This was a complex project where we had to remove a lot of existing mixed flooring, deal with leveling costs creatively and work around our family while we lived in the space. The crew was exceptional. When there was problems that required creative solutions they figured out how to stay on budget and made custom flooring adapters to cover specific spacing issues. All of the flooring and baseboard install was done incredibly well. I still see little details where I'm impressed at the level of craftmanship they applied to getting tight corners, hitting rounds and hard angles. The floor has been in for some time now and we had absolutely no follow on issues.

We knew that we needed an expert to complete the job without the risk of damaging them. We had a difficult decision to make and for this project, we obtained 7 quotes. After looking into each of the companies through the CSLB website, we found out that only four of them had a valid contractors license. We felt very comfortable with George, the owner of Jace. He has vast knowledge of hardwood floors with years of experience, has a friendly demeanor, and is a fellow dog rescuer. One of the other reviews mentions a customer's satisfaction with Jace's refinishing of their 100 years old floors. Though his quote was not the lowest, we chose quality over price. And we are so happy we did. Carlos, the lead tech on our project is also very knowledgeable and approachable. He answered all of our questions, and explained everything they were doing throughout the various stages of the process. Carlos's assistant, Jair is friendly and a hard worker. After the work was completed, Mike came to inspect the work, and grout the transition from our Dining Room to our kitchen. I didn't even have to ask them to do this. George suggested it to replace the ugly molding that was previously there, and on which we would frequently stub our toes. Mike returned a second time to drop off a complementary Bona cleaning kit. From the initial Yelp request to the finish of our project, George and his team were stellar, exceeding our expectations. Our floors look amazing, as if they were newly installed! They took such care in my home and were so respectful and efficient! They assisted with some installation questions I had and got right to work. They were so careful moving my furniture around and I was so touched that they made sure my bed area was cleared at the end of their upstairs workdays so I didn't have to sleep on the couch. They used plastic sheeting to mask off closet and bathroom contents to keep the dust down as much as possible due to the floor leveling process. First impression meeting with Rafi was good. Unfortunately it just went downhill from there. The…read morefirst team who did our floor and stairs seemed to be professional as well. We did feel 12 bags of self leveling concrete was excessive when it looked like it was only used on a few corners of the room in a job less than 900 sq feet. Unfortunately one of the stair nosing broke within a couple weeks of install. Rafi was responsive in redoing the stairs stating it was a manufacturing defect and that the new version is stronger. Unfortunately the second team quality of work was very poor. They left holes in our walls that were patched poorly with plaster. Worst of all the stairs were apparently nailed to the subfloor and after a few weeks they started to rise leaving little holes and nails protruding from the floor. A few of the stair noses are loose as well. At this point, Rafi became unresponsive to have the flooring fixed. We ended up getting some of our money back through our credit card after months went by but the majority of the payment was by check. Basically we will need to replace the stairs again on our own dime. Buyer beware! Lifetime warranty doesn't mean anything if the installer ghosts you.

BEWARE! Take my advice: Turn around and don't look back. I hired Rafi from My Flooring Guy in…read moreHuntington Beach to install expensive solid wood flooring. While the work done was adequate, I would NEVER recommend them due to a few serious issues. First, during installation, Rafi told me the floor needed leveling here and there and that it would be extra. So I agreed to it. However, a part of the floor in the living room clearly isn't level because you can see where the floor dips slightly beneath the baseboard. Second, his workers busted my wood shutters in the same room. I never noticed any of this until later. On top of that, he never finished the job! I told him I was going to have some new interior doors installed after the floor installation. Toward the end, he told me his foreman Caleb recommended they wait to install transition strips in the bathroom and laundry room until after the doors were installed. It didn't make complete sense to me (nor to the door installers), but I said okay and gave Rafi the final payment, trusting they would return to finish the job. Now, he doesn't respond to calls or text messages, or he tells me his workers will be out and they never show up. DO NOT make the same mistake and give these shady characters your business. As a footnote, most positive reviews you read for this company and the previous owner, Guy, are from BEFORE Rafi bought the company. Do your research and steer clear of My Flooring Guy in Huntington Beach.
