The workers also do not respect personal space. I was out walking my dog the other day. We were in the rocks so he could pee and not be in the way of the sidewalk. One of the landscapers, who did not have any equipment on him, was just walking, he decides to not use the sidewalk but instead walk within inches of my dog who is very reactive. Then when my dog barked at him he wanted to give me a dirty look. Why did he need to walk on the rocks and by someone walking their dog when there was a sidewalk right there?

This is my second review of Serious Landscaping (sorry--I couldn't figure out how to simply…read moreedit/add comments to my prior review). After having a great experience with Dalton and his crew last year for removal of 17 back yard trees and a wooden deck, I contacted him to get a quote for removal of a large (about 25-30 ft. tall) messy Australian Bottle Tree in our front yard. He provided a quick quote after a doing drive-by and got me what I considered to be a very fair price for tree removal and stump grinding. Dalton and his crew arrived on time--just as they'd done during the prior project. As I'd mentioned in my prior review, I was once again impressed with how polite Dalton's four-person crew is. Every one of them ended every sentence with "sir", as in "yes sir", "thank you sir", etc. These are the kind of manners I'd expect from the wait staff at a five-star Scottsdale restaurant so seeing them displayed by a landscape crew in Peoria was an added bonus to a grumpy old school guy like me! The guys made quick work of chopping down my tree, doing a great job of cleanup (they even blew and picked up leaves in a large section of my front yard some distance away from the tree they removed). Dalton's stump grinding guy arrived the next day to remove all remains of the stump and Dalton himself arrived a short time later to clean up debris from the ground up stump--by that time, I'd already paid him but he made good on his promise to come back over after the stump grinding was done to finish the cleanup. Once again, I'm very happy to recommend Dalton and his crew. Serious Landscape is two for two with me!

A guy from another company worked on my palm trees, but left me with all the plant trimmings. I was…read morevery disappointed. So I reached out on yelp for bids, and Roman was the first of three to respond. His team came and cleaned up all the palm tree trimmings, and they also finished trimming the trees that the other company didn't do. I could tell they were a good company because after picking up all the fronds they swept up all the dust left behind, and didn't leave it for the customer to do. Kudos to them.

I struggled with writing this 1 star review because I like to praise companies for what they do…read moreright as opposed to what they're doing wrong. After thinking about it more I really felt compelled to make sure to share my experience. I was referred to Humberto by someone who used him professionally for remodel projects. They said that he did a good job for them but he wasn't the least expensive and I don't mind paying for good quality work. Let me first start by saying that the job was almost 2 years ago so I have given ample time to see how good the workmanship was. So of course just like a first date everyone is on their best behavior the first couple of dates. There were a few minor hiccups when we started: 1. The pavers were laid the wrong direction... that was an easy fix, yeah it took a little more time but they needed to be laid the right way. I mean I printed a picture and laid out on the diagram how the pattern should be and went over it a couple of times so not sure how that happened. 2. I asked for the drip lines to have the attachments at the tip and for them to be the adjustable type so I could control how much each plant got depending on the type of plant I was going to plant. He buried the drip and then when I asked him to do it the original way I asked he charged me extra. 3. I asked for metal edging and I saw the metal edging and the thickness at the specific store where he got it from. So when I noticed after he installed that the edging wasn't as thick and looked cheap and flimsy I decided to measure it and go down to the store just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Sure enough it wasn't the correct gauge. I asked him about it to which he responded that they didn't have that gauge and there was only 1 thickness. Listen I know people make mistakes but just own up to them. I had him meet me at this supply store and they confirmed that they did indeed have the correct gauge. Luckily the manager at the store was so nice that he gave me the contractors price which was less than the original price that I was given by Humberto. I didn't the landscaper mark up special this time around. 4. For the kicker...After I had him reinstall the correct gauge metal edging I asked him on more than one occasion if it was supposed to stick out nearly 4 inches above the ground.. I thought it was supposed to be more flush to the ground and act like a boundary between the landscaping. He didn't respond to my multiple text messages and unfortunately for my dog he ended up stepping right on the metal edging that should've been placed at least 4" into the ground. Instead...one injured pup and $500+ later in vet bills. We asked him to come and back fill against the metal edging with more granite rock so that the step down wouldn't be so bad... and of course he responded to that... Cha ching So you ask why am I writing this review nearly 2 years later? Because I tore the metal edging out this past weekend only to discover that most of the pieces were no more than 1/4 of an inch in the ground and the only reason they didn't cause more problems was because the 12" metal stakes kept them somewhat in place. Now I am having to have the edging redone. I spent over $9000 and you think he could've taken the time to install it right... I should've disputed the credit card charge way back then. Awful Awful Awful Do yourself a favor and find someone else to do the work you'll save yourself a lot of money and a headache in the long run
