If a friend were considering MAC for a home project, I would strongly discourage them. We hired MAC to replace our downstairs floors after a positive showroom experience. Tanner showed us Bjelin flooring that was gorgeous, exactly what we wanted. It was a relatively new product, but he spoke confidently about its durability. When he came to measure, I specifically showed our 15-year-old kitchen tile, which had become badly dinged over time, and asked if the new flooring would eventually look the same. I emphasized that durability was #1 to us. He assured me this flooring was exceptionally durable and would not end up looking like that. We received another quote about $2k less, but chose MAC because we expected a smoother project with them if anything went wrong. Sadly, that was not our experience. The product we were sold is not right for our family, and there were also problems with installation, communication, workmanship, and care of our home. Before the project began, I asked about protecting our cabinets and window shutters from construction dust. I was told by email and by project manager Matt that I didn't need to do anything because the crew would handle it. They did not. Only the kitchen cabinets were covered. When we returned home, dust was everywhere inside built-ins and bathroom cabinets and all over the shutters. I spent significant time cleaning and had our housecleaners help at an additional cost. Matt said a lockbox would be used for our key. Instead, I found our key sitting outside next to a planter. He also said he would meet me on the first morning to walk through everything. I waited, but no one came or even contacted me. They also showed little care for our property. They left large chunks of wood and sawdust throughout our yard and poured leftover concrete along the side of our house, onto our stepping-stone walkway and around plants where our children play. And then there was the workmanship. When we returned home, we found: * Multiple noticeable scratches on our new flooring * A dishwasher that could not open because the toe kick was too tall * A big hole in the drywall from demo * A large gap in another section of toe kick * The kitchen toe kick painted the wrong color * Missing hearth trim because they had ordered the wrong length * Finishing trim that took multiple visits to complete * Drain stopper of our newly installed bathroom faucet was broken and hidden * Our couch feet reinstalled incorrectly with stripped screws, requiring us to pay the couch company to repair them It took 6 days after I reported the dishwasher issue before they came back to remove the toe kick, meaning I couldn't use my dishwasher for nearly a week. The plumber they sent also hooked the dryer up incorrectly, so it was venting humidity back into our house. We were charged literally $900 for this work. When I brought up the broken drain stopper with Matt, he said his crew hadn't done it, but would cover the replacement. We had to contact the manufacturer, learn the stopper couldn't be purchased separately, and replace it ourselves. The lack of accountability was a recurring theme. When Kristin walked through the problems, she acknowledged some poor workmanship, but there was no recognition of the inconvenience this project had caused. And the flooring itself has been the biggest disappointment. We don't wear shoes in our house, put area rugs throughout the downstairs, every piece of furniture has thick felt pads, and we are extremely careful not to drag anything across the floor. Yet I discover new scratches daily. My children cannot even play normally with ANY toys on the floor without scratching it. The installation was supposed to take one week. Instead, the crew returned at least six additional times for repairs, mistakes, unfinished work, and corrections. It was summer and each time they came back was a morning I couldn't take my kids out to do something fun. The last few visits were particularly telling. MAC sent a guy who was already leaving the company to repaint the kitchen toe kick. He determined it needed primer, but instead told me to prime and paint it myself. I followed his instructions, but paint and primer leaked under the tape because it wasn't properly sealed. I then spent HOURS cleaning paint off our brand-new floors--something I never should have been responsible for. We expected a high level of care and professionalism for an $18,000+ project. Instead, we felt our home, time, and concerns were repeatedly treated as inconveniences. We trusted MAC to recommend a product that would work for our family after I specifically raised durability as a concern. We now have an expensive floor that requires constant babying and continues to scratch despite our care. read more

