The scenery and wildlife were an added bonus. The entire staff was wonderful. We had daily housekeeping service, continental breakfast every day (or you can cook your own with their supplied groceries), and complete fish processing. Each day our catch was processed into portion sizes, vacuum packed, and into the deep freezer. When we were getting ready to leave, our fish was packed into insulated boxes to check as luggage on the plane. We just wish we had done this 30 years ago! This is my peace and serenity hang out even if for a few minutes break during my semi regular bike ride while visiting the city of Kenai. it is never crowded and I am always alone for the half a dozen times or so that I have visited. Beautiful view of the mouth of the world famous Kenai River as it drains into the Cook Inlet of the Pacific Ocean. I have not come in July but came here in September and October but know it would be madness during the heavy sockeye run especially when they open it up for dip netting. Now that would be a great show! Worth a visit!

There's a short easy trail around part of the small lake (part of the lake has private homes.) Mosquitos are monstrous, the stocked trout clearly have plenty to eat. Bring bug spray! There's no boat launch, but the walk from the free parking to the shore is about .2 miles down hill, so you could easily carry a lightweight kayak if you're inclined. Its very serene here and there's lots of nature trees. This location is best enjoyed by small motorless watercraft.

There are campsites for tents and RVs, firepits, toilets, water, boat launch and a fishing platform. Camping sites are first-come, first-served and check out time is noon. Since everybody knows about this place, it's hardly a secret so there's definitely combat fishing during the high season. If you get there early you can enjoy some serious fishing and it's a great place to relax and enjoy Alaska.

After being skunked for almost a week of fishing this was my last chance to catch anything before…read moregoing back home. High Adventure Air was able to accommodate putting me on a fly out sockeye salmon charter within a day...it was such last minute on my part but I had to go and every other company was completely booked! I wouldn't even look for another company to go out with, this is your place to go. It's in Soldotna right on the water, they have planes flying in and out all day! My guide was Drew and he was awesome! Our pilot was Ben who did an awesome job navigating us to and from our fishing spot! There were four people in the group headed out on an awesome Beaver seaplane. The flight was about 30 minutes from the office which wasn't bad at all especially with the beautiful scenery along the way. When we arrived (with the smoothest landing ever) we hopped in a small boat and immediately Drew made sure we understood the rules and safety for the trip, along with our daily itinerary. He was able to answer all of our questions and share his knowledge about the land and fishing. His stories were really cool to hear! Once we anchored down at our fishing spot Drew was sure to brief us on how the reels worked, how to cast correctly, and how we could be successful at catching fish. Wouldn't you know within the first 5 minutes two of the guys on the boat caught fish. It took me a little longer than everyone else but Drew was patient and helped everyone else. We all hit our limit catching sockeye (red) salmon in less than an hour! Afterwards Drew drove us around and showed us different spots on the water and we even saw some bears! He took us to a cool waterfall spot to have our pictures taken with our fish too! Then he filleted our salmon and divided it up amongst us evenly and gave it to us in individual bags so it was easy to take home. He surprised us by bringing some cooking supplies and he cooked us some salmon right there! It was the freshest tasting salmon ever and it had a great homemade seasoning that he makes! Then he drove us around some more to show us another spot where we may see bears, but also where salmon jump up a creek bed to spawn. Unfortunately we didn't see any jumping up the creek but we did see them flopping out of the water in that area. The plane came back to pick us up right on time, and Ben (the pilot) took us on a surprise detour to see a glacier before flying back! This entire day was awesome and I would definitely recommend! The price is totally worth it and it's not even as expensive as other fly out companies. If I am ever back in Anchorage I will definitely come on this trip again! **tips** - Bring layers! The day started out with not a cloud in the sky and by the end of our charter it was pouring rain and about 45°. - Bring and wear bug spray/lotion! I promise you there are tons of mosquitos! - Pack some snacks/sandwiches or something to hold you over because it's a long day out there!

Our guide, Derek, was the best ever and the fishing, wildlife viewing, glacier tour and plane ride were remarkable. You don't wanna miss this!

The temperature was in the high 60s and the beach had a few people in it and it had a beautiful view of the nearby mountains. I saw plenty of fish carcasses and that tells me that this area has lots of good fishing. a day before I had seen a lot of fishermen lined up fishing for salmon. There are bathrooms and a large parking lot. There are also some trails that start from the parking lot. There are also a few fire pits for beach bonfires.

Our recent family camping trip to the Kenai River Dipnet Area was unfortunately a terrible…read moreexperience. It seems there might have been recent rule changes, but the myriad of regulations in place definitely made our visit miserable.We went with a large group of 10 family members, including kids, and were charged nearly $300 for three SUVs and a small U-Haul trailer. To our dismay, we discovered that trailers aren't allowed past the parking lot--not even to the designated loading and unloading area. Additionally, you can't bring your vehicle to the designated camping spot without risking a citation.Unaware of this, we brought our SUV to the camping site and began setting up. Just 30 minutes later, two officers informed us of the rule. This meant we had to unload everything from the beach entrance and carry it half a mile to our camping spot. Essentially, we paid a hefty fee for parking lot space a mile away from where we were supposed to camp.Another frustrating rule is the fishing restriction: no fishing is allowed from 11 PM to 6 AM. This severely limited our fishing opportunities and added to our dissatisfaction.We wish we had been informed about these rules before being charged. Had we known, we would have turned around and gone to Kasilof instead. My advice to the management is to provide a detailed list of beach rules before taking people's money. This would prevent others from facing the same unpleasant surprise we did.Overall, the experience was a waste of time and money, and we left feeling extremely disappointed.

I personally am not a fan of dip…read morenetting because I see far too much waste and lack of enforcement at fishing locations in recent years. Our state and federal parks will only continue to be a resource for all people.to share if they have adequate park ranger staffing 5o ensure our parks are protected and cared for. People are just leaving fish waste on the beach which is super dangerous and disgusting, and frankly RUDE. This location was the worst I have ever seen. I saw so much remains on the beach, including eggs. It was absolutely shocking. Normally, when its not dipnetting time, this is a beautiful beach, with sandy beaches and clear views of the snowy volcanoes. Its a mixed bag, depending on when you visit.
