The store was busy. All the workers were busy. But they all made sure to greet every customer & follow up with offers of help. The building's above 100 years old. It reminded me, while I was waiting, of the small town hardware shops my grandpa & I would hit when we needed supplies between roofing jobs. That was a great memory for me. Those background places in the past gather importance when folks are gone. Small shops navigate the big box waves through specialized products & good customer service. It's not tiny, but it's not huge. Lots of options for each thing we needed. Bright and open, nicely arranged, tons of things you need- and don't, plenty of impulse buy stuff set around, so watch yourself. Prices for those, and in general, are maybe a little high, but the location will be handy for many people and you can avoid the hassle and gas use of going to a big box. I have found those products to be very low quality, often breaking after only a season or two of normal use. Neither the shop nor ACE offer any warranty, referring the buyer instead to the manufacturer's warranty. This has multiple times at this location and they are attempting to overcharge customers on an ongoing basis. I've made several purchases here from toilet seats to a/c filters to spray paint to patio umbrellas. It seems like no one has an agenda to push a big sale. One of the managers selected a tool and spent about 20 minutes trying to remove the screws, even attempting to modify the tool on a grinder. Eventually he asked another employee to help. The second guy went to his car to get some specialized tool, spent another 10 minutes working on my problem, and finally removed the screws. I was pleasantly AMAZED that they would go to all that trouble for me. It was my first time in the store and I was going to buy a $5.00 screwdriver. These guys were incredibly helpful and generous with their time. They have earned a customer for life!

The lady who i found out later is the manager was down an isle where she seen me standing patiently for at least 5 minutes. As she came out to me another employee was walking up with another customer. Before she acknowledged them she greeted me with"has one of the guys helped you yet?" I clearly said no. Then the employee said something and without saying anything else she walked away to help him. My 5 minutes patiently meant nothing. I assumed the other employee may have helped me but he followed them. 2 people helping 1 customer when I was waiting patiently to spend almost $3000. Regardless I am shopping elsewhere for sure for now on. Oh by the way when I complained she said she thought I said no to her question which I did but she said her question was do you need any help? Clearly wasn't what she said. And I was standing there for 5 minutes or more facing behind the counter. Noone that doesn't need help stands there looking aimlessly at nothing.
