I always try my best to give businesses a three visits and you're out chance. This was definitely one of them. I have been going to different eCig places in the area because I like to check out selections, prices, and just generally get an overall idea of what's out there. I like to shop around, compare, and get an idea of what the business is all about when it comes to serving customers. To be fair, this place has a good selection, and I really like their prices on e-juice. The place is clean and has a pretty amazing ambience. But the customer service made me feel uncomfortable. It was never a "Hey, how can I help you" and more of a "What do you want" kind of atmosphere. There is a difference. The first is more friendly, and the second is more of a get in and get out. The first time it wasn't busy, but when I walked in I felt like I was intruding. The employees were walking around, eating, talking amongst themselves and others that were lounged around vaping, but as a customer I felt like I was being avoided. When you first walk in there is a lot to take in and process, and it wouldn't hurt for them to ask if I'm new and let me know they could help if I needed any help. I'm still fairly new to vaping and I do have some questions. I wasn't asked if I had been there before until they swiped my credit card. It seemed backwards to me. Second time I came in to replenish some e-juice and maybe pick up some accessories. Again I felt like I was being shunned. I just got the e-juice and immediately got out. The third time I actually came in to make some major purchases. I wanted to stock up on A LOT of e-juice, and I was in the market to not just upgrading from my eGo Twist and buy something entirely new, but to do some upgrades on the current eGo Twist as a backup. I also wanted to buy the accessories that I missed out on the last visit. I had about $300 set aside for this from my tax refund. It was pretty busy and I could tell that some people were legitimately busy helping other customers, but there were plenty of employees roaming around that seemed complacent about even being there. By the time I was finally noticed, it was "What do you need" kind of attitude. I don't NEED to buy from eCig City. I WANTED to buy from eCig City. There's a difference. No smile or a hello. E-Cig City was one of the many stores on my list to visit. I'm new to the while vaping scene and wanted to find an alternative to hookah smoking since I never had the time to set up my rig. Besides E-Cig City, I also visited Video 94 in West Covina and Vape Revolution in Cerritos. I had the best customer service here out of all the shops I visited. They have a Holiday Special where you can pick up a starter kit for $50, totally took advantage of that! It consisted of a Joyetech eGo-C Twist kit, which came with the 650mah battery, USB charger, clearomizer tank, carrying case, & a bottle of liquid all for $50. Sure beats the price they quoted me at Vape Rev, $60 for an eGo-T (eGo-C Twist comes with variable voltages, eGo-T does not) with no liquid included! I got to pick the liquid of my choice and the person who helped me, Jason, was nothing but helpful, patient, and understanding to my needs. I was able to sample most of the liquids they carried and it was an overall great experience! As far as prices go, I'd say they're fair. I've done a lot of comparing and researching and can only hope I got the best deal. Liquids come in standard 12ml bottles and go for about $10/bottle or you can pick up 3 bottles up for $25. I recommend everyone to try Rip Tide, Pair of Deuces, & Pirates Booty. Of course those are just my preferences. I've been to this Vape shop 3 times. Each time leaving disappointed. The first time I stopped by it was busy so understood why the customer service wasn't at its top game. The second and third it was empty and the employees were just standing around. They don't make you feel welcomed and give off the vibe that they could care less if you buy anything or not. Andrew was super helpful in explaining the differences and the pros and cons of each. I picked up the carto/tank starter kit for about 60 something, which came with everything you need to get vaping right away (650 egotwist battery, usb charger, collar, 2 cartomizers, tank, drip tip, your choice of a bottle of small juice, and a carrying case) I got it set up in the store and was vaping walking outside the door. The selection of e-juice here isn't quite as big as Vape Revolution in Cerritos, however they stock the quality ones here such as Vaping Monkey (Monkey Cream..So bomb), Villain Vapors, and Pink Spot. I believe that, or wait; I know that I've become a sort of 'vaping vagabond' these past few months. I have been to almost every e-cigarette retailer in the tri-city area of Lakewood, Cerritos/Artesia, and Long Beach. While practically new to the idea of vaping, I have long had friends that had vaped or were involved in the business. So getting information and learning about the process of vaping was pretty simple to me because I had people that were so much more knowledgeable than I was and their wisdom helped me transfer my dirty habit of passing carcinogens into one that cuts that back (or cuts it completely) and allows me to move forward without an unhealthy and deadly addiction. I will spare you the long and redundant PSA about how deadly smoking is because we have all the information we will ever need and saturation