Street Tacos with chicken add guac
Carol R.

Great chicken taco. The iconic azul tortilla came stuffed with protein -- you'll need a fork for this one. Be sure to add guac!

2 years later - and the food is just as bomb as day one! Taco de lengua, de azada and a birria - delicious! And yes, their horchata is the best.

Tasty tacos, I'd come here again! I enjoyed the black tortilla since it's handmade. The meat was tender and the salsas were for me the best highlight. They have kick and flavor. Tried arbol, casera, y guacamole. They are okay fair for the price; they have a pseudo-brewery-industrial-floral mix for decor which gives it a blend of fonda and modern vibe. And for that aesthetic and price point, I'd put them in the same category of hispanic-food market as Que Fresa. The extra star goes to Que Fresa due to their more tender meat with higher flavor on the meat alone. Plus, I think Azul places a lot more onion that disrupts the balance of flavor of the taco.

My partner and I decided to visit Azul after hearing great things from friend. We appreciated that they do have a parking lot with ample parking and the restaurant is set up in a fast casual style where you seat yourself, go to the counter to order and they will call your number where you can pick up your food. The food is very good and they market themselves as serving authentic Mexican tacos. The tacos come fully loaded and it is difficult to eat without getting a little messy. We came on a Friday around 4:30pm and there wasn't line but the cashier mentioned that they tend to be really busy at peak dinner time (5-7pm).

My FAVORITE Birria Tacos in all of Charlotte. They are LOADED with beef and the crispiest by far. Also for the portion and size it is priced very fairly. Drive from Matthews to go here all the time - if they opened another location in east Charlotte me and my parents would cry tears of joy haha. Easy ordering and you swag yourself inside. Super chill and relaxed - if you are looking for the best fast casual Mexican food in CLT here it is!!!

Great spot! I had the chicken and steak street tacos, my friend had shrimp tacos, they were delicious. The guac, bean dip and margarita were also very good! The music was too loud, and when you sit at the tables, the chairs are too low. We moved to the bar so we didn't feel like the table was up at our face. Great customer service and good vibe!

Glad I finally went! Quick service - you order at the counter and grab your food when your number is called. I was happy to see a free salsa bar here, although I didn't need anything extra for my tacos. Cooked perfectly, the meat was quality and the tortilla was yummy. The best surprise to me (and the picture doesn't do it justice) is the horchata taste and portion. I've had many of these around Charlotte and this just took spot number one for me for overall horchata experience. Staff was friendly and there is a separate bar area to order alcoholic drinks too!

I had 2 tacos, Al pastor & beef cheeks, and the asada fries. They were delicious. And on Tuesday's tacos are $1 dollar off. The food was amazing and the proportions were friendly. They also have a full bar, with drink specials. I'll definitely be coming back

Food was great. Tacos got a head nod & moment a silence after the first bite, delicious. Potato was HUGE - could've been a little softer.. I would recommend that for sharing purposes as well. However, they did precut it to make it easier to share :) Customer service was great. Drinks were great. On Wednesdays Margaritas are $10 and there are a few flavors to choose from. I'll definitely be back! The space is a decent size. Tables are spaced nicely.

Taco Tuesday! Tacos are a dollar off on Tuesdays, which is a phenomenal deal because 2 to 3 of those babies will probably fill the average person up. I'm a big fan of Azul! My favorite thing is that they make their cocktails fresh, in-house and that really makes a difference. I think few places in the area do food and cocktails exceptionally well at the same time. This is definitely one of those places! I'm a big fan of the chips and queso as a meal of its own. It's actually become quite a problem for me and I need to go to chip-and-dip. All jokes aside, I recommend so many things on this menu: the burritos, the mulitas, the loaded nachos and more! There is parking on-site but, depending on when you go, it can be limited. Prepared to park in another lot or along the street and walk on busier days. I also feel that the food here is affordable. It really is a gem. I usually sit at the bar and the service is exceptional and the vibes in the place are overall fun.

Horchata
Ian N.

Great, friendly service! The tacos were all pretty small, but the ratio of meat to tortilla was good. Pastor Taco (4/5): Nice bend of flavors with a bit of sweetness and citrus from the pineapples. Carnitas Taco (4/5): Good flavor, but a bit dry. Asada Tacos (4/5): Decent steak tacos. Mexican Street Corn (3/5): Not my favorite. Too much citrus for me. It was also very messy to eat off the cob. *Loved the horchata. It was very thick and a bit grainy (which I enjoyed). RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Does this look appetizing to you?? ‍

Okay, don't tussle with me about my review lol. I did not have the same experience as most of the reviews I've read. Starting with the positive, I can certainly see why some enjoy coming here. It is local friendly, and the vibe gives an authentic hangout. Bartenders were very nice and helpful with making the best drink option based on personal preference. Now for what I did NOT enjoy. The food! I had a taco, and my daughter had the chicken burrito. It wasn't good. It was soggy and undercooked. The presentation was not appealing, and I immediately regretted my choice once I saw the food. Typically, I don't back track so it's highly unlikely of a second visit.

Classic Burrito
Kayla W.

My first time at Azul was for a work lunch so it was about 10 of us. The workers weren't prepared for our group but got us settled after a bit. We ordered chips with guac & salsa and they were pretty solid. I loved that they had a salsa bar where you can try different flavor profiles. I decided to try the Classic Burrito and it is MASSIVE. The flavor was a 10/10 and I will be back!

