They have changed their name to "123 Landscaping". I should probably submit that to YELP. Apparently -they claim- there was some sabotage of their company in early 2023, and they couldn't unwind the mess. So they changed the name. The first few visits (as ABC) were fine, but then they went to crap about the time they say the sabotage occurred. OK...giving the benefit of the doubt, I contracted them to do clean-up and pre-emergent this month. The clean-up was not thorough. They missed two big piles of debris, possibly because they arrived late and didn't finish until after dark. The application of the pre-emergent was slip-shod. They put a dye in it, so you can see where it was applied, and where it wasn't. This was a half-assed job, frankly. And, similar to last summer when I fired "ABC", they aren't returning my texts or answering my calls, and their voicemail box is "full" per the automated message. In person, Christian is a nice guy, and seems earnest. But the way the business is run is unprofessional. read more

I should have listened to the other reviews. This company is completely unprofessional and they won't return your phone calls. I hired them to remove the grass from my front lawn and replace it with rocks. After paying $1,500 I was told the work was supposed to be started the following Sunday. No one arrived Sunday and I was not given a call or text message. I called and left a message but was not called back. I had to text message the company owner directly the next day and I was assured they would come out the NEXT Saturday. The following Saturday they did arrive and they removed the grass and put the rocks in. Unfortunately they left about 3 tons of dirt in front on my house on the street and sidewalk. They assured me they would pick it up Thursday. Thursday they picked up about 1/8 of the dirt pile. They assured me Friday someone would come to pick up the remaining dirt. Friday no one shows up. I messaged the owner and did not receive a message back. It has now been over a week and I am still stuck with a massive dirt pile in front of my house and the owner will not return my phone calls or text messages. read more

One word - integrity. I hired Darren to handle landscaping at a property I own in Tempe for a few years. He was always punctual, honest, and communicative. Additionally, he was proactive with his recommendations for maintenance and plant care. When I purchased another home outside of his service area, he advised he was happy to continue service my property, but understood if I wanted to find a vendor who could support both properties. we moved into a house with A LOT of landscaping. We found these landscapers and had them do a pre emergent treatment on the front and backyard. These are guaranteed no weeds for 6 months or else they will come and take care of it. we called them multiple time and they never came back out to get rid of the weeds. we asked them to fix our sprinkler system and timing. they turned it off and didn't turn it back on until I called multiple times. Angel and Joel are full of promises. However after paying $1750.00 for granite rock, tree trimming, and general mowing they never finished the job. Simply left us out to dry and took our money. ABC did a huge cleanup in our front and backyard and planted new trees and bushes for us. They ran the irrigation for it and troubleshot some leaks and fixed them. They worked from 7 am to 6 pm on my house all day with up to 10 workers at times. The price was reasonable and our yard looks so great. We are very happy with this company. I've hired ABC for many projects I've needed for my properties in Arizona and he has not only been fair in his fees but I feel I can trust him to take care of my needs. He always calls me to keep me informed even when I don't live in the area. Joel Bustamante gave me an estimate on maintaining my yard. I requested every two weeks. After accepting the proposal, Joel contacted me to let me know when the crew would show up. They showed up exactly when I was told they would. Joel also showed so I did not need to go out and give the crew direction, he did that. Two weeks later they showed again, as contracted. The job they did was exceptional. I have had problems with yard companies showing up and doing the work I have requested. I have not had this problem with Joel and his crew. I don't want to worry about my yard. I want to hire a company that will take care of it for me. I feel I have found that company. Darren is a first rate professional. He not only showed up on time but called later to see that everything was to our satisfaction. We purchased a short sale home and the lawn was so horrible we considered getting sod Darren assured us he could get our lawn looking great by May... it is now mid-April and he was right. We no longer have a weed and brown patch ridden lawn. Also, when we had an irrigation issue, he referred me to a wonderful company. I had to write a review for this company since I struggled with my research for a