The sand surrounding the beach is full of sticker plants and I was picking stickers from my dogs paws so he couldn't enjoy the beach area. The cabins only have beds. They don't have kitchens so you'll need to bring your own cooking source or cook on the fire pit. I had one day left when the grounds keeper came through with a leaf blower. Mind you the area where he was blowing was dirt and gravel. I didn't think much of it till he came around a third time and at that point I felt he was doing it on purpose so I packed up and left the campground. It is not a place I will recommend nor go to again. Some people love the spot but I've been to better places.

This is an absolutely lovely little park/off-leash dog area…read more The off-leash area is really great and gives the puppers plenty of area to run and play in a fenced in area for safety. Outside of the dog area you can go up to the historic farm and take a walk in the meadows. Further down it gets really muddy and completely impassable, but most of it is perfectly fine. Great place to come get some fresh air!

There's been "special locks" in the morning that only certain people had the code for, they park wherever, and can come off as rude. However.... understandably so as some dog owners either don't know how to control their dog, or don't even try to pick up after their pet. I've witnessed a lot of aggressive dogs here. Even an owner punching his dog for having a grip on another's dog neck. *This is not a park for training * If you're unsure hire your dog acts, try a muzzle or something. The park can also become very dirty and rank. Early morning regulars are the chillest but in the afternoons it can get interesting. If your dog is very chill and gets along with others, highly recommend one of the two off-the-leash trail parks by Port Orchard.

What I love about it…read moremost is that there is the small area which not too many dogs come into so my little guy can really just roam around and watch the big dogs in the other area. It's super fun to watch the big dogs run and play real hard as they do, but I'm always looking for the puppies and young dogs to come play with my very old toy poodle here. I've encountered some very nice people and I always appreciate meeting people who love and take good care of their furry ones. It's amazing how many people actually have rescue dogs, like I do, from Humane Society and other rescue centers. I'm a complete believer in the idea those of us who can, actually make the effort two help those dogs that have been thrown away. It's pretty clear that these dog park going families care about their dogs because they're here taking time in the dog park rather than just putting their dog out in their backyard or walking them in their own neighborhoods. It takes time to drive to a dog park, especially this one for me, but it's worth it. Oh, and attach to the park is a walking trail.

Raab Park's entryway is a crash/accident-causing bottleneck with one narrow passage way for cars,…read moredogwalkers, skateboarders and utility vehicles like trash trucks and maintenance heavy trucks. The paved road is a tiny ribbon with edges that teeter off into the dirt - not gently sloped. City of Poulsbo Parks and Recreation department has liability here - waiting for the lawsuit shoe to drop. Once inside however, you can enjoy several nature interaction features, even nature solitude, while the children's playground has been revamped as of 2025. The park manages to fit in many things such as the following -- * A designed, interactive, children's educational garden managed by trained "Master Gardeners." Here, tons of produce are grown and donated for charitable food distribution. Imaginative and whimsical garden sculpture will draw surprise delights, and thoughtful plantings offer live lessons of ecology. * A "community garden" with multiple raised growing beds, where citizens rent a "patch" to grow their own fresh vegetables (and it has a compost pile in the back if you want to drop off your kitchen scraps). Rent includes gardening tools, watering hoses, and a generally well-run operation. * A skatepark, basketball courts, picnic shelter with multiple picnic tables for the community to hold events * A fun quirky children's playground with fun swings and slides * A view through the trees and downhill, of Poulsbo's downtown and harbor, flanked on the far horizon by the Olympic mountain range, an excellent place to watch a summer sunset. Sadly the park benches face in the opposite direction from this jaw-dropping view--back towards a worn walkway and old picnic table. The imagination of bureaucracies and their workmen of how people might behold nature and appreciate its grandeur is seriously impaired (such a view of the Olympic Mountain Range and they set up seats facing the opposite direction?!) * A few single-track foot trails into the woods around the perimeter of the flat, artificially planted lawn lead into wooded hillsides and offer shady nooks, rich with bird calls, to escape from the open hilltop monoculture of grass * The central flat expanse of monocultural grass is a horrendous ecological desert, a big zero--but fits the American settler desire aesthetic of claiming land into the wide horizon. (Beware the many entitled dog owners who run their pets without leashes on this wide open space, yet another City liability -- waiting to become a law suit.) This park is used by many people and is wonderful for people watching, while still having space for your own private experience of communing with nature.

He was running back and forth with some of the smaller dogs on the other side of the fence between the small and large dog park. He accidentally got to close to one of the fence poll and sliced his side open. He is fine but unfortunately did have a trip to the emergency vet and got a few stitches and antibiotics because of how deep the cut was.

I personally love this dog park. It's rarely crowded and it's entirely flat. It's in the back of a…read morepark, so it's an open landscape and beautiful. There's great wildlife in the area, but that may not last too much longer since the land surrounding the park is being sold.

My husband grew up in Magnolia, so he took me here for a hike last weekend, and I was completely blown away. ​We explored the south side and walked the Loop Trail. The path is well-maintained and offers stunning panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It's hard to believe you're still within the city limits! It's the largest park in the city, so there is plenty of space to enjoy nature. Whether you want a serious hike or just a peaceful stroll to see the water, this is the place to go. Don't forget your camera--the scenery is post-card perfect!

From an urban park perspective, the only other experience that comes close for me is when I moved to the Old Town Manchester neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia, and had Belle Isle in my backyard, which offers access to hiking, large flat rocks for sunbathing, and whitewater rafting on Class II, III, and IV rapids on the James River right in the middle of downtown. Okay, back to Discovery Park. I spent an entire day exploring the park. I started by ordering a carryout lunch at Damoori Kitchen, which is now closed according to Yelp. I then walked to Discovery Park and hiked the 4.4-mile Discovery Park and Lighthouse Loop. A map for that trail can be accessed using a trail app. The loop trail took me through several ecosystems such as coastal meadows, tidal beaches, forest groves, sand dunes, and vast stretches of thickets with wild berries. Once I finished hiking the loop, I walked back to Damoori Kitchen and caught a rideshare back to downtown Seattle. Highlights from my Discovery Park adventure included eating lunch at the tidal beach, exploring sea cliffs, seeing jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, hiking past the West Point Lighthouse, and experiencing the sights, sounds, flora, and fauna of the park's majestic landscape.
