Staff was very friendly. My bride ordered the chicken quesadilla with extra pico and side of guacamole. The chicken was tasty, but it didn't seem to be very much. She thinks they made the pico fresh for her since she said no onions in the quesadilla - and there were no onions in the pico :) The guac was outstanding! I ordered the Quesabirria with beef. Fantastic spot for authentic tacos. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. I had the asada, lengua, and tripe tacos, and all three had excellent flavor. Our food was covered in grease, parts of the steak were gristly and inedible, the barbacoa had good flavor but was dry, chips tasted stale and the yucca fries were not cooked through. I'm saddened to say today might have been my last visit here. From the moment we walked in we were met with annoyed facial expressions from the staff. Throughout our visit, the customer service felt unwelcoming. We had to reach out to our waitress for a follow up, although they were following up with other tables around us. My family member was requesting additional sides, however the waitress walked away mid-sentence. The food was okay, but if you're looking for a real authentic Mexican experience there's plenty of other restaurants in Charlotte. Absolutely incredible experience! This place might look like a small hole-in-the-wall, but the food and hospitality are next level. This is our go to taco Tuesday place for the past several months! We've tried multiple places but keep coming back here because of the taco deal on Tuesdays (under $2 each) and I can't get enough of their campechano huarache! Once I herd this place is now a street taco joint, I had to check it out. I used to frequent this building for many years when it was a deli place. Upon entering, immediately I felt at home in a place so familiar but very new at the same time. All is different except the basic shape. The new owners really cleaned the place up big time. Now it has a modern, open feel. Not only did it also look and feel clean, it was clean. Ah the street tacos. What I came for and I was not disappointed. I ordered 3 steak tacos with the regular onion and cilantro topping. I really liked the tortillas, they held up nice. The seasoning g was on point. Oh and they have glass bottled coke and that's what I had to have. I prefer my tacos just as is, but decided to try the two sauces they provide which are green and red. Just picked up lunch from there and loved it! I'm from Texas and have yet to find an authentic barbacoa taco...well, my search is finally over! Heavenly! A bit on the greasy side, but if you know anything about barbacoa, that's typically the way it comes. The first time I tried this place, I really loved it. Granted I waited 30 minutes for a call in order but it was good. The 2nd time I had this place, I called in my order and it took an hour for it to be ready. An hour! For a call in order on a Tuesday! I was very underwhelmed as my food had been on the counter so it was cold, the servers couldn't remember my order and had the wrong receipt on my order. I ordered 8 tacos, a side of rice and beans, and a coke- and they only gave me 2 sauce containers for all of that food. In addition, they forgot my rice and beans and what I received was disappointing and looked unappetizing (see photos) I asked for my coke that I paid for and the server tried to charge me a) after I had waited an entire hour, it should've been free but b) I already paid for it! I went with my parents, me & my dad got 2 tacos each and their weekend special... menudo. My mom got the potato & chorizo taquitos. Everything was amazing, the food came out in a timely fashion. I think I've finally found my go-to taco restaurant in Charlotte! Amazing tacos with a variety of meats, delicious tortas, and super crispy fries! Taco Tuesdays feature $1.50 tacos for chicken, asada, pastor, carnitas, campechano and suadero. Otherwise, tacos are around $2.75 each (still a really good price for the amount of meat you get!). Taqueria Number 1 has my go-to taco meat, Cabeza. It's such a tender and juicy cut of meat, topped with onions and cilantro. I also got to try the Pastor taco and that was amazing as well. The corn tortillas aren't soggy at all, in fact they're a little bit crispy. One tortilla holds up the generous portion of filling without breaking, while also keeping it's texture. We also ordered a Torta and it came with a side of fries, plantains, or yucca fries. We opted for the fries, but also got the yucca fries on the side. The normal fries are delicious - super crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with little fried crunchies stuck on the fry itself. The yucca fries were also great, although a little on the dry side. However, nothing that the salsas can't fix - two types of salsas came with our order, a red smoky spicy one, and a slightly less spicy green salsa. Both were delicious and drowning your food with both was definitely the way to go. I believe this is a small family owned restaurant, and the interior is really cozy and clean! The place is cool looking and the salsa is spicy. The service is barely there. I call, and you can barely hear the guy. It was very noisy and when I arrived for my food there only had 2 customers. I'm not sure why so loud. They do have TV'S. The meat was super salty. The plates looked good, but the saltiness killed us. The suadero looked so good but again too salty. I couldn't even eat.
