    Chips and salsa

Authentic as they come... I really enjoyed my experience at El Nevado, the staff was incredibly kind, and professional. I went on a Tuesday at around 7pm, I was hoping for a "special" of some kind. Unfortunately they didn't have anything besides lunch specials. The dining room wasn't packed, but I opted to sit outside because the weather was so nice. The food was delicious, the chip and salsa came out quick which is always nice and gratis...even better. I tried the taco trio from the menu, you can pick 3 different kinds which is always a plus. I tried the asada, chicken, and al pastor. All came with distinct rich flavor, not too salty but perfectly seasoned. The location is very easy to access, with a decent parking lot that is free to park. South Blvd has a lot of quality Mexican restaurants, and this one is a welcomed addition. Pro tip: The margaritas are mixed well, and priced decently too.

Wanted to have some good tacos while visiting Charlotte and this place did not disappoint me. Tried their tacos with fresh made tortillas, and a Gordita (fried) those options were delicious. Wait staff was attentive and nice. Place was very relaxing and has that family style vibe.

Honestly, I was really disappointed with our pickup order tonight. We stopped in to grab chips, salsa, and cheese dip to go with homemade tacos, but this is what we were given. Unfortunately, we didn't notice until we got home that there was barely enough salsa for three chips and the cheese dip was filled 50%. Based on this experience, I wouldn't order takeout again.

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Charlotte, this is a solid option. The food was flavorful & authentic. My favorite dish out of all of the food we ordered was the burrito. We added additional protein for an extra charge but ultimately, I believe the prices are very reasonable. Chips & Queso are always my go to appetizer at a Mexican restaurant and although it wasn't the absolute best one I've ever had, it is still a must order. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating options however it is a little bit more snug so be mindful of that if you use anything where you need assistance to be mobil. The parking lot had an unnecessary amount of deep pot holes. Be super careful pulling into the lot and try to avoid them as best as you can. Unfortunately, they are in multiple areas of the lot. As far as service, I can't complain really. It wasn't anything that was outstanding, yet it wasn't bad at all. I can tell the restaurant is more popular since it was a full house. Because of that, our waitress checked on us enough to get us through the meal comfortably!

This has been my favorite spot for YEARS! authentic Mexican food and drinks. Came on a Saturzay for an early dinner around 3pm, and it was busy but able to get a table for 2. It is a small place, so be prepared to wait during their peak hours and seated closely next to others. Decided to eat tacos, which are $3.25 each. If you decide to get Tripa or lengua, which is specialty meat, you will be upcharged. They do NOT offer free chips and salsa like normal Mexican restaurants, which I thought was weird and disappointing. If you do want chips, they are $2. We ended up just ordering them to go along with our tacos. The tacos were AMAZING as I knew they would be. Great flavor, taste, and handmade corn tortillas. Whenever im.in the are and craving Mexican food, this is my go-to to spot. They do have parking spaces around the restaurant and never had a problem with parking when I've gone.

The tacos were above average, not mind blowing, but I was pretty happy with them. Service was above average. Atmosphere was average for a taco place. Got Al pastor, carne asada, pork skin, and birria tacos & vibes were worth going back.

The BEST birria in town. The prices are amazing, the food is insane and the service is top notch. Much love for this place

Cheese dip. 7.50 and I don't even get the cup filled??

Food is good. Service is rude especially the ones take or giving out the to-go orders. Also I paid 7.50 for 2 OZ of cheese dip is crazy.

A group of us came here for tacos and drinks. I had the chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos. Every taco was tasty. Their tacos are in soft shells. They also offer a spicy and mild sauce for the table. Drinks were really good and service was excellent. Our waitress was so friendly and funny. If you're looking into authentic Mexican food, come here!

Look out for the Gringo Tax! "Large party"fees are now applied to Gringo tabs. We had three adults and two kids, 5 and 4. We were sat at a booth and they slipped in a $20 charge on top of our bill. Great food but insulting tactic. It just comes out of the severs tip.

One of the best traditional taco places in Charlotte in one of the most diverse areas of the city. Taco El Nevado offers a pretty decent variety of affordable options in authentic Mexican food. The tacos are particularly delicious. My co-worker and I went to lunch and ordered a mix of tacos: chicken, shrimp, chicharron, chorizo, etc. We also ordered the passion fruit juice and horchata drink and had the flan for dessert. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is in its own stand alone building with plenty of free parking. It is easy to find. This is a fun place but not the fanciest, so keep that in mind. I recommend it for lunch as the food is pretty seasoned, and you probably don't want to go to bed with such a heavy and seasoned meal in your belly. Good stuff and I can't wait to come back!

If you're craving tacos, you definitely need to come here. This is probably one of the most authentic Mexican places. They serve you complimentary dips with chips in the beginning. Their tacos are delicious and I always love using their sauces. I feel like you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. Staff was efficient and very friendly. My friend had mentioned in passing that it was my birthday and our server surprised me with flan and turned on birthday music, which I truly appreciated it.

Does it have a bar area?

We did not see one, and I also did not see them any other drinks besode sodas, water, and tea.

Is it open? I'm calling and always give me a busy tone. Check website and looks like it doesn't exist anymore. Thank you!

It should be. Been there awhile and they are usually busy. Been there a few times in the last few weeks. I hope it is! Good luck! Food and service were great!

The order was slow to come out and was incorrect, I'll live. It was the lack of follow up that got me. Never seen the ordered cheese dip or requested salsa. Did not see server any where. Other servers busy with their own stations. Wrong order, no ordered items delivered to table, and no service. I left. Why beg? Now, let's talk about Woodlawn. I drove down 77 to this location, after all I am still hungry. Warmly greeted and promptly seated. My server was FANTASTIC. Night and day difference in food and service. Order delivered correctly and promptly. He approached my table several times to insure all was good. The difference between to two stores has made me quit forever the Northlake location. WOODLAWN is the place!

It really can't get much better than this in terms of service, quality, taste, etc. I'm not Mexican…read moreso I can't speak to the authenticity, but Azteca has a giant menu with a ton of options. Prices are extremely reasonable especially for the economy. Service is wonderful, chips and salsa were refilled promptly, drinks were tended to, and all with laughs and banter throughout. I got a steak quesadilla, my boyfriend got an enchilada plate. I wanted to try one of their specials but I was craving an easy meal all day! Everything came out fast, hot, and fresh. My spicy margarita had the perfect kick, and his giant mug of beer was ice cold. The restaurant is far bigger than it appears outside. I worried we would have to wait for a table, but they have a great set up. Music was great, plenty of TVs if your boyfriend (or you) wants to watch the game. Can't wait to come back!

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.
