Even more distressing, our family first learned of her death through a text message of condolence from the care home rather than from hospice staff. This level of inattention and lack of communication during a patient's final moments is unacceptable and represents a profound failure of basic hospice care.

However, it was abundantly apparent that the nurses and social worker were not familiar with stroke patients and the atypical pattern of decline seen in stroke patients. Nurse Amber yelled at the patient's daughter when the she called Amber out on several issues. These issues included but are not limited to: manipulating PPS scores (and other metrics) for administrative purposes to justify releasing patient from hospice care, inability to maintain professional conduct, and lacked any ability to show empathy. Nurses Debbie and Sharice were even less professional. Madi, the social worker, was a disappointment to our family as well. Please look elsewhere! The patient passed TWO WEEKS after being released from Arcy's Hospice 'care'. The thing that is MOST troubling is that not a single nurse or administrator reached out to offer condolences to the family after the patient passed. After almost a year on hospice, the family and the patient deserved more than silence. Arcy Hospice takes zero accountability and has no respect for the truth. The owner lacks integrity and offers nothing to mediate conflict between family members and the administrators and nurses. Please look at other options in the community. There are better hospices in Flower Mound and the surrounding area. Avoid Arcy - your loved one has an innate right to compassionate care that Arcy Hospice simply cannot provide.

The dining room is not carpeted and so quite noisy for the residents. Food service can be uneven and the food was often not very hot! But I found that if my mother asked to have something fixed, the servers were always kind and accommodating! My mother passed away one year ago. I was with her along with hospice, which they allowed to take care of her in her apartment. I found the staff of The Oaks to be so accommodating and concerned. I wish my mother could have enjoyed living there for many more years!

Sage Oak in Denton has been a Godsend for our family…read more We were a family in crisis looking for a new assisted living residence that would accept our elderly mother post-surgery, as we were told she could not return to her prior residence because she now required care beyond what they "could" provide. A social worker referred us to Sage Oak, as she knew they had the quality of staff to care for our mother in a more intimate environment. We moved our mother's belongings out of the "Big Box" assisted living (nearly 100 residents) to Sage Oak (1:5 - 1:8 caregiver to resident ratio) which calls itself a Boutique community. Mom has been at Sage Oak for a couple of weeks. She is happy and thriving. Sage Oak has demonstrated to our family that they invest in the well-being of their residents over their corporate gain. The administrative staff, caregivers, chefs and everyone at Sage Oak we now consider members of our own family. Together, we continue to provide loving care for Mom.

There were some wonderful staff at Sage Oak (Amanda, Mitchell, Diedre, Tay, Ashley, Dorcus, Felecia, Soozie and more) but the constant turnover was a real problem when my brother was a resident there. Some of the attitudes of some the caregivers were truly despicable and that is what made the experience at Sage Oak a difficult one. Staff not properly trained resulted in patient accidents. Staff laziness, gossip circles, complete insubordination, and cell phone obsession took place while residents' needs were often times ignored. Many in the management branch of this company changed positions frequently. During my brother's 19 month residency, there were 5 different directors of nursing. There were executive director changes. (at least 4 that I can remember.) The one person in upper management who always addressed family concerns was Skylar, the last executive director we experienced. He truly walks a dedicated path in the field of elder care and is a huge credit to this company. The owner Loe is rarely visible and manages to live in a different reality from the difficult issues that Sage Oak staff, residents and their families often endure.

My elderly parents moved to Good Samaritan Village in the early 2000s, and my brilliant father was keen on moving from our family home on Bell and Roberts St., near Texas Woman's University. My Hundred Year Old mother, Peggy Fearing has really enjoyed the last stage of her life and remained in the Creekside Duplex, #35 for the past two decades, and shows no signs of going anywhere: Indeed, her chief complaint is generally the absence of visitors and the wholesale loss of hearing and eye sight. My two sisters are currently on vacation, in tropical places that don't concern me. Kim and Marilyn Harris generally take turns on who goes when. Meanwhile, it's deep sunny summer time in North Denton, Texas and I pray that our Air Conditioner hangs in there for the duration and blessed fall weather conditions, which includes the usual seasonal changes and shorter days. The staff would not provide us with information about her care, physical therapy, occupation therapy, food intake, water intake, medications or anything we asked them to inform us about. We found out on the day we checked her out of there that they had not been giving her one of her required medications for the entire three weeks she was there. Our family was given a meeting with the social worker, a nurse, PT, and OT and we asked for charted notes of what she had been doing there and her progress and they told us they could not provide that information. We found her soiled in bed a few times. She never had fresh water to drink when we would arrive. We did not find any evidence of skilled nursing taking place for our mother.
