This was by far the most disappointing meal I've had from a burger place in a long time. If you were expecting fast, please don't come here. It took 30 minutes AFTER they took our order to get our food with no communication as to why it was taking so long. We'd ordered a regular cheeseburger, a deluxe cheeseburger (no pickle) and a Big Tom. When we got home (approx. 10m later) we found that the burgers were overcooked (next to burnt) and the fries tasted as if they'd been baked or microwaved. Came in here because I'm a fan of Severance on AppleTV and I noticed in one episode one of the innies was working on the "Tumwater" File and we noticed that the community Mark lives in looks a lot like ours with all the snow. Come to discover that the Show Runner is from Olympia, which is why the Tumwater reference, Gull Harbor, and the Eagan family that is in charge of Lumon is got their name from the Eagan's from this town. So of course we had to try out Eagan's Drive-In. It's a cool little diner with a surprisingly large amount of seating inside and out. No doubt this place is crazy popular in the summer. They have a little arcade area too that has 80s games, so that's awesome! We tried the burger and onion rings which of course was solid because you can't really mess those up. The best thing though are the 40 different flavors of milkshake. I tried the maple bacon and you can taste the real, crisped bacon in it. The lady who served it checked in on us to see if I liked it and heck yeah I did! She was so proud of that shake and she should be because it's sooooo good. Woo! Oh no. Ultimately, I decided not to eat because of the greeting I received. I was paying for lunch, which would have been a total of 4 people ordering. All family of mine and fans of Eagan's history. After my greeting, I decided to spend the least amount of money. However, The ordered was 1 deluxe cheese burger 2 regular cheese burgers 2 tator tops 3 med drinks 1 small drink. Regarding the price, the total was around 50.00 + which i think is enormous amount of money to pay at a burger joint. This was also a reason I didn't eat too expensive. The lunch special was around 15.00. Regarding the Service. It's was amazing NOT how I was greeted by the waitress/cashier/family member working there who was older. I excitedly and proudly mentioned that I grew up in my aunt Loretta Eagan's restaurant when I was a kid. The greeting response from the lady at the counter to me was very snarky, saying "She married into the family" speaking of my aunt Loretta. I thought her greeting response was inappropriate and alarming to me and hit me off guard and was quite offensive to me. My response back was something like... YES MAM THAT WAS IN 1948-49 when Russell and Millie, original Eagan owners, got divorced and Loretta married Russell. My additional thoughts were... And what/how does that have to do with owning an Eagan's and selling burgers to me (today)? Her greeting was too inappropriate and nonsensical too me. Won't be going back. It has been a few years since I have been here. Came by for a clam strip basket, fish and chips, and 2 milkshakes. Almost $45. My daughter took 8 of the clamstrips and left me with what is in the photo. That was 7 strips of small substance and a bunch of fried dough bits. Totally not worth it for 15 tiny clam strips. As a Tumwater native growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, Eagan's Big Tom was the place where we went for burgers and fries when our parents talked us into doing some major house project - cleaning the carpets, painting the living room, or reseeding the lawn. Even at the time, my parents knew it wasn't the healthiest of meals to enjoy, but it was a local establishment, the food was always fresh and undeniably tasty, and a take-out meal from there was always a way to get us to lug furniture or paint a ceiling without complaint. Earlier today, in Tumwater for a dental appointment, I decided to indulge myself with a visit to their Tumwater location - my first in well over a decade. I was pleased to find that the burgers are just as fresh and tasty as ever - Thursday's special was the "Little Tom" with tots and a drink for $13, "little" meaning a half-pound of beef with a half-pound of tots, served with their famous gotta have it "Goop" sauce. It was everything I hoped it would be and everything I remembered that it was, which means that I'm very glad I don't live very close to this restaurant as, if I did, I would quickly weigh as much as your average living room sofa. If you're looking for a classic American hamburger with all the fat and grease and char that makes such things so delicious, then you cannot do better than a visit to Big Tom's. I'm not one to complain, as I'm also in the serving industry so I completely understand how complaints can come off. But my visit today unfortunately was mind blowing. I've been coming to eagans since I went to Peter G Elementary over 20 years ago. So as a loyal customer it saddens that I was treated with such disrespect today. I came through around 4:30, ordered a cheese deluxe, no tomato and asked nicely if I could have the goop on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. I also got a chicken burger and large fries along with a few sides of goop. My total was $31 and I tipped $5. The girl that took my order was extremely sweet. I checked my food before I left the parking lot because I live in Lacey and planned on eating when I got home. I took the burger out and didn't see any cheese. So I rolled back through since there was only 1 car in line, if they were busy I wouldn't have gone back. The girl came out and said "oh can I see the ticket to make sure I didn't ring it in wrong?" So I gave it to her and she said oh no it says deluxe cheese. She went in then her and another lady walked out, assuming she's the one that made the burger. She came out demanding to see my burger so I handed it to her, she took the top bun off and said rudely "it's stuck to the top of the bun!!" I was going to take the burger back and just eat it even though she just took it apart, however when she closed it she completely smashed the top bun and put her thumb in it. She put it back in the bag, wrapped it up aggressively (continuing to smash the burger) So I then asked politely if I could please have a new one made, I even offered to pay for it. She got so upset that I asked for a new one she held her hand out asking for it back, while walking back inside she was vocalizing how annoyed she was and said again "the cheese was stuck to the bun!!!" The girl who took our order came out and asked if I wanted the cheese on it or on the side. I said on it please. I also explained to her that I only asked for another one because the other lady had destroyed the original one. I don't expect a refund and I apologize for the long message. But I know you guys have been a family owned business for many years, and if I were you I would definitely want to know if one of my upper employees was treating a customer the way I was today. I DoorDashed Eagans today because I was too lazy to leave the comfort of my home. I was thrilled to find that a old fashioned drive in participates in delivery! I loved it! I asked for a sourdough burger to replace the cheese, I asked for the fries to be extra crispy and for my choco banana milkshake to be super thick. All three requests were granted and that made my day! I scarfed it all down in front of the tv and just felt so good about being so lazy and glutinous. My hometown has a similar establish to this but they offer fried zucchini as well and I wish Eagans did too. But the crinkle fries were nice and crispy and the milkshake and burger were so good. I sopped by for a deluxe cheeseburger and a banana shake. Holy smokes, this did not disappoint. The shake was thick, creamy, and full of fresh sweet banana! The burger was hot, juicy and had a perfect blend of zip from the burger sauce and pickles. The thick cut crinkle fries were somehow both crispy, yet soft inside. Not a hint of mush. The lobby was so cool with its old school arcade games for sure. I am unhappy to say that the food just wasn't all that. My goodness this place could use a scrubbing. The bathroom floor was so greasy it was like a skating rink. Someone is going to fall! Ordered online pickup and if that's not confusing enough because they only offer deliver order choices at first, always ALWAYS check your order upon pick up. They always forget items and rarely credit back the money. Instead, add you to their "list" and then you have to remind them when you go back for the items. I have had two instances now where this occurred and I'm finding I might have to go try another location due to the lack of customer service options. Today, 1/2 of my food was inedible I got the halibut and onion rings, the fish was what you would expect, the onion rings though... only 1 out of 8 were edible.
