We just took our 18U Allstar Softball Team (National Champs) on a white water rafting adventure last week. Tom bent over backwards to accommodate our team schedule and make sure the girls had a blast on the Klamath River!!! We highly recommend him and his company!! Thanks Tom and the other guides that made the adventure so fun!!!

After the Day 2 on the Upper Klamath. Thanks Tom and Brian!

Hands down, best guide/cook/skillful/experienced dude around. Don't even think about going with another company, Tom and his crew exceeded expectations by 1000 times. Two buddies and myself googled rafting in Northern California, we came across Living Waters Recreation. We flew out to Cali with Zero experience and were looking for adventure, we were unsure what to expect in every aspect of the trip. We met Tom in Mount Shasta and headed up to the UK. All I can say wow, Tom is a professional rafter, funny dude, amazing cook, and super helpful. I watched videos of other rafters/guides...Tom makes the others look like amateurs...and you eat better than you ever have. Highly highly 1000% no brainer to call Tom at living waters recreation and book your trip. Safe, fun, experienced...don't thank me for this recommendation...tell your friends after you experience it.

Had a great time on the river the weekend before the 4th. Tom was a terrific guide- with a mix of historical trivia, wildlife knowledge and a couple of good jokes thrown in! He prepared us well for the hazards of the river. And the gourmet deli lunch was the best. The Upper Klamath is a beautiful stretch and although it got hairy a few times, Tom's expert guidance kept the 6 of us from wrapping, flipping or dumping. Thanks Tom!

I've crossed paths with many guide companies in my years behind the oars and it isn't always a pleasant experience. From the put in where the guides helped me move my 15' raft and gave me verbal beta on the notorious Dragons Tooth rapid to the actual rapid itself they were polite and helpful. We didn't see them for 2 days on the river until the scout for Dragons Tooth. Being just a single boat with two people I graciously accepted Aaron's offer to keep an eye on us through the scary rapid. Imagine my surprise as we emerged from the chaotic maelstrom to 6 guides working safety and 45 cheering clients. It was truly a surreal river experience. A big part of a great guide service is how they treat their customers and other boaters. If you want to be on the river with a self important grump, there are plenty of them out there. If your desire is to run a classic river with a truly nice, excited, and competent group of guides River Dancers is your outfit.

Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)

I booked a "beginners" class. If a person could know "less than nothing" about the sport, this is me. "Dan", the instructor provided the equipment needed. Boat, paddle and life vest all provided. He had folks cancel, and so there was just me. Yet, instead of calling and canceling the class, he drove all this way just so I could have my class. Who does this? Getting past the how grateful I was, onto the review. I was a bit leary at my age and weight, if I would survive an hour. (class was scheduled for 7 hrs). I was just going to go as long as I could. This man has been doing this for decades and his mannerism and making sure to go over safety things, and how to get out of the boat should I roll over was a comfort. Parents... trust this teacher with your children. I'm 6' and 215 lbs. So, if someone was going to "wobble", and fall over, it would be me! When we went into the water, Dan had "the patience of Job". Then... I "got it". I was actually out there making the boat move and with a little more time, making it move where I wanted it to! This was the most fun I've had in 2 decades! When the parts of my body that haven't moved like that got a bit sore, no problem to rest, or go to shore for a break. Dan is a professional no doubt. I cannot recommend more highly if you've ever wanted to learn, then go to the website. He offers "white water, and sea" classes as well for the more adventurous. If your like me, and just want to "paddle around local waters", he's will teach you how to SAFELY do so. I'll be doing this alone, so that was huge for me. Hope your found this helpful. :)

I highly recommend Dan to anybody who is just getting into water sports, or is wanting to advance to the next level.

The shooting involved expert SAFE instruction and a revolving set of varied experiences with different weapons. The children in attendance had the time of their lives as did this 74 year old horsewoman! The ranch is self sufficient ( off the grid) and well off the beaten path. A real community developed amongst the guests under the guidance and warm personalities of Heidi and Doug. The 30 plus years of love and devotion to the upkeep of the natural beauty of their ranch showed in the gardens and plantings of flowers and trees in abundance.
