First time at this bookshop was for a book tour event to see Landon Bryant. The event was great and the shop was lovely! An independent book shop with a sidewalk selection of books, kind staff and a dedicated nook in the back for signings. The parking situation is a little hairy, but I lucked out when someone was leaving as I pulled it up. I will definitely consider coming back for future events and if I lived in Decatur, I would frequent this store more often. read more

Amazing local bookstore. Multiple employees working to answer questions you have. Prices were competitive with other book sellers. Quiet with huge selection of fiction and nonfiction books. My only issue is they did not have magazines. My personal rule is if I don't buy a book I can at least buy a magazine to support the business. Great bookshop with large variety of books! My husband and I love bookstores, especially ones with used books, and we spent about an hour here perusing the titles. I was looking for some novels for some advanced readers (4th graders reading at grade 7), and wanted something challenging but still age appropriate. I left happy (and so were the young readers)! I've also turned in books here for store credit, which I'm a huge fan of! The whole process was painless! Parking can be tough for disabled folks like me (it's hard to get a spot close to the store), but it's in the same strip mall as some good restaurants, so I like to treat myself after a visit to Eagle Eye. read more

Went here for the first time today on a whim, as I was going to another store in the same plaza! I ended up really loving this bookstore. They had such a great selection of books, and they were all so reasonably priced! I really couldn't help myself so I ended up walking out with a really interesting looking book which was only six dollars. I also love how they have a great selection of books outdoor that is available to people 24/7. I think it just shows a great community feel when a bookstore has an honor system for paying for books after hours. They also have a loyalty program, I would recommend signing up because you can get a coupon for five dollars off your next purchase. This is also a great place to go to for gifts. Fantastic book shop! Came here on a cold Sunday afternoon, but was warmed up by the nice welcoming of the staff, and the wide selection of books. After Yelping for book stores around me for hours, I came across this book store and was pleasantly surprised. Located in a shopping plaza, from the outside looking in, this bookstore appears small, but once you go inside there are numerous bookshelves filled from top to bottom. I didn't really have a particular book in mind, so with the help of the nicely labeled aisles, I was able to easily browse and find some pretty unique finds. I left with 3 books and a book mark for $17, so I'd say, I got a great bargain. I'll definitely be coming back to this bookstore! read more

I mean, this is a local bookstore. I've got to show love, as these things are going to one day end up on the extinct list. I visited this past weekend, to check out The Minimalists' book signing. I'll be honest; a little more than a year ago, I had mentoring sessions with Ryan, which I was COMPLETELY in a rut in my life, so I was interested in meeting him in person. I even sent an email to give him a heads-up. Parking was a biyotch, since SO MANY people came. I even ran into fellow Yelpers Joy W. and Sean L., which was super awesome. You can check out the photos that I'll upload once I complete this review. The shop as that awesome vibe that you would expect of a bookstore in Decatur. It was homey and I also freaked when I walked in and saw a display with Neil Gaiman's work. Maybe some of you don't know this, but I am a huge fan of his and have the 5-volume Absolute Sandman collection. The leatherbound beauties weigh a ton and I almost regret owning them every single time I move, which has been on average every 2 years of my entire lifetime. (Maybe this is why I get fidgety when staying in any one situation for too long?!) Anyway, I saw paperback versions of Sandman, as well as some of his novels there. I mostly paid attention to this before turning my attention to Ryan Nicodemus and Joshua Fields Millburn. After they chatted, read some excerpts from their book, "Everything That Remains," and answered some questions from obvious fans of their message to not be some caught up in American consumerism, my friend and I waited for at least an hour to see them. We went back into the Reading Room, which looked like going into a secret room of an old house. It had that kind of musty feel to it, but I really liked it. I felt like I was in someone's personal library. Store clerks asked if visitors wanted to buy the book for the signing, to which I declined (Ryan made his fair share from me, haha). I liked that they were not shoving the proposition down anyone's throat and just invited me to hurry back to see them again. I admit that in today's digital age and even with The Minimalists' recommendation to not accumulate unnecessary physical possessions, it is hard to scream from a hilltop that everyone should buy tons of books so that if/when they move, the bottom of their boxes can burst open at the duct-tape seams, resulting in 500 lbs. of book falling onto unsuspecting feet. That would so suck. But if you are looking to pick up a book that you can't live without, one that you plan on lending to friends and family (hey, don't shove it down their throats either, okay, you mad bookworm?), come visit Eagle Eye Book Shop. You can even check out their used books (which totally means that you can unload your own books that are collecting mountains of dust in the corner of your bedroom--just do us asthmatics a favor and get rid of some of those pesky dust bunnies). read more