landscaper: in my area, very few had reviews (something we all rely on heavily) and the ones who did either had consistently fair ratings or reviews were polarized or less-than-descriptive ("I'd never use anyone else, ever!!!!" Vs "bad. 1 star.") I don't consider myself to be a picky person but it's nice assurance that a job will be done properly if I'm paying for a service. I needed a full tear down of my backyard. I am not proud to post my pictures-there are countless excuses I could make to explain how it got to the degree it did) but the transformation is too excellent not to (this is something so many companies were missing.) Here is what I've learned about Darren and the crew at ABC: - Initial visit: Darren has unbelievable communication. His first visit, he provided a rough estimate of arrival, then texted or called (I forget) when he was about 15 minutes out. When he arrived, he assessed the situation. I paid careful attention to his reaction (see "before" photo) and how he delivered his information. He took note of existing plants, layout, condition, etc. We then discused my plans for the lawn (it involved accelerants, lots and lots of fire and the inevitability of a homeowners insurance claim). HIS idea was way more realistic. He went into GREAT detail on what they would do (down to the chemical composition of the chemicals they use and how temperature and humidity impact their effectiveness - he is no joke. He knows his stuff and it's obvious). He outlined who his crew was, his expectations of their work and behavior, the process he would use to quality check the work, and his schedule and timeframe. I seriously had no questions left to ask when he left. The price he quoted and later invoiced was what I expected and considered to be quite fair for the work that needed to be done. The guys come out shortly thereafter and --no joke-- are in the yard for 5 FULL HOURS. I speak with Darren during this process (to refine how big or small I want some plants trimmed, typically providing a "you're the expert.... Do what you think is necessary." Again, not picky. However, in hindsight, I realize he did this because I only purchased a clean up and may be maintaining​ it myself after. Initially, I had zero intention of paying for regular service, as we have no HOA and all the capacity to do it ourselves. HOWEVER, exiting the house 5 hours later, he didn't even have to ask. He pressured absolutely ZERO for ongoing service (I forget if he even asked) but gave me information regardless of which direction I wanted to take it. He seemed more intent on making my life easier despite my (perhaps poor) plans to do it myself. Naturally, I scheduled continuing service in lieu of burning my entire lawn by way of blowtorch 6 months later. He was super flexible on scheduling intervals and any changes, and payment was explained well and very straightforward. He has taught me anything I wanted to know, without hesitation, about my watering schedule and plants, they are extremely easy to pay, etc. And I can't get over the bad review on the communication-this is truly where he shines. I get messages every time anything occurs: watering and maintenance schedules, seeding... Everything. Thank you too everyone at ABC. I hired Darren about 4 years ago when we moved from California to Arizona. He always kept his promises and did a very good job on our front an backyard. Sometimes he has to reschedule, but is there when he said he would be there. He and his team takes care of our yards. I contacted this company for an estimate, and the owner came and spent 20-30 minutes talking with me about what needed to be done. We discussed his use of toxic herbicides as a potential deal breaker with my husband, who was not home at the time. When the owner left, he told me to expect an email "within half an hour" confirming his estimate and letting me know when he could do the work. I waited. And waited. Then I gave up and got an estimate from another company that uses only green products and told me right away when they could do the work. Today--three days after the "half hour" promise--I finally got an email from the owner of ABC "confirming" that he would come do the work on Monday. When I emailed him back to say we were going with another company, he reacted in a very negative and unprofessional manner, saying I had hired him and now was backing out. Darren was the ultimate professional, coming to their home, providing an accurate assessment and estimate, and offering lawn service for an extremely reasonable price. We called them the day they supposedly came out for service to find out what exactly they did since it didn't look like they were here at all. ABC and Darren remind me of the expression 'you get what you pay for'. We went with them because they had the cheapest quote. The work was okay at best. Not professional, basically a little better than what my husband was doing. The work on the trees was awful! They barely cut them. The shrubs weren't hedged properly and the plant