LWR is very nice and has professional guides that were good at avoiding obstacles and letting us have fun. We did the Upper Klamath River from Boyle Powerhouse to Copco Lake on August 27 that was pretty much continuous Class 4+ rapids for two hours. One thing to note is that there is a decent amount of driving, first to get to the city of Mt Shasta (in your car) and then to get to the put-in (in their van) and vis versa. We did pick up people in the small town of Keno in Oregon so it might be better to do this river segment if you're staying in Klamath Falls/Medford rather than somewhere in NorCal. The van's AC wasn't working too well on the way back so that could be improved. read more

We went on 2 rafting trips within a couple of weeks of each other and each trip was so amazing. It was so fun and enjoyable! We heard some really cool stories about previous rafting trips that the guides had been on. One of the guides even stopped to get my nephew (who was so terrified to go in the boat) at a pit stop down the river. It was incredible and he was able to conquer his fear with the patience and love that was shown to him! The spot we stop at for a snack is really nice and relaxing. The guides both are incredible! I had an amazing first rafting trip with out guide Tom. We did the 1/2 day class 2 rapids on upper Klamath with my 6 year old daughter and my 44-year old scared-of-the-water girlfriend. Hearing both of their squeals of delight and fright made it a huge win. Nothing risky at all of course. :0) We went right after July 4th on the 7th and had the river to ourselves. Saw 2 river otters, some great blue herons, deer, and lots of old mining tailings. Tom was full of great stories from his past adventures and knew lots of local history that brought the scenery to life. Come early to Tree of Heaven and have a late brunch or lunch and enjoy the scenery. I'll definitely be back next year for some class 3 rapids action! read more

We did the half day trip down the Klamath River with Eric as our guide. We went on the 1/2 day rafting trip leaving from Tree of Heaven Campground. It was an amazing trip, and our guide Tom was great. He knows the river so well and was able to give us a great ride thorugh the rapids. He also regaled us with some of the history of the area, along with a few jokes. Our lunch was very tasty. All in all it was an excellent experience and we will repeat it next time we are in the area; although we will probablty opt for the full day trip next time since it was so much fun. read more

We rafted the Klamath River on a beginner run (Middle Klamath/ Tree of Heaven) earlier this week and had such a positive experience that we decided to come back a few days later for a more advanced run on the Upper Klamath. The two runs were enjoyable in different ways, even for rafters with experience. We enjoyed floating outside the raft for large stretches in relatively warm waters in Tree of Heaven. While the Tree of Heaven was a mild run, it did offer fun rapids. We enjoyed every minute. Brian our guide was a lot of fun. Members of our group have rafted Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Colorado, and California. The Upper Klamath was the best rafting experience we collectively have had. The rapids are frequent and in between the scenery is just beautiful. Eric our guide has decades of experience. He was very serious about our safety but also a lot of fun. Confidence in your rafting guide makes all the difference, especially in a higher level run. Both Eric and Arly, our driver, were very knowledgeable about the river, area, and how to have the best experience possible. Overall our experience of Living Waters Recreation was that they are highly competent, safe, and fun. Tom the owner was also a pleasure to interact with. I was searching for whitewater rafting trips on the internet when I came across Living Waters. They are a 5 star company, with surprisingly cheaper prices than most of the other rafting companies I searched. Living Waters also has the best looking website, so I decided to call and make a reservation with them. We booked a half-day rafting trip on the Middle Klamath river, or Tree of Heaven near Yreka, CA. This river is a Class II - III, which is geared for families with children ages 3 and up. My friends and I were a little late in the season to book our trip, so we didn't get to go on anything exciting like a Class IV, but this was still a blast, thanks to our river guide, Tom. Tom took us 7.1 miles down the river (a 2.5 hour trip) and has been a professional river guide for 18+ years. He knew all about the history and underbelly of the Shasta and Humboldt County areas, as well as folk tales and even horticulture. He also had countless jokes up his sleeve to keep us entertained--he's a good conversationalist as well. Tom was also very laid back about our schedule and didn't rush our trip one bit. He knows the river by heart, and informed us of where we could swim in the river. He banked the boat a couple times so we could get out to pick blackberries and swim down one of the rapids as many times as we wanted. He also takes safety very seriously and went over river safety precautions with us before and even during the trip. After our adventure was over, he drove us back to our car and had a picnic lunch set up for us with chips, salsa, fresh fruits, vegetables, crackers, cheese, lunch meats, water and sodas. I will definitely be booking rafting trips with Tom and Living Waters Recreation next year, and for several years to come. read more

