She wasn't pushy at all and didn't upsell me anything - just gave me all the tips and info. We decided on a tandem snowmobile for an hour with a guide. We arrived 20 minutes late but she was so professional - she shortened and made the check in process so easy. There was a cabin with fire where you can change since Deer Mountain was quite cold and was snowing that day desolate the snow drought. She was mega attentive and taught us everything and told us exactly where we were going. She took couple of pictures for us and explained what we'll see had it not been so foggy. On the way back when we stopped at a viewpoint my boyfriend accidentally accelerated and we toppled right where the cliff started - Michele rushed over and helped us up and we genuinely concerned for our well being. We're so grateful she was our guide and can't recommend her enough. She's an amazing person with a beautiful smile and we definitely suggest everyone go snowmobile with her, especially first timers!

We said, No thank you, we will just rent it. Took the stupid thing out for a total of 6 hours and the light started blinking, the next thing you know it's only running 5 miles per hour. We managed to ride it back to the rental company before they closed and swap it out! They had no problems swapping it out...obviously they knew it had issues! They told us...oh it might be the pump, I'll have my husband look at it, maybe you picked up rocks??? Or maybe NOT! This isn't our first time...we're out on the lake every Labor Day! A week and a half later my credit card it charged over $800 for the repair! I've got no description of work preformed or service done. When my sister called to see what the deal was, she was like oh ya, I picked up the parts today and my husbands going to fix it...save you guys some money ! Really!!!! Then I called and she was unwilling to speak to me and HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I guess I'll see you in small claims court! Not only that...bad yelp reviews are going to cost you a lot more! Stay away from this place!!!!!

We booked a houseboat at Antlers Resort over Memorial Day weekend and overall had a good…read moreexperience, though there were both highlights and some notable drawbacks. What Went Well: * Booking and Check-In: The resort staff were organized, clear, and responsive. From initial inquiries to payment reminders, everything was handled efficiently. Check-in took just a few minutes, and they helped us transport luggage and spent 30-60 minutes giving us a personal walkthrough of the boat, which we appreciated. * Boat Quality: We were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a nicer boat. The vessel was well-equipped, featuring a hot tub, water slide, full kitchen (oven, microwave, running water)--everything was in great condition and very enjoyable. * Support and Communication: Throughout the trip, the staff were easily reachable by phone and did wellness check-ins, which made us feel supported. When we had issues, they were quick to advise and assist. * Departure and Return: Staff helped guide us out of the harbor with hand signals and came out to help dock the boat at the end of the trip, which we really appreciated. What Could Be Improved: * Instruction at Check-In: The person assigned to instruct us was clearly more mechanically inclined and admitted it was their first time training guests. The walkthrough was overly technical, hard to absorb, and not well suited for first-timers--especially with 11 people depending on us. We wish we had received the manual in advance, or even better, a simple infographic showing common procedures (e.g., starting the boat, docking, using the generator). * Safety & Docking Design Flaws: A major issue occurred when another group walking across the rocks used our mooring ropes as support, dislodging the stake and causing our boat to drift. The bridge (gangway) detached and fell underwater, and due to its weight (~50-100 lbs), we struggled to lift it back. This wasn't addressed in the manual, and the design--where the bridge is easily detached and only secured by ropes underneath the boat--feels flawed. While staff were helpful over the phone and eventually explained how to fix it free of charge, we were initially told it would cost $150, which was frustrating. This kind of issue could be much harder for smaller groups or families to handle safely. Final Thoughts: Despite a few technical and structural frustrations, Antlers Resort staff showed professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to help throughout the weekend. The boat itself was excellent, and the free upgrade and strong support helped offset the downsides. However, we recommend that they improve onboarding materials and bridge design for a smoother and safer guest experience. We'd still consider returning, but would come better prepared--and would strongly suggest that future guests request the manual early and ask about bridge/docking procedures in advance.

The camp ground is a bit run down and some of the spots are quite small and crammed in together whereas some are quite large. Please be aware they also charge you for electricity over and above your camping cost. There are some trees with fairly low branches that hang over the fire out, which in my opinion is a fire hazard. Also, a ton of poison oak around our camp site meant we had to be extra careful how we set up so the dogs couldn't get into it and give it to us. The good: easy access to the lake, nice marina. Great fishing. The dogs loved it.

For the money you would spend on renting a boat, you expect the boats to be clean and in tip-top shape. The last time we did a boat trip, the boat was really dirty. The rugs and the upholstery on the seating was totally disgusting. It was just not acceptable when you consider the cost. The trip itself fun if there is not a drought. The lake just is not as pretty when it's low. Houseboating is very much like camping. It's a lot of work. And managing the boat can add stress. We had an issue with the speedboat and spotty cell service. When we were able to get through, the office didn't answer. It was really stressful.

The barbecue does not work nor does the refrigerator. Air conditioner not sized appropriately and is at least 20 years old. Paint on exterior is peeling. At the marina, the staff lets dog roam free and are allowed to pee and poop anywhere on the deck where the public is, especially with toddlers around. You check in at 1:30 but can't board until 5 because they have not cleaned the boat, so you lose 1/2 day of your time. Only one quad to unload everyone so that takes 3 hours when you come in. Launch ramp was not ready on arrival so you must pay $15 for the public launch and not reimbursed. Overall a terrible experience since change of ownership. We've been coming here 16 years but the experience this year is so bad we will never come back. Obvious the owners are not putting anything into this business. No star at all is best.

I came across The Reel Thing July 27, 2016. My cousin and I had just pulled the boat up into the shade so we could start prepping it for the week ahead of fishing. Shortly after we began our setup a gentleman came down the hill in a golf cart. He circled around the boat and asked, "Are you guys going to be here long?" We replied with a friendly no. The next thing you know this gentleman introduced himself as Bob and began telling us about the fish. Bob gave my cousin and I so much detailed information our brains almost exploded. Bob then let it be known he is a guide on Shasta and has many years on Shasta and other lakes. Bob's friendly demeanor and willingness to provide so much information to non paying people was so amazing. He was not trying to sell us a guided trip. He didn't tell us to get off his lake.