debris at the bases wasn't cleaned. we decided to let them try again and they didn't even meet the definition in their contract of maintaining an 8 ft canopy. There were branches hanging so low over the drive that they scratched cars as they pulled in. Heck one over our path was barely 2 feet off the ground. When I asked them to please trim the trees more that we weren't happy with how they looked Darren became very rude and said it would kill the tree (not true as we had them trimmed way down as they should have been and they are doing great) and then quit. We went with another company and I wish I had taken pictures of the before and after. Now our yard looks professionally maintained. Wish I had never wasted $300 on this cheap quality company. read more

ABC Landscaping completed a project for me on Monday Sept 18th. It was spectacular and about 5 hours of morning work in Sept and not an easy feat for they needed to pull shrubs out, kills the roots, tap the drip lines and cover back up again in addition to blowing, raking and collecting debris. Additionally when they got done pulling five large tall and wide shrubs and doing their surgical work noted above they then then blew the property filling up 5-6 large large 45 gallon trash cans. Now the this project started in early august when I was calling 4-5 other companies back in august to give me quotes. They pretty much all refused me for labor in the Valley for this type of work is very hard to come by and if you do have the crew and the time the price can get you lightheaded. Darren was honest and upfront with me and said he could not do it at that time but to check back later. I did check back in about 45-50 days and the labor market stabilized a bit so he decided to quote the work and take on the project. His pricing is very, very good and competitive given there are few companies left in town that desire yard (front and back) cleanups. I share that sidebar with you so you know how approachable Darren is, how professional he is, how honest he is and the professional work performed was spectacular given what I asked him to do. Additionally, I also asked for his opinion as to what I requested for him The brother cited me HOA covenants which I was unaware off and saved me some letters in the mail. For my money, my time and peace of mind you would be foolish to choose another landscape professional and that is why I give him 5 stars. Darren took the time to explain to me the labor market in the valley and what was happening to the small companies that do what they do from the contracts they take on to keep them financially afloat, the rye seeding in the fall, the other seasonal work they must commit too in advance to pay their bills plus pick up singular requests as mine was while working with me for I was flexible with my time. In the end it turned out great! Thank you Darren for taking the time to work with me and doing a spectacular job for me. I will be using and recommending you again brother! P.S. I can't say what exactly drew me to ABC Landscaping, and I only have had one previous landscaper for comparison. I read the reviews, all of them, good and not-so good. None of them were concerning. The prices seemed reasonable and I had a specific amount I was willing to spend in my head but wanted to see what the estimate would be. My yard was A MESS! Darren responded almost immediately to my request. He scheduled a time to assess my yard and was more than willing to work around my crazy work and sleep schedules. The price he quoted ended up being way below what I was anticipating. I thought even if the work wasn't great I wasn't losing too much. He scheduled an appointment for the following week, confirmed again prior to the date and showed up on time. He did exactly what he said he would do and did so in the amount of time he said he would have it done. I have not one complaint about Darren's professionalism, the assessment/estimate he provided and definitely not about the work done. Would recommend ABC to anyone, in fact I gave a family member the contact info on the same day he cleaned up my yard! I could have done a better job myself!!! All I needed was weeds pulled and sprayed and clean up.... they came and were done in 20 min. I went to check it out and nothing had been done except they sprayed the weeds. Not pulled just sprayed and they didn't do any clean up.. they told me they did use the blower in the back yard and front but I didn't hear any blower and it deff didn't look at all like they did any clean up!! I told them I needed this cleaned up so they said they would... well I came out again and still leaves and dead flower pedals everywhere. the boss even said he walked and looked at it twice....well guess what it still wasn't done. I was pissed to say the least. So he proceded to do it himself (he had 4 guys with him) AND I was so fed up I just gave him a check and said thanks a lot.. I would NEVER use them again and I will NEVER recommend anyone to them!! Terrible job!!! read more
