be back. called to see if they had Floods Penetrol before I drove over, they said they did. When I got there, they did not. So I tried to find out who I talked to and no one would admit they did. No apologies, so I laid into them, the assistant manager told me her employees make mistakes because they are human but no apology, I laid into her, she called the police, I left. read more

Terrible customer service! Manager on duty was extremely rude about not being able to advise of what item was listed for a promotion and not allowing the system to use my rewards coupon. Manager would not assist with finding this out to assist me either using this coupon. Left store and then manager came outside to watch me get into my vehicle and stare me down. I used this as a U-haul pickup. The service was great, the truck was ready with what I ordered, and I was out in 15 minutes. I returned the truck a little late and was not charged any extra since it wasn't reserved by anyone else. Charges were exactly as expected. I also grabbed some last minute hardware I'd need in setting up my new place. The staff that helped me was actually familiar with the hardware, and recommended something slightly different than I was looking for, which turned out easier to install than what I was originally looking for. We are very frustrated to not have a place in Delaware that can sell a sheet of plywood. Often we go to Ace, and they are more expensive on everything than Home depot or Lowes would offer, but obviously because of their size and volume. Sometimes we find what we need, but it is expensive, often they don't have what we need. Service is excellent, always a few people around to help. I wish I could give a better review but this Ace Hardware needs a ton of improvement. For example, it's early June. They are out of mulch! This always happens. Also I have called them when they are open, and it goes to a recording that asks me to leave a voicemail. Then the voicemail box is full! Normal businesses at least put you on hold until someone can pick up the call. Whenever I go into the store, I am never asked if I can be helped. I am always on my own, searching for whatever it is. Except, when there happens to be a young employee. The young ones are the most helpful! The older ones ignore you. read more

I'm a big fan of Ace Hardware due to its proximity to our home on Delaware's west side. Since its merger into Buehler's there have been some positive and negative results. Postivie - Hours. They are open 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. most days. So when that pipe blows you're not stuck driving 20 minutes to find a replacement. Negative - My experience has been that the overall employee knowledge has decreased. Two key members - Gary Cox and the gentleman that came over from the old location - know about everything you want to know about hardware and such. But if neither of them are there ... the help is more than likely a high school kid. Good selection of items at a reasonable cost. read more

Out of 4/5 staff members I talked to 4 were rude, unfriendly, and seemed like me asking for their help was taking something out of their day. Ace is a small town type hardware store, therefore doesn't carry EVERYTHING you might need. But the staff, especially the manager, is very willing to do anything in his power to get you what you need. they have helped me immensely with some of my painting escapades, and have even called me to make sure things are working out as planned. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for a small store, and their sale items REALLY are on sale, not just like .75 cents off. Lots of rebates available as well. Great store read more

Unfortunately I cannot leave a positive reviews as the doors had been locked before the posted closing time. I am now loading up my 4 kids ages 6 3 2 1 to drive 45 minutes to the nearest relative home to give baths as I had to shut off the water due to damaged pipe that I could have purchased 3 fittings and restored water to my home, had the doors not been locked early. My initial contact with this U-Haul location (Ace Hardware, Delaware Ohio (the old Buehler's Grocery location)) was good. But when I returned the rented truck later that afternoon, I was treated rude enough to cause me to re-think any future rental needs I may have (I've probably rented 8-10 times over the last several years). When I returned the truck, I also wanted to return a package of unused furniture pads. I was told that there would be no refund. When I asked why, the counter person stated that it was "in the contract". No where in the 3 page contract does it state "no refund on unused furniture pads". I pointed out that earlier that morning, when I rented the truck, I was asked if I needed pads, and after learning there are 6 in a package, I asked for 2 packages. I only used 1 package, so I wanted to return the unused pack. To me, it is the same as when I was asked how many miles I expected to drive, to which I replied 50. Since I did not drive 50 or more, then I am not charged for the miles I didn't use. What's the difference between not using the projected number of miles driven vs. expecting to use 2 packs of pads but only using 1? Seriously? First he said it was in the contract, which it's not. Then he moved some items around on the counter, which covered up a sign that he used his pencil to rudely tap on. It said $25 additional charge if the pads weren't folded and the truck wasn't swept out. Was I supposed to move things around on the counter to make sure I read all of the signs on the counter? Of course, then it was pointed out that the same sign is in the back of the truck. Sorry I missed it. Next, it was "U-Hauls policy, call the 1-800 number". Then, after some confusion over the odometer readings and them trying to figure out how I drove over 40,000 miles in less then 8 hours, a second clerk had retrieved the used pads from the rear of the truck and brought them in (6 pads) to the counter. During the incompetent confusion, I began folding the used pads, to which I was told to "stop, that since they were now in the building I couldn't do that". Then I was told they would "forgive" the $25 fee for not having folded the used pads before returning them. Hey U-Haul, or Ace Hardware, how about some customer service training? Maybe I'm just old school, but how about teaching that the customer comes first? Geez, how about showing a senior citizen a little respect? I didn't think I was asking for too much, considering that a package of pads only costs $5 ?? Only $5. Had I been treated differently, I may not have acted rude in return. Maybe my voice would not have been as loud. But the way I was treated, it was enough to make me go out of my way to make this complaint, and as I said, rethink my future rental needs. 5 dollars??? read more
