The Owl's Nest is a fantastic café with great food, excellent coffee, and one of the most spacious coffee shop interiors I've come across. We ordered the avocado toast, chickpea sandwich, and coffee, and everything was delicious. The food was fresh, satisfying, and paired perfectly with the excellent coffee, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or lunch. Service was quick and friendly, and our order arrived promptly. The atmosphere is the real standout. The café has a huge indoor space with multiple seating areas, each featuring its own unique décor and vibe, so there's something for everyone--whether you're catching up with friends, getting some work done, or simply enjoying a quiet coffee break. Stopped here for a breakfast. Ordered: 12 oz of Earl Grey, 16 oz of Latte, Lavender Scone, Sundried Tomato Scone, Maple Pecan Scone, Panini Sandwich. Total $61 including a tip. We somehow spaced it that the cafe served only plant based food and only realized it after we took couple of bites because the food had unpleasant aftertaste. The pros: 1. Appreciate the support for LGBTQ 2. Appreciate the idea of "plant based" food 3. Nice atmosphere The cons: 1. The 12 oz cup of tea and the 16 oz cup of latte were served in the 12 oz mugs. We paid for a 16 oz latte. 2. Early Grey was of poor quality. Not much flavor. 3. The scones tasted ok, but not like true traditional scones. I presume it is because they are plant based. 4. Shortly after eating a sundried tomato scone I started feeling nauseated and developed a headache which lasted for several hours after. I do not have food allergies, I do though react poorly to heavily processed food. Knowing my body very well this makes me wonder about the quality of ingredients used. Plant based food is a very noble idea and is better for health and environment when in its natural form (olive oil, veggies, whole grains, etc.), but unfortunately some products are often very heavily processed (plant based butter, cheese, etc.). I have no idea what those scones were made of. I will not eat other scones after this experience. 5. I took a bite of hubby's panini. It had an unpleasant aftertaste. 6. We paid for 3 scones. The cashier gave us only two. I thought that the third one would be brought out shortly with the rest of the order so I let the cashier to attend to the line behind us. When the 3rd scone wasn't brought out I approached the counter to ask about it. Another person that was standing there asked me if I paid for it.......Seeing so much suspicion on their face I told the person that I would like to wait for the cashier to see if she would remember me placing an order. To which that person responded - I believe you......This was not a pleasant experience and this is not sound customer service if you ask me. Instead of taking responsibility and checking their system, they made me feel like I was trying to get free food. A professional business should always prioritize making the customer feel heard and valued, rather than putting them on the defensive. The OK: Coffee was just ok. Our barista was kind of rude and, though we told her we would be a second, she stared us down until we decided what to have. For the drinks, white pumpkin latte, chai latte and an Irish cream coffee. The chai was spicy and the white pumpkin had no flavor. The Irish cream latte, however, was REALLY GOOD. The food, orange cardamom, maple pecan and early grey scones. The earl gray scone had a slightly off-putting texture and we realized it was GF (that was def user error) maple pecan since was good, so was the orange cardamom one. The food was fantastic! It was probably the best avocado toast I have ever had. The toast was perfectly crunchy, the avocado was fresh and smooth, and the pickled onions added such a perfect touch with the acidity. We got the soup of the day, which was chili. I wish there were a little more sour cream, but it was still savory and delicious regardless. The lady who took our order was very helpful and super sweet. This is my go to coffee shop when staying at the DoubleTree. It's a short walk and obviously way better than any hotel breakfast! I love that when you order in you get your coffee in a beautiful mug! This visit I had their zucchini bread and a mocha while sitting at the window bar people watching! It was the perfect start to my day! Visited some friends in Olympia. My friends who live in Washington say this is their favorite coffee shop in the area so I couldn't wait to check it out! The coffee shop is small but cute. The theming is adorable with the addition of owls. We ordered and received our drinks quickly which was nice because it was a little busy. My friends ordered dirty chai, coffee and I ordered a matcha. The matcha was a nice shade of green with a delicate flavor. I tried my friends chai and it was delicious, I guess they make the syrup in house and I guess you can also buy their chai syrup to take home. Grabbed coffee for my wife's birthday this morning. I got in there just after opening. Couple of young people were incredibly friendly and fun. What a great coffee shop!! My husband is a coffee snob and it's the best espresso he's found so far in the PNW since moving here 14 years ago. I'm also a bit hard on most Chai Tea Lattes I get and the brand that Owls Nest uses has such a rich taste with a beautiful spice blend... perfect with soy milk! The food menu is all vegan (yay!) with such varieties as scones, cookies, and in winter they have biscuits and gravy! They also have daily food specials. They're expanding their space and will soon offer more sandwiches, soups etc Everyone working is always so sweet and friendly. This was an incredible, unexpected vegan spot on our trip to Olympia! The boys enjoyed a delicious grilled cheese, made with Chao, and we split a MINDBLOWINGLY GREAT Smoky Nest Panini. This is THE best coffee shop in Olympia. It's Vegan - but you would never know. The pastries are Top Notch (and I have eaten pastries in the best Konditorei in Europe, including at Demel in Vienna). The chai is also spectacular - and Pumpkin Chai just rolled out for Fall. read more

This is not the place I'd go to for something delicious, but it is a fun place to be to soak in that quiet hipster vibe with your laptop so you can feel productive while getting that PNW ambiance. We visited around Halloween and they had the slightest of holiday decor but it was the perfect amount. Super cute place, friendly staff and delicious food. All vegan with GF options as well. I had the avocado toast, which was yummy - the non-GF bread had seeds on it and the avocado definitely was seasoned - did not taste bland. Pickled shallots were the cherry on top! Everything on the menu can be made GF (egg sandwich, avocado toast, etc.) and they have quite a few GF bakery items in the case. The Sunday morning I was there, some of the GF bakery items they had were banana chocolate chip muffins, matcha muffins, rosemary lemon scones, earl grey scones, several cookies which I can't remember, but one was peanut butter. I didn't taste any of the GF options, but they looked delicious. I also didn't have coffee, but that looked great also. Highly recommend! Open on the weekends and it was busy when I was there around 9:30am on a Sunday. Addendum: I came here for lunch too - twice in one day! This time, I had a latte (perfect), orange brownie (moist, chocolately and perfect amount of orange flavor), oatmeal cookie (crunchy and chewy - great flavor, no raisins) as well as the Reuben sandwich on sourdough bread. This is a small quirky coffee shop with some finely done vegan sandwiches. I decided to go with the tempeh bacon "breakfast witch". This was different from tempeh rueben sandwich. It included tempeh bacon, a vegan egg layer, tomato jam, and I added hot sauce from the counter. The bite was actually quite satisfying with the sourdough toast flecked with caraway spice nuggets. I washed it down with some dark coffee of the day. I would say the counter ordering experience can be slow because there is one overworked barrista and sometimes they are deluged with a line of people. Luckily I didn't have to wait long. I sat outside on the sidewalk tables. The kitchen staff will bring your food out to your table. I liked the location near some cute shops like a book store and a boutique. If I return to Olympia I might try this cafe again. It beats the sterile cafe chains. read more
