    Mulita - our favorite!
    Christina H.

Great for a late night stop after a night out! You'll often find them by the parking lots surrounding Aldi or Cookout on Freedom! We love the tamales, mulitas (comes in HUGE portions) and the Tlayuda!

The whole totra. Look how pretty.

Food trucks are the way to go when you want real food cooked with love by people who know what they're doing. My husband spotted ET EL Tamal a few weeks back, but they were gone by the time he went back. When they returned today to our Starmount neighborhood and he saw them while he was walking our dog, he couldn't wait to get me so we could order dinner from them. Let's start with the truck owners. The pair who run the truck are charming as heck and ready to answer questions about a crazy array of food for a truck that size: tamales (of course), tacos, tortas, quesadillas, burritos and more, with a variety of fillings, from chicken, steak, and both pork AND al pastor...plus lengua and cabeza if you're daring. (Not me.) We ordered a selection so we could try a bunch of things, along with horchata for me and Mexican Coke for him, and left with enough food for a few days for $55. But what about the food?! Okay. The torta. Look...as Americans we sometimes forget the beauty of a truly well made sandwich. Sliced pork that was fork tender (as if you'd use a fork) with fresh-grilled jalapeño, tomato and avocado on pressed bread. We split it and, along with the chichinachos - nachos made with chicharróns - we would have been happy little clams. And full. So full. So very, very full. But wait, there's more. We also ordered a Tlayuda, which is a regional dish from Oaxaca, and when I added it to the order the lady taking our order laughed and said, "Really?" Because it's big. Mucho grande. Black beans, carne asada, peppers, avocado, tomato, queso crema...it's like a Mexican pizza. We couldn't do it Justice. It too could have served as the meal for the two of us with a side. :) We have the tamales left to review, which I will leave to my husband, who is the Tamal fan. But find this truck. Try their food. Support them because YUM YUM. Qué delicioso.

We stopped here late last night after a concert and it was delicious. We ordered the quesa birria tacos and the beef cheek tacos. Tender, flavorful and everything we wanted for a late night snack before heading home.

Dare I say the best burrito in Charlotte?! My first time I…read morecame I only tried their tacos: 2 Pollo Adobado Tacos and Camaron Taco. They were both really good and a big full taco! My husband really enjoyed his burrito so I tried that my next time. I've been ordering their California Burrito ever since! It's not a saucy burrito so I have to ask for the Jalapeno Cilantro sauce. It reminds me of a sauce I used to get at my favorite taco truck in California (Leo's Taco Truck), Get it & Thank me later! I always get my order to go but there is seating outside.

They also serve burritos, which looked really good. I asked the staff what they recommended, and I ended up getting the al pastor taco and one of the beef tacos. I can't remember the name of the beef taco, but both were delicious. They definitely do not skimp on the onions and cilantro, so if you like fresh toppings, you'll be happy. My beef taco was just a little tough, but it was still full of flavor and very enjoyable. The ordering process is simple. You order at the front, they give you a number, and then they call you when your food is ready. There are a few tables outside and small tables inside near the kitchen. During lunch, the other side of the restaurant was closed, but I could see the hidden speakeasy style dining area. It looked really cute, and I definitely want to check it out on my next visit. The only thing to keep in mind is the parking. I went during lunchtime, and the parking lot was packed. I had to drive around a few times before I found a spot, but it was worth it. Overall, I really enjoyed El Malo. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was looking for. I can definitely see this becoming my go to spot whenever I'm craving a quick taco. I'll definitely be back. :::writing If you're posting this on Yelp, I'd probably give it a 4.5 or 5 star vibe based on what you described.

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. She completely overcharged me, and she only offered to give my six dollars tip back to me. I am now going to dispute the transaction with my bank because I was unable to resolve this issue. That's sad.

We got two Burrito Fresas (one grilled chicken and one chicken tinga). The burritos had the COOLEST crunchy cheese coating on the tortilla that the hugs all of the ingredients inside the burrito. Both the grilled chicken and the chicken tinga were phenomenal. We truly could not decide who the "winner" was because they were both so flavorful. Now, to talk about the other fun part!!! SORBET MARGARITAS! I'm obsessed. I had initially seen Que Fresca on social media, specifically for the soft serve margs. And let me tell you - they did nit disappoint. They have two flavors - strawberry and lemon (and then you can do a swirl). They were SO refreshing and delightful!! It was such a fun way to ~eat~ a margarita! All of the staff were friendly and very quick. The restaurant is well laid out and I love that it had TVs to watch all the games. The bathrooms are fun too - as the mirrors have color changing lights! I cannot wait to come back and try more!

The cheese was more burnt so the wrap had that unique flavor you get with well cooked cheese (make a grilled cheese. burn some of the excess cheese off dripping off the side , then eat it and you'll know what I mean). Before the server brought it out I could seem a couple of employees picking at one half of the burrito - which had me concerned. I assume it had some aluminum foil pieces from where the burrito was sliced in half. Sincerely hoping that was all it was. The employees seemed to be just standing around not talking to one another while there were tables that needed to be cleaned for new guests.
