Stopped here in the late afternoon to try a few treats. I'm a huge blueberry Danish fan and there was one left so I got it along with a chocolate macaroon. The danish was serviceable but wasn't anything special. Could be because it was later in the day so it wasn't as fresh as ones bought in the morning. The chocolate macaroon was ok, it was soft and flavorful with a thick slab of chocolate on top but similar to the danish in that it was fine, but wasn't the kind of pastry that blew me away or made me feel like I just had to buy it again. I left feeling mostly indifferent. If I come back I'd probably come early in the morning and try something else, or maybe the danish again and see if there's any difference. read more

Can I just say this place is amazing? What a gem I found in Olympia on our way to Portland. I'm going to make this place a regular stop now. I got a little bit scared when reading all the negative reviews about staff not being friendly and having an attitude. I was bracing myself but we had a wonderful gal serve us and the lines were so long and they were extremely busy that she forgot what iced tea we ordered so she gave us both! A chai iced tea and regular. It was so sweet. Also she forgot our croissant but then later comped us the croissant too! The service was amazing so I don't know who the other reviewers are talking about. Also the food was amazing. We requested the peppercini on the side and they totally accommodated and hooked us up. Our bagel sandwiches looked delish and packed with goodies and the pickle complements well with the bagel sandwiches. I also ordered the lemon meringue tart which was delicious. The salmon lox was also really good but we didn't care for the capers because it made it really sour. I would get it without the capers next time. Overall this place is wonderful and I would definitely come again to try their homemade bread/sandwiches next time! The lines are long for a reason.... It's good stuff! But the lines go relatively quickly. Just make sure you know what you want when it's your turn. Parking is basically street parking. I gave it 4 stars because I think it's a bit pricey but I would pay again because it's worth it. read more

While visiting Olympia, we went to San Francisco Street Bakery. I had been here in the past, but it had been a few years. Food There are several options for baked goods including: pies, eclairs, croissants, and cookies. They also offer sandwiches and coffee. Today, we went with a variety that included a rum ball, peanut butter cookie, gingerbread cookie, and their chocolate Carmens. 4/5 Service The bakery was pretty busy, but staff were still friendly and attentive. All ordering and serving is done from the counter, so you are given time to make your choices. 4/5 Ambiance The bakery has a good mix of indoor/outdoor seating. The outside seating accents to green of the area and is very enjoyable. 4/5 San Francisco Street Bakery is worth a visit if you are in town. Absolutely fabulous. Love, love, love this place. Great location, friendly staff, and a great selection of carbs. :) Got an everything bagel, had nice flavor, chock full of seasoning on the top & bottom, good crust to the bagel, and EXCELLENT cream cheese to bagel ratio; on the level of a NY bagel. Cream cheese was so flavorful, tasted like they just grated the fresh garlic in the mixture. Superb! I was super excited when I saw Challah AND Rugelach! Both were also very good. I grabbed a seeded baguette which was delicious as well, and loved the fennel seed. And I also tried a sourdough rye loaf, and that was also very good, dense with a good crust, great for toasting. Have been to the San Francisco bakery a few times for coffee and pastries. It has a small seating area inside which is generally cold and drafty. A nice outside seating space, which is unusable during the cold months. Coffee and pastries are fine, but not exceptional. read more

Finally, after wanting to try them so badly, my husband and I finally were able to go early enough to ensure they would be open. The past couple times we've tried, we've come close to around closing time and typically they've been closed when we get there despite the hours posted on door and website. I had my husband drive here to get me gingerbread cookies and he ended up getting like a salmon cream cheese bagel which he said was so delicious. My gingerbread cookies were amazing!! I loved all three of them!! Even my husband ate half of one and he hates gingerbread cookies so I was pleasantly surprised to see that he actually enjoyed it. Highly recommend read more

Cute bakery in a local neighborhood, which I happened to find because I was staying nearby. A short distance outside of downtown Olympia, it's worth a little trek for some morning breakfast treats at least. I was there early and it was already busy but the display cases were full of freshly baked goodies, and the smells were amazing. I ordered a butter croissant and scone with jam, with a cup of drip coffee to go. The croissant was nice, could be a little flakier but I was hungry! The scone however was fantastic, a delicious European style scone (less sweet) with fresh raspberry jam. They use a local coffee roaster and the coffee was delicious. The staff were nice. The prices seemed a little high, but quality was decent given everything is freshly baked. The bagels, breads and other treats looked so good too. Will return if in the area. read more

My husband's only request when we chose to get married in Washington at the end of August was to have a marionberry dessert so that our out of state guests could have a unique regional food experience. A local friend took me to San Francisco Street Bakery as it was one of their favorite bakery's when they lived in the neighborhood and this place definitely hit the spot! Plenty of parking options & less crowded than the Olympia Farmer's Market where they also have a set up on Saturdays. I ordered their cappuccino with oat milk as well as their lox and capers bagel on pesto bagel. Normally I would choose everything bagel but seeing how unique the pesto bagel was I took a chance at ordering it with that and was really satisfied with my decision! I would recommend anyone to try it even though it sounds a bit odd. The only disappointing thing is they don't offer many lactose-free or non-dairy cream cheese options for lactose intolerant or vegan folks, but at least they do have hummus as a spread option thought! If you're also looking to save a few bucks & grab a bundle of older (1 day old break options) I love that they offer a bag of day old baked goodies (e.g. day old raspberry scones, bagels, bread etc) overall, I was pleasantly pleased with this spot & would recommend their bagels to anyone read more

If my kids went to the elementary school across from this bakery I'd probably office here. Coffees, pastries, bagels and bread. Carbs and coffee. Had a scratch-made chai and mini-pie. I love coming here for a pastry and coffee and then to sit outside and reset. Today I stopped by for a bagel and a latte to go. The worker was SUPER NICE and I appreciate the customer service, but honestly I won't come here for a coffee again. My latte is so bad tasting, I don't know if it is the espresso or what but I can't even drink it, it tastes burnt. I also liked my bagel but it had SO much cream cheese, I probably scooped off 3 tablespoons worth of cream cheese which I guess I better than not having enough. I usually go here to shop for bagels because they are quite good. But the last few times I've gone have left a sour taste in my mouth. The employees can be quite rude at times. And it's not like when I go they are super busy. Apparently they had ran out of a specific bagel and when I asked for it, the girl pointed to the bagel area and scoffed. "We're out!" She said annoyed. I use to love and sit and eat there, but the last few times I've left because the atmosphere's is tense and like I said, some of the ladies there are far from happy. I think the breaking point was when I was charged $3.50 for a small cup of milk for my toddler. I seriously could have bought a gallon of milk... It was such a rip off. As much as I love the bagels, I'm going to look for a friendlier place. Even when the food is good, if the environment sucks, it's not worth it to me. read more