Fun, lively place…read more My friends and I were in town and wanted to have one last drink before we jetted out the next morning, so we ended up in trendy South End. First thing we noticed was how HUGE this place is. I feel like everywhere we turned, each section had its own vibe and its own designated bar. With the loud music, it was more loungey than anything and the crowd was on the much younger side. Canopy seems to be the go-to place in the South End. We did not encounter this kind of lines or crowds anywhere else in the area. Ordered a grapefruity drink (Our Flowerchild) off the menu and it was pretty good. Price was alright - definitely cheaper than what I'd pay in NYC (which is already atrocious in itself).

I bet it gets packed here, though, as the surrounding area is quite busy. We parked at a lot down the street, It's behind the train track so parking could be a little difficult. There seem to be a couple of garages near by, though. For drinks, we had the Three Wiseman and Fizz The Season. Very booze forward but tasty and enjoyable. The bartender was extremely skilled at his art and carefully curated our cocktails. We also had a little photoshoot while here, and it's the perfect spot to do so! I'd love to come back here and try other drinks. Highly recommend!

The menu this time is theme park theme... again, a fun concept but not well executed. Pretty overwhelming, especially with the bartenders explaining the menu to us twice with the same spiel there is too much to look at it makes it difficult to pay attention to the drinks. I really did not love my drink (starbreaker?) you could only taste the lychee The bartenders not a vibe, it was not that comfortable to sit at the bar. Now while she was vaguely aware of their "spirited kingdom" menu, I had NO CLUE. It was the best surprise! They have such a cool menu with a full theme park map containing 4 lands with 4 cocktails each. The cocktails all match the type of ride they are, it's honestly such a cool idea, and it was so well done. I loved the art. I will say, I was skeptical that all of their drinks would actually work and worried that they'd be too caught up in the theme to make results but . . . Oh my goodness I was so impressed by the drinks here. I think a lot of bars these days can get so caught up in trying to be unique that their drinks become nearly undrinkable. This place definitely doesn't suffer there. They brought us an aperitif when we came in, but unfortunately I have a blueberry allergy so we skipped that. We had 4 drinks between the 2 of us and they were all awesome. I ordered the star breaker and the green dragon (what can I say, I love gin and a good coaster), and they were both balanced and tasty. My friend got the diablo and the neon shift, and they were both fantastic as well! The neon shift was served with a black light too which was super cute. The one drink I have to call out specifically is the green dragon. There was something about this drink that was so unique, I have genuinely never had anything like it but I would order it a thousand times over. It's so good. It keeps me up at night. It haunts my every bar order. I will be writing home about it. What else can I say about this place - the service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the DJ was amazing. I thought "wow this guy really likes sax covers" only to look over and see him PLAYING HIS SAXOPHONE LIVE?? Iconic. This place was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it. The spirited kingdom menu will only be around for 6 months according to the waitress, so definitely catch it while it's there! If I'd heard about it sooner, I would've maybe descended upon them with 200+ theme park engineers in town for the conference (maybe it's a good thing I didn't know they were there until after it was over), but instead I will just say DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW

My friends only were in line for 5 mins but unfortunately I was the late one and waited in line for 30 mins. Luckily the line does move fairly quickly. If I'm being honest, aesthetically the drinks look good but not worth the price. My friends and I got the koala lalala and were bummed that after paying so much, it was mostly soda water and barely any alcohol for almost $19. Not worth it imo. I did however love the music selection. It was very nostalgic. Despite the technically difficulties they were having, my friends and I had a great time dancing the night away to our favorite middle and high school jams. My only suggestion would be next time for the dj to put his device on do not disturb. Every time a notification came through, the music would lower and was very noticeable. My friends and I laughed it off thinking we were just hearing things at first only for it to continue followed by the speakers completely going out. Overall it was nice to dance and be around holiday cheer but I don't think it would be worth a repeat experience.

Monday night, half price wine by the glass or bottle, all of them on the list! Love when they do that without limitations. So we went with a glass of champagne! Because why not when it's half price! Service was excellent , and the food just awesome . So fresh and delicious. The menu here is so nice and varied with so many options. We started with the prosciutto carpaccio, paper thin prosciutto with olive oil, and fresh Parmesan and fresh greens, white balsamic and hazelnut. This was amazing, just yummy. The roasted mushrooms, come on a sliced yogurt, with verde hummus, and sumac onions. Again so flavorful and so many different things going on in this dish. Highly recommend this. The short rib bolognese. A fabulous small plate, but plenty for two . This sauce was so good with the fresh grilled bread they serve. The pasta was perfectly cooked, spinach flavored. Truffle ricotta, and crispy prosciutto on top, nice pieces of short rib too. This was an excellent dish. We were truly full so had to pass on dessert but we did get a after dinner espresso martini, called the Salud! A Spanish table toast, peppermint infused tequila, espresso, licor 43, coffee liquor and creme de cacao. Served frozen, this tasted like an Andes mint. Perfect after dinner drink. It can be hard to find if you are coming in from the main street as it is located inside a building that has other restaurants and stores inside. My friends and I got the Crab Brik, Wagyu Burger, Shakshuka, and Avocado Toast. The Crab Brik came in little triangular wontons that were fried to perfection. I think real crab meat was used which is always nice. There was some aioli on the plate, but certainly not enough to dip with meal in. The Avocado Toast was recommended by our server and it was a top tier choice! It had chili dukka on it so everything from the eggs, sourdough bread, and avocados tasted very seasoned, despite the dish sounding a bit plain. They do not skimp out on the avocado here. My friend said the Wagyu Burger tasted good and I tried the Shakshuka (for the first time in my life) which tasted very tomato-y but still yummy with the bread! I think this is a cute place, especially for brunch. I would rate this place 4.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try their dinner menu which has more food options.
