While I am not much of a health guru type, I do enjoy a good coffee drink! My normal go to is your standard iced coffee/cold brew, but I recently discovered their specialty drinks including the What's Shakin', which is their spin on the ole shaken espressos from the chain spots...and honestly, they do it way better! While I have not varied in my orders too much, I am impressed with the drinks I have enjoyed, along with the service and preparation that goes into it as well. This space is smaller than most of their other spots, so limited seating, but most folks are in and out given its location downtown. I went there for pour over because it gives me the best opportunity to try some of their fancier coffee beans. To me, most of what I've tried at Honest Coffee tastes more on the side of traditional coffee (except for the Bunum Wo, which is New Guinea Peaberry), but it is done very well. The barista was helpful, and the pour over was quite tasty. I'd definitely recommend getting the La Cabana as a pour over. The menu said La Cabana has a bright taste, and they weren't kidding. However, it isn't so over powering that a traditional style coffee lover would not like it. However, as good as it was, there are a few things I find about Honest Coffee that keeps it from getting five stars. They obviously aren't too big because I still gave it four stars. For one, I didn't see a natural processed coffee bean on the pour over menu. Those are the ones that I believe have the best flavor (though the one I had was a light roast, so that's good to have that option). Also, I was served the pour over in a to go cup, but I was not asked if I wanted that or a mug. I like to see the presentation with a pour over. However, it was still great coffee. Probably the biggest thing that keeps me from going to Honest Coffee more often is the fact that there are only a small number of beans that are advertised on line (which are nearly always the same ones), so I never am sure what they have. There are usually a number of different bags of beans for sale in the store that don't show online. I normally look for something I want to try online and then go to the store to buy it. If I can't see this, then I'm less likely to go there. With that being said, they do show their "Half Truth" blend online, which is a half caff coffee. If you are looking for this, it's a delicious tasting blend, and the cherry notes they advertise are definitely there. Unfortunately, I didn't see a bag of it at this store, but I'll bet you can get it at the Franklin store. You could, however, find a bag of the La Cabana I tried at the downtown store. If you want something with a good deal of brightness but not too far from traditional coffee, go for it!

We had to get it and we are so glad we did! The steel cut oats with cinnamon, figs and banana was the perfect way to warm up the morning. The steel cut oats have a texture to it that we like unlike regular oats that just get mushy after cooking them. I wish we lived next to one back home but Nashville is lucky to have this so local!!

The team was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came to their menu and allergens. They walked me through the lentil walnut and cali burger and how to make those soy-free (remove the coconut cheese/queso). They also walked me through other options and were happy to do so, which can be rare. The Cali Burger had amazing spice and the sweet potato bun was soft and delicious. Fries and buffalo wings were on point! My non-vegan colleagues originally wanted to go elsewhere but ended up devouring their options as they couldn't say "no" when they tasted the food.