only works when the educated has a blank slate. For me it was a simple choice. I have long felt the need to vanquish the notion that it was a good idea puffing away and doing long term damage to my lungs. So recently, I decided to quit smoking analogs (that's a term coined by vapers for actual cigarettes) and pick up vaping. That was 3 months ago... Let me say this; E-Cig City is as friendly a vape store as it gets. It was one of 2 stores in my area that I have not visited. So, I figured that I would finally make a trek down there and see what they're all about. Now, if you haven't been in a vape store or want to but just don't know enough to actually visit one, you want to find a place that will help you learn all there is about this alternative to smoking. That means, like certain niche places of commerce (e.g. tattoo parlors and massage parlors) you want a store that offers a little more explanation and direction specifically for the less experienced. There are certain stores that take this element of comfort out of the experience and, well, that isn't the place for a beginner. E-Cig City has a typical vape structure to it. Located on one end is the 'mods' (firing devices used to power the e-cigarette). In the middle are tips (drip tip) and other accessories (tips are used to inhale the vapor) and on the end were starter kits (kits that would be a wise investment for those starting out). What really stood out was the impressive collection of e-juice (the 'juice' used to create vapors and flavors that have attracted people to this movement). The display itself is worth a Yelp! Review on its own merit of grandeur. They also stock it with a great variety of juices from Fuzion to Five Pawns. Chris, the salesman who assisted me, was easy to talk to and though I still have much to learn, I never felt that he spoke to me in a condescending manner. I have experienced that before and it really is terrible customer service. He guided me through the multitudes of juices and pointed out the most popular ones. I was after Unicorn Blood but they ran out. That's okay--there's a gazillion other juices I have yet to try and he was gracious in letting me know the lowdown about which sold well and how the Cloud Princess e-juice came into fruition. I'm pretty much over my vape supply funds limit this month so I didn't go full-tilt. I did, however, bought a really cool new drip tip and a new spot to include on my list as go-to vape spots. They say that there are two types of vapers. The ones who do it for the thrill and the taste of it and those who are in earnest trying to kick a habit that claims upwards of 6 million people a year (worldwide). You can include me in the latter. The hope is that this money, effort, and enthusiasm will pay off. I don't have an alternative--I want to live and see my future or at least give myself the best chance. I'm only giving this shop two stars because they have a wide selection of juices and mods/atomizers. Other than that, customer service was absolutely horrible for me and my friends. We came in, didn't even get greeted. There were two employees on the floor, one of which took almost 30 minutes building one atomizer which is absolutely ridiculous. The other was standing to the left of me helping another customer. He looked at me, said, "are you looking to buy juice?" I replied and told him which I wanted and he didn't even acknowledge that he would get it to me. I sat down in the chairs they had there since their table was a horrible mess with food everywhere. We sat down for another 20 minutes without being helped. A 3rd employee came out from the back, made eye contact with me, and went straight back to the back of the store. I came in with hopes of learning how to create a coil for a mod that I found and how best to prepare cotton for the wick in the atomizer. The one of the two employees that were there walked me through how the mod worked, which cotton to buy for the future, and what year of design style my mod was from. I did notice that during my tech service where the employee was recoiling the mod a customer arrived to by vape juice and that the store had to juggle between customers multitasking tech service, salesmanship, and cashiering. Been coming here for years and all of a sudden juice prices have shot up. Not sure what's up, but an employee said they've started implementing new tax. The increase in price was about 10 bucks over the usual 22 bucks i would pay for a 100ml bottle. I paid it anyway. I've been a dedicated customer for years and curiously went to another vape shop more local to me, and behold. The same juice was priced at the previous price of 22 bucks. I asked the owner of the shop about the "new taxes" being implemented, and he was unaware if such a thing. After several weeks of procrastinating I finally stopped by this place after work today. I've had several coworkers buy the eGo Twist from here and they all had great things to say. I walked in around 1:15 and was out the door with my setup about 20 minutes later. The guy that helped me was knowledgeable and patient with my questions. He offered to let me sample a few different flavors. After trying out about 4, I decided on two for the time being. I never felt rushed or hurried during the tasting process, which was nice. I knew basically what I wanted when I walked, but he made a few tweaks based on my preferences and his feedback from other customers.
