That being said, this was my first time using the Snohomish County Solid Waste Transfer Center and it was a good experience. I know, going to the "dump" being a good experience sound odd, but good customer service, politeness and efficiency really does make the difference whether at a restaurant, retail store, coffee shop, or the "dump". In this case, every person I encountered that worked there was polite, courteous and helpful, meaning we were acknowledged, greeted, directed and thanked. They may have hated their job or were having a bad day, but I wouldn't have known. Good signage and direction made the experience quick and efficient with little to no delay so we were in and out Ricky-Tick. But in that short time the customer service did not go unnoticed. From the the gal in the booth/gate to the people on the dump site directing traffic. Honestly some restaurants and stores I've been to could take a lesson about customer service from them, no joke. As for the price 360 lbs. or less = $20, includes tax (minimum fee) Over 360 lbs. = $105 per ton, plus tax I think pretty reasonable, but the gal at the booth did inform us as we were checking out that prices would be going up to $30 for the minimum fee. Still not to bad I think.

Long overdue review for a community resource in Shoreline. I've stopped by the Shoreline Recycling…read more& Transfer Station for awhile to recycle styrofoam inserts and mailing boxes (not packing peanuts!). Recently, I've stopped in to recycle clean plastic bags and clean, broken down cardboard. It's located off of 165th & Meridian and rarely a line at the main gate. Make sure before entering that your load is properly secured or you will be charged an additional fee. It's County and/or State Law to secure your load. My visits have been secured via my trunk or back seat of my car, so this is not applicable. I've also heard from a college friend who was turned away because she was a Seattle resident, this is site is only for King County - Shoreline residents. The folks at the window are very helpful. For styrofoam, plastic bags, and cardboard there is no charge. Just follow the blue line on the road, drive slowly through the transfer station area, and on the other side are clearly marked areas for these specific items to be properly discarded for recycling. For other items, big bulky items, medical waste, stuff to toss into the transfer station, etc, the staff will advise you accordingly. Your vehicle will be weighed before and after to be charged an appropriate fee. It's also cool to see and listen to the Big Wheel art installation that emits distinctive sounds as you drive to/from the site. My local city had hosted a Styrofest before the pandemic. Since its cancellation, it has been a struggle to find a proper recycler for block Styrofoam that opens on the weekend. One magical place - the Shoreline transfer station serving King County residents! I read before going that they accept many types of residential recycling for free. We filled our car with blocks of Styrofoam that have been sitting in the garage for years, a collection of textiles that aren't usable, and a big bag of plastic bags and wrappers that meet the recycling requirements. Because they also take dump at a fee, we are stopped at the little kiosk. She sees our Styrofoam and immediately tells us to follow the blue line. The rest is super simple, keep driving until you see the container like bins with the open doors, stop, empty the car, and leave. FREE! A sign says let an employee know if the super-sized bags are full. Signs at each bin tell you exactly what is or is not acceptable; that information is also online. We are super happy with how easy and useful it was. If you are an ardent and adamant recycler like me, this place is magical!

I as a Private Consumer today (5-21-2021) took my metals in for CASH but GOT ripped OFF!…read more I had house copper Wire, Cans (beer, pop cans) & Ferrous metals (magnetic) to bring after 5 year of collecting stuff. They said on the cash out ticket it was 140 LBS. BUT they DID NOT separate them (itemize per price) as I had Binned them. I see the weight was NOT correct either! They did not display the scales weight for the customer to see as it was weighed either... One of the employee's was at the scrape heap cutting wire and electrical cords off appliances & lamps, as these were items that were already scraped by other customers. it seemed abit weird,,, I also brought in a bag of wire that weighed at least 10+ lbs. and was NOT on this payout ticket either, the other employee weighed it then walked off with it! I did not get a price per lb. or get it listed on my payout ticket either!!! We got a total of $5.13 A check coming to us, later listed as per ton for (ferrous metals only)! No price for this either!!! I left, went to eat out, checked the metals Commodities on prices for Copper House wire @ 1.10lb Irony metals, (ferrous) @ 270Ton Cans, .28 cents per lb. WE basicly recycled, and did not get paid a fair market price for our scrap metals instead. The Staff seemed a bit out of touch as well. Not answering our general questions.