This Indy book store if one of the best in Atlanta - I only have two complaints - the parking sucks and I wish the store was larger. Eagle Eye combines the best aspects of a mom-and-pop shop with personable service and knowledgeable staff. It's also one of the few bookstores that has regular signings (most recently I came to see Robert Sherer for his Blood Works book). It seems that the author book-tours of old have fallen to the wayside - it's really unfortunate. Are people reading less or has the digital medium taken it's toll? Personally I think that there will always be paper in some books - I think that it's just changing. At Eagle Eye you'll find new books alongside used books - there are also quite a few author-signed volumes. It feels so good to see titles shelved this way - I know the first time I visited I had to look in every book case - this place has a similar feel to the classic Oxford Books II (man miss that place!). If you can't find something talk to one of the people there - they're all book lovers too! read more

I've always enjoyed this book store, but they're really going above and beyond during this time of social distancing. You can easily order books online, they'll call you when they're ready to be picked up, and they're doing contact-less pick-up outside of the store! They even left a nice extra gift in our bag. A few weeks ago, I was taking care of an elderly patient in the hospital who was feeling quite lonely and afraid. He mentioned that he was reading The Gulag Archipelago at home but didn't have a copy. After several unsuccessful calls to other bookstores, I called up Eagle Eye and luckily they had it in stock. I was eager to get the book that day itself but wouldn't make it there before closing. Rachel was wonderful and offered to drop it off on my porch out of the kindness of her heart. The smile on my patient's face the next morning was priceless. Such human kindness during this time has won this bookstore a customer for life! This is a bookstore for true book lovers. If you want to read the latest John Grisham, go pick it up at Borders or even Target. If you want to stop by to find a real, well-written, solid novel and talk to people who know something about books, this is your kind of store. When we came by, my fiance was looking for a specific book about minerals and gemstones. Not only did he find it, but they had a really great price on it. He was instantly in love with this place. I was in love with Eagle Eye because they had prepared a display about Banned Books Week that they were taking over to the Decatur Book Festival, where they had a booth. The fact that they were even involved with the festival says something. (You'll notice Borders was nowhere to be seen!) As a librarian, I appreciate any and all efforts to encourage reading and discourage censorship. One other thing to note about Eagle Eye - in addition to the front part of the store, they have an incredible back room of the store that is full of rare books. Some are signed. Some are first editions. This room was quite a find. All in all, this bookstore is really an asset to the area. read more

I LOVE this lil place! Today there's the gadgets where you can read books on iphones, ipads, etc. Before then came along the big company bookstores. But I like the feeling of a real book in my hands and the feeling of a real bookstore. This place is a REAL bookstore. A private-owned, like one reviewer said, mom & pop shop. It has character and the staff are friendly and helpful. Books are very affordable. They have those nice little tables with books outside on the sidewalk for deals and stuff too. They also have lots authors who come by from time to time to do signings, talks, workshops, and stuffs. I love books!!! Like a good dealer, Eagle Eye graciously and cheaply facilitates my addiction to words. They have a great selection of both fiction and non-fiction. The staff is happy to help you find what you're looking for, though I always end up browsing and finding way more than what I came in to buy. For example, I found a really cool illustrated history of Indian cooking for my friend's birthday, a 1970s vegetables-as-the-main-course cookbook for my other friend, and I always find philosophy classics for myself for cheap. They have a good frequent buyer program that you should sign up for the first time you go and the prices are usually very good even without the discount. If they had more feminist books I would give it a full five stars. read more

