Wish I could write 0 stars. I was just in the store looking for security screws bites tips. When I couldn't find them I went to a desk for help as I also needed to order $2700 worth of binding screws foe a commercial project. The lady who i found out later is the manager was down an isle where she seen me standing patiently for at least 5 minutes. As she came out to me another employee was walking up with another customer. Before she acknowledged them she greeted me with"has one of the guys helped you yet?" I clearly said no. Then the employee said something and without saying anything else she walked away to help him. My 5 minutes patiently meant nothing. I assumed the other employee may have helped me but he followed them. 2 people helping 1 customer when I was waiting patiently to spend almost $3000. Regardless I am shopping elsewhere for sure for now on. Oh by the way when I complained she said she thought I said no to her question which I did but she said her question was do you need any help? Clearly wasn't what she said. And I was standing there for 5 minutes or more facing behind the counter. Noone that doesn't need help stands there looking aimlessly at nothing. read more

I am so impressed with this store! Each time I came in I was greeted by the cashier. Each time I asked where the item I wanted was located, she immediately told me which aisle and what side it was on! I was in and out in five minutes. If you are, do it yourself or and need to be walk through a lot of things or have a old home and hard to find parts whether it's plumbing or whatever It's a good place to go to. Roush is till my favorite hardware store and is - hands down - one of the best hardware stores to be found. The staff is friendly, easy to find and very knowledgeable. Roush Hardware is a "genuine hardware store" with knowledgeable staff who knows hardware and who are always really to assist you. And - unlike the big box home improvement stores, it's always easy to find someone to help you. The store is an "employee owned" business so the employees have a vested interest in helping you. This is a hardware store where you can still buy individual screws or nails - yes, if you only need 3 or 4 of a particular screw - you can buy 3 or 4 screws. Of course, you can also buy screws and nails by the box - but my point is - this is an genuine old style hardware store that sells you what you need. They have a service desk in the back where you can buy various sizes of chain, rope, etc. by the foot. The service desk also sells various weights of screen (from standard window screen up thru the gauge hardware cloth that you'd use to keep critters out of your attic) cut to size. If you have a hardware issue and you don't know what you need, the staff at Roush can help you with most projects. This is one of the most well-stocked and well-staffed hardware stores I've been in. Although I'm at a loss to explain why, I love hardware stores. And among the best hardware stores, Roush Hardware is at the top. When you walk in there, it almost makes you feel like you have stepped back in time and into a small town, because there is a feeling of community and a down-to-earth friendliness and helpfulness about the staff that you just don't see in the chain stores. I also like that there are a lot of unique items you don't see in a lot of other hardware stores. I suppose that's the reason it also mentions gifts and toys on the front of the store. A big Yay for the independent businesses of the world!! What lured me here was some coupons they mailed me for being a new resident.... a free florescent light bulb, and $10 off any purchase of $10 or more... WELL OF COURSE I'M GOING!!! What a nice little surprise... The have everything!! It's like Lowe's condensed into a nice small, friendly neighborhood store. They really do have everything!! From your standard hardware stuff, to housewares, to Department 56 stuff - for those not in the know, Dept. 56 makes the snow Villages, the Halloween Villages, and Snow Babies. Yes, all that in addition to hardware!! I love supporting local independent businesses... I'm one that avoids the Wal-Marts of he world as much as I can. So anyway, their coupons is what made them known to me and lured me there, but after spending a small fortune on things I didn't even know I needed... Called the local big box store to find out if they had one that could accommodate a 700W microwave and quickly realized that she knew less than I did about electrical cords. It's comforting to know that after two decades of massive "mega-store" expansion, there is still a "Mom & Pop" business that's not only still open, it's flourishing. Roush Hardware is a survivor in the retail war for the ages. I confess. I am a Home Depot fan. I've already reviewed my favorite one. And yes, they have a lot more to offer than little ol' Roush Hardware, but there's no Home Depot to be found in the middle of Westerville. I guess that's one reason why Roush Hardware is still open. :-) Another reason is that they've got history on their side. They've been in business forever and a day - since 1955 - much longer than Home Depot. What does this mean? It means that they know what they're doing. Their staff is far better prepared and willing to help the customer than any other hardware store around. In other words, this is what retail America used to be - reliable and honest. Whatever you do, support the little guys out there - unless, of course, they're not supporting you. They'll go out of business soon enough anyway. My favorite hardware store to go to. Their prices are competitive with the big boys, they are locally owned and because of it they can work with you to make deals. Just got a really nice expensive grill here and they delivered it and it had already been assembled. Yes it was slightly more than online but the fact it came assembled and they delivered it right inside my garage was well worth it. I also love the fact that when you come in here the person at the desk will ask how they can help you today. I don't know how many hours of my life I've lost wandering through a huge Home Depot or Lowe's with no clue where the heck to go to get what I want is! So you can get in and out of here quick. We normally do not have a problem with Rousch Hardware. We wanted to get the screen replaced on our sliding door as well as the handle and wheels. The employee obviously did not want to do it. He said the wheels were fine (even though the end was flat on one), the screen was torn around the handle and in other spots. He kept saying it was fine. We took our screen and left. I have had screens repaired before at Roush and never had this much trouble. read more