Many never responded, and others came back with prices that were far higher than expected. Went to Mac flooring to replace our carpet with either vinyl or hardwood. We have kids and wanted long lasting and easy to maintain and also low voc, low chemical floors. They helped us figure out which brand to buy and introduced us to an organic, no chemical flooring that has real wood in it vs printed plastic. I'm glad we talked to them and viewed the samples in person otherwise I would have never know about this brand. We found the exact color and style for our home. I was concerned about how they would install in our 2nd floor since we had furnitures, toys etc and they made it easy by offering moving services - they moved everything out of the way, covered our items and made sure to take care of our belongings. We chose MAC Flooring & Interiors for the installation of our new carpet and baseboards. After seeing their reviews on Yelp, we stopped into the showroom to see their selection of carpets. There were so many choices and we took some samples home to make a final decision on what we wanted. Once that was done, Tanner came out quickly to measure and everything was ordered. Originally they thought 2 weeks to get the shipment in , but by the end of the first week it was here and we were able to schedule the carpet installation. About a week after that the baseboards were put in and painted. Each of the crews showed up on time, were very pleasant, worked efficiently, and cleaned up each day. He was a huge help during the selection process. They have so many wonderful and different flooring samples to choose from. The installation team was fabulous!!!! Chris installed the linoleum in our kitchen and it turned out beautiful! He took care to make sure the walls were not damaged during installation and he placed lovely trim as the border surrounding the floor. The team of Julio, Alex and Martin (I think that his name is Martin. Sorry if it's not) installed our carpet throughout the home. It was fascinating to watch the process. We had our carpet installed 5 years ago. The showroom was nice and the salespeople helpful. The install was awful and the carpet is thinning out in certain non high use areas, even though we got a "high quality" one. The carpet wasn't tacked down correctly. Pretty awful work and quality of product in relation to the price. I wouldn't trust them to do the rest of my house. Even if they sub out the installers they should be following up on the quality. Installers did just enough to make it look good and get paid. read more

We just finished having existing laminated wood removed and a beautiful porcelain wood grain floor installed by MAC throughout our entire first floor. This was quite an involved project including the kitchen, den, office, powder room, laundry room and closet. MAC moved and reset kitchen, laundry, and powder room appliances and fixtures. The fit and finish of the porcelain panels, baseboards, and full function of the appliances and fixtures was wonderful. Was looking for a company earlier this year to assist w/ the remodel of my parents condo in Dana Point. The scope of the work included renovation of the kitchen and 2 & 1/2 baths as well as replacing the flooring. Interviewed 4 contractors and ended up going w/ MAC Flooring & Interiors as we concluded they would be the best to execute the project in a timely manner with a fair price - and they certainly didn't disappoint. The entire experience from the initial meetings w/ Tanner (the flooring expert), Matt (the project manager), and Kristin (Owner and designer) to the very end of project was outstanding. Partnering and communicating with Matt was excellent throughout the entire project, and he seamlessly worked w/ other contractors hired to paint & replace doors and closets. After visiting the property at the beginning of the project Kristin had a keen sense of what we were looking to accomplish and delivered in effortlessly suggesting the perfect design elements like flooring and tile. She stayed involved every step of the way, meeting us at the house at key points during construction. Pricing was competitive, and we felt we received value for money. There were several change orders but all of them were either due to scope changes we requested or things out of their control. Like with every big project like this there are hiccups but all of them were addressed in a timely manner to our complete satisfaction. When we chose them at the end of Feb we asked if they could start work 3rd week of April and we were happy when work started on time. We were pleased that they completed all the work in 3 months. MAC Flooring & Interiors is more known for their flooring work, and they certainly didn't disappoint with beautifully installed laminate flooring. Their remodel work was just as impressive, though - the kitchen and bathrooms turned out great. This review is a bit overdue but I wanted to say that I replaced the carpeting in my home last year, and Kristin was amazing - she made the process very easy by showing up with carpet options that would meet my needs so I didn't have to go into the store and be overwhelmed with all the options - although if you wanted, you could go into the store to see everything as well - and helping with my selections based on the surrounding floor/wall colors in the house.