My husband has always wanted to go white water rafting so I thought what better time than his birthday. He had a blast! We all did as a matter of fact. Customer service was great!!! Tom called us before the trip and after to make sure everything was perfect! He asked me how old my hubby was turning so I told him and at the end of lunch he had a cake with the numbers 29 on the top. They really went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time. My family spent a wonderful half-day going down the mid-Klamath with Clancy in early August. The water was cool and comfortable to swim in, nothing like the frigid Sierra snowmelt, coming as it does down from Klamath Lake in Oregon. We saw great blue herons and a bald eagle, and Clancy told us about where they live and how they eat on the river. Our family usually rafts without a guide but that may change after this exceptional experience. With Clancy guiding, we didn't argue about who was leading, we didn't get stuck on rocks, and we didn't work ourselves to soreness trying to fight the river, since Clancy knew how to help us follow the currents. We range in age from early 20s to mid-50s and all had a blast. We would definitely recommend. read more

We did the full day trip and took the Upper Klamath 17 miles. The family has done water water rafting once before and this definitely topped the previous experience. Tom is a naturalist, historian, and professional rafter. You can't beat his passion and experience. We had ages from the 20s to 60s and everyone had a truly memorable experience. Mom and I wanted a fun adventure and we got that plus more ! Tom and his crew are fantastic. They picked us up at our hotel in downtown Mt. Shasta and drove us to the entry for rafting. Our guide Eric was informative about the area and also a blast to raft with. He kept us all in the boat (Woohoo!!! Sucess!). This trip was a perfect combination of thrill, beauty, and a bit of relaxation toward the end where the river mellows out. We experienced everything from floatng the river to class 4+ Rapids. Halfway down, we stopped for a delicious and much warrented lunch. There was more than enough for the entire group. At the end of the float, Tom once again met us with a nice refreshing brew as the crew packed up the vans and we drove back home. Even the van ride was enjoyable with Tom sharing history of the area and Eric sharing epic stories of paragliding and his other adventures. I would like to DITTO Allison's review on Sept. 2007! That is precisely the service and experience my husband and I received when we went rafting in April. But there's more to add. We were only going to do a half day but the campground we were suppose to meet at was closed, so Tom had us meet at the full day campground and only charged us for the half day. It was AMAZING on all aspects. Tom was genuine, worked around our vacation schedule and timing, no rush, no stress, guided us on which rafting trip to take which was dependent on the water levels at that time, always kept in contact with us leading up to the trip, served us a lovely lunch, had all the safety precautions and supplies needed, and a wonderful personality to top it off. We just returned from a three-week trip to California and Oregon, visiting five areas. One of the absolute highlights of our whole trip was our experience rafting class 3 and 4 rapids on the Upper Klamath. I had called several places prior to our trip, as I wanted the absolute best experience for our group of six; Tom was extremely prompt in returning my call, and answered all of my questions. After much research and another call to Tom, I decided to book with Living Waters. We were picked up right at our hotel by a very friendly and gregarious Tom and Eric, and before we knew it we were at our destination. It was an overcast and not very warm day, but Tom was well-equipped, offering us wet suit coveralls. He gave us a very thorough safety talk, and made sure all of our life jackets and helmets fit securely. Once on our way, he talked about the history of the areas we were passing. The scenery was spectacular, and the rapids were AMAZING! Tom easily went from mild-mannered guide to drill sergeant, then back again, guiding us with confidence through the thrilling rapids. It was clear that Tom's top priority, besides safety, was assuring that we all had a fantastic experience. Our stop for lunch was in a beautiful spot, and the spread laid out was varied and delicious (tablecloths, no less!). We have rafted in many other states, and Living Waters is easily the best outfitter we've ever had the pleasure to use. My husband and I recently booked a trip with tom for us and our 6 children ranging from 9 yrs to 15yrs. I am currently having a hard time finding the right words to describe our experience. It was AWESOME. My kids had a great time as did my husband and myself. I was terrified at first but the experience tom had was very comforting and he was very informative about everything during the trip. The scenery and wildlife was beautiful. We learned a lot about the history of the river and the areas along the river. We did the tree of heaven trip and it was wonderful. Tom represents the living waters recreation extremely well. We plan on coming back and experiencing the rapids again with Tom and the living waters recreation. It was such a great experience my husband and I cant stop talking about it and are recommending other family and friends to try it out. My kids cant wait to go back to school so they can share what they experienced while rafting. It was great I cant praise this place enough.
