A big Yay for the independent businesses of the world!! What lured me here was some coupons they mailed me for being a new resident.... a free florescent light bulb, and $10 off any purchase of $10 or more... WELL OF COURSE I'M GOING!!! What a nice little surprise... The have everything!! It's like Lowe's condensed into a nice small, friendly neighborhood store. They really do have everything!! From your standard hardware stuff, to housewares, to Department 56 stuff - for those not in the know, Dept. 56 makes the snow Villages, the Halloween Villages, and Snow Babies. Yes, all that in addition to hardware!! I love supporting local independent businesses... I'm one that avoids the Wal-Marts of he world as much as I can. So anyway, their coupons is what made them known to me and lured me there, but after spending a small fortune on things I didn't even know I needed... (happens to me frequently), I discovered I love this great little store. Will definitely be back!

It's comforting to know that after two decades of massive "mega-store" expansion, there is still a "Mom & Pop" business that's not only still open, it's flourishing. Roush Hardware is a survivor in the retail war for the ages. I confess. I am a Home Depot fan. I've already reviewed my favorite one. And yes, they have a lot more to offer than little ol' Roush Hardware, but there's no Home Depot to be found in the middle of Westerville. I guess that's one reason why Roush Hardware is still open. :-) Another reason is that they've got history on their side. They've been in business forever and a day - since 1955 - much longer than Home Depot. What does this mean? It means that they know what they're doing. Their staff is far better prepared and willing to help the customer than any other hardware store around. In other words, this is what retail America used to be - reliable and honest. Whatever you do, support the little guys out there - unless, of course, they're not supporting you. They'll go out of business soon enough anyway. But as for the 53 year old establishments like Roush Hardware - they're in business for a reason - they're very good at what they do and their prices are even better. Stop by Roush Hardware. They'll greet you with a smile and serve you right away. There's no waiting around for help here. As a matter of fact, more than one person will want to assist you more than likely before you're out the door. Can you put a price tag on that?

You won't find this type of service at Lowes or Home Depot!!

What a wonderful hardware store! They make buying a snap and corrected an error (on our end) with ease. Shop local!

Then we realized we had no idea what any of the differences were so we found an associate. We hit the jackpot with our associate as she knew everything about them and was able to find a price that was in our budget while still meeting our needs. We got the thing home and found using it was easy and fun. Soon we had a weed free patio. Thanks home depot!

Huge quantities of pretty much anything you need. I prefer Lowe's, and occasionally Menard's, but sometimes this is handy. And it's good enough. Today we went for the kid's project, which they do monthly and I just found out about. Go early- before it starts- because they are very popular. Staff were not particularly helpful, but they were overwhelmed. Get your kit, go to the table (in the lumber section,) and get building. Baby K loved it. They built and painted a butterfly house. Plus you get to keep the apron, and get stickers, a pin, etc. A good hour or so for the kids, and they learn some basic skills. Three stars, both for the store for selection/service/prices, and for the kid's event, which wasn't all it could have been. But hey, it's free, and if you have kids, definitely go- they'll love it.