About 2/3 of the store is dedicated to hardware and DIY supplies, but the rest is almost more of a general store feeling. Candy, kitchen tools, hobby supplies, housewares, toys and model kits, sweatshirts, even some sporting goods. Places like Home Depot and Loews will have more things on hand, and probably have lower prices on things like power tools and major appliances, but Roush handles things with a bit more of a personal touch and an attention to what you need - almost as if you went next door to ask the opinion of a handy neighbor, who just happened to be able to sell you what you needed to finish the job. Surprisingly enough the prices are very competitive with the major.chain stores.....and they are local. I have been coming here since I was a little girl, so going here brings back good memories as well. Given that certain brands are the same price no matter where you go, we decided to buy our weed eater here. I've spent 15 minutes in Home Depot or Lowe's trying to find someone to help me. The hardware store is the one place where you really do want someone to greet you and ask if you need help finding something. Who is "just browsing" when they go to a hardware store? Because of its limited size, you may not have the same array of options for each item, as you might in HD or Lowes. However, I've always found it much easier to find exactly what I was looking for at Roush. If you want the lowest absolute price on a tool or appliance, then shop online or at a big-box. But if you're not exactly sure what you need, or you're having a hard time finding exactly what you need, you're likely to have success at Roush. It's local and employee-owned, so if that kind of stuff matters to you, then all the more reason to shop there. I can go in and tell them what I'm trying to work on- home, car, whatever- and they'll know exactly what I need, or at least offer a good suggestion. Also, they have things the big guys don't, like salt licks. Support your local hardware store- you'll miss them if they go. This is a great hardware store. Never thought to review them till today. I went there to check out leaf blowers. The staff is very knowledgeable and very low pressure. I talked to the sales associate about the different models of Stihl and he treated me like we had been schoolmates from way back when. He was very knowledgeable about the different models and helped with all the necessary warranty paperwork. I brought it home and fired it up with no issues. Purchased 5 screens from Roush and they were terribly made. The hardware is falling out of frame and the location of the locks are not accurate. I totally understand why they require the pay first option. I would not recommend. At $50 bucks each . Also gave me a screen where theY cut slot for latch but obviously it was in error so the recut another slot. read more

Honestly, the best old store in Westerville. I've never found myself leaving Roush Hardware without finding what I came in for. they've always offered free popcorn, and if you don't know where what it is you're looking for is, the first employee you see is usually more than happy to point you in the right direction. They've even got a shop in the back where they'll cut keys, chains, lengths of tubing, ropes and sharpen tools for you. I love Roush Hardware. Every square foot of it. For the size of the place, they always seem to have things that I can't find at Home Depot or Lowes. The prices are reasonable and the service is fantastic. Nineteen years ago they listened to me and recommended a LawnBoy mower. It's strange to say, but I love that mower. It is still going strong. A few years later, they recommended a specific Stihl leaf blower. Yep, you got it, still going strong after 15 years. Exactly the right blower for me, powerful enough but still lightweight. So they are batting 1000 on the power tools. My nephew was doing some plumbing work for me. A particular fitting was quite "gunked" up. Went to Home Depot for a replacement (they are closer to me than Roush) -- no luck. Went to Roush: yep they had it, but.... They said that they could just clean up the old fitting with their power wire brush -- no charge. Worked like a charm. On to my blender. I needed a new gasket for the glass container. I called places that I thought would have it -- no luck. On an off chance, I took it with me when I went to Roush to buy some sort of hardware item. Of course they had a selection of blender container gaskets. I think it cost $1.49. The employees are very knowledgeable, they are helpful, and it is always a pleasant experience. read more

I have been a Roush customer since moving here from Chicag 45 years ago. They have almost everything I need in stock. What they don't have they will order for me. When one, for example, needs to have a screen door repaired, try to find that service at a big box store. Just today, I found a $20 product at Roush that was priced at $28 at a big box store. And it never fails, every time I enter the store I always hear a pleasant "May I help you." You need not worry about Walmart, your customers will not abandon you!!!