This a a great used bookstore, but it sells plenty of new books and other book or literary-themed products as well, such as calendars, tshirts, mugs, etc. It is very organized and has helpful labels on the shelves, making it easy to find favorite genres of books. The prices are pretty good, but I have only gotten children's books, bookmarks, and novels. They have a great variety of books and pretty friendly staff. They have regular author's visits, signings, and readings. There are a few chairs throughout the store for you to sit down as you are browsing the books. read more

I chose Eagle Eye this week to special order a book my daughter had anticipated for a year and a half, the concluding volume in a trilogy, 13 Secrets by Michelle Harrison. It's been out in England most of that time, but appeared in the USA with publication date of yesterday from Little, Brown. I called first, found I would have to put five dollars down, which upon consideration, made sense. I did so the next day, at close of business, 6 pm Sunday. Upon my query Tuesday afternoon, the book arrived as promised, making a Summer reader very, very happy. Eagle Eye is a great, well-stocked, friendly, neighborhood, used and new bookshop with great service and knowledgeable staff. Check out their active calendar of author appearances and activities. I have been there several times during the pandemic & have witnessed complete responsibility. When it comes to used bookstores, I feel the selection is really just luck of the draw. So many variables. That said, I was very impressed with the selection here. They didn't have evry single thing I was looking for, but they had alot. They also had a good amount of variation, interesting sections. They also have new some newbooks. If hey do not have the new book you are wanting, they will order it. The prices are great, especially on audiobooks, which tend to be pricey, IMHO. I love small bussiness. I think it's important to support them, but sometimes difficult for lack of selection and price. Luckily, that's not the case here. If you love reading, check this place out. read more

Why is this bookshop still open during a pandemic? You aren't helping things at all when everything else is closing down. It seems very irresponsible and you aren't protecting your staff or customers. You should close or at least start doing curbside pickups etc and not let anyone inside to shop. I stopped by this place while I was visiting Hotlanta for business. Straightforward bookstore that has a lot to offer without deflating your wallet. Stuff that I would find online for like 14 or 15 bucks you could get here for 8. Although the store itself isn't that big there's a ton of book sections to look through. You could definitely come here and find something for everyone you know. Unless you don't know anyone who reads. The staff here are real nice and you can tell they hire peeps who not only read but have a passion for a certain genre or type of book. They will definitely help you get wrapped up in that next book you're looking for. Although I had vowed never to return to Eagle Eye after my bad experience the previous summer, my sister, a devoted fan of Japanese manga, always wanted to go here for their large and varied collection of out-of-print, unusual, and small press manga. Although I didn't find much, she was happy with the manga selection. However, when we returned last month, she was shocked to discover that they had stopped taking manga in trade; thus, the manga section was slowly dying of attrition. In addition to being shocked at the loss, she was miffed by their way of stating these changes as if they were universally known and something was wrong with the inquirer for not knowing about them (as I had been when I had asked about the current mixing of used and new books on shelves--be careful, for if there's no sticker, it's full price!) In addition, we had noticed that previously, whether we took ten books or three bags of books, the amount we were given in trade was always $15.00, which seemed odd. This time, the amount had decreased to $14 for four bags of new releases (all of which they accepted for trade). I suspect that in another few months, they will only be giving $13 and so on. Our conclusion? Just give them a few books and take the hardcovers to Books Again and the paperbacks to Book Nook; you'll make the same amount from Eagle Eye either way. Again I've noticed that, as Eagle Eye phases out manga, the previously small selection at Book Nook has grown larger and wider in scope. My sister now finds her interesting out-of-print manga there. Has it occurred to anyone at Eagle Eye that they are effectively sending their customers to another store? Either way, I just wanted to warn all manga-lovers that, sadly, they can no longer get their fix at Eagle Eye.. read more
