How cool it was to have a volunteer event here…read more I have only been to the parade maybe once, but watched the floats many times on TV. It's quite something to be so up close and a get to be a part of the small section of the float. It's located at a warehouse, was told to wear grubby clothes and to dress warm from other colleagues that have done this event before. The entrance to the gated parking lot for the parade company is just passed the guard gate. There's a sign for the Parade company at the guard gate and the fence and gated entrance is right after the guard gate on the left. Keep an eye out for the extremely color blovkdftbuilding, that's where you'll be parking near. You enter by ringing the doorbell and the reception will let you in and guide you to the room for your team. They will soon be opening up the Saturday volunteer events for family members, and The Lake. They also suggested previous volunteers to come after hours uncertain days through the week as well to help out. The team was working on seven floats for the Thanksgiving parade this year. They will often repair and refurbish older floats to use again. I think Russ said their oldest float is from the late 90s. Russ works in the paint department. You can definitely see some very distinct characteristic floats, and heads throughout the warehouse. It's really large warehouse with big skylights that can make it very hot if it's warmer outside. Today was a perfect day inside, since it was only about 74° outside. It's really a fun event to do with your team members at a corporation or anywhere. They do provide gloves, aprons, paint brushes, and rolling pins. I think it would probably make sense to use nicer, rolling pins and paint brushes, since they get a little gunk up and messed up, which then can cause some clumps and junk as your paint. At the end of your volunteer event, the team will go through and rinse off all the rollers, paint brushes, and are asked to put back any unused paint into the main paint pale. I would definitely come again, it was my first time participating in making a section of a parade float. There are other corporations represented, most likely from my same company.

If for nothing more, you can appreciate this tour for its showcase of manufacturing history. After all, the Ford vehicle is the father of automotive history. On the tour you'll learn about much of the owner's early labor standards and America's rich automotive industry history including defining moments like the establishment of labor unions, integrating technology on the assembly line, and community engagement. What makes this tour special is the building is not just a museum, but a real working truck factory located at the Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Truck Plant. On the tour you'll be able to view the vehicle assembly area. I recommend purchasing tour tickets online to see if discounts are available. Overall, a very good tour worth taking.

An interesting, EPCOT-like factory tour…read more Bought a combination for the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. My favorite part of the tour was talking to the security guard who gave more insight into the assembly line. Took a 15 minute bus ride from the museum to the factory. Check the schedule as the buses do run on time. The factory tour has five stations. A movie, a laser Ford truck assembly show, the observation deck, the factory, a smallish room filled with a collection of Ford cars over the past century. The movie glossed over the beginnings of Henry Ford's inventions with an emphasis on the creation of an assembly line to cut down the time to build a car from 12 hours to 93 minutes. The moving part assembly line in Highland Park was super efficient. By breaking down the process to 84 steps and having stationary workers build each car, it really streamlined the process. This dropped the price of the Model T from $850 in 1908 to $260 in 1925 making the luxury vehicle affordable for an average family in America. Workers were paid $2.50 a day, but as the company became more profitable (and many workers were quitting due to boredom with monotonous tasks) the wages were increased to $5 a day. Ford had many conflicts with the Automobile Unions (UAW). Fights were physical and bloody. Graphic images released in the news in the 1930s turned public opinion against Ford. In the 1940s, he held out signing a Union contract until his wife Clara Ford threatened to leave him unless he signed a contract to stop the bloodshed. The 1941 UAW gave the workers the best benefits and wages at the time. The "assembly" laser 360 movie show was very EPCOT-like. Interesting, but not informative. The guide at the observation deck was very good. This is one of two places where photos were allowed. The elevated walk over the assembly line was self guided. Since they are very behind on construction, shift work is done on the weekends. Interesting to see the F-150s being assembled station by station. Spoke to a security guard who gave us insight into the safety gear needed, the energy efficient design of the building and how strikes and the union still advocate for workers salaries, working conditions and benefits. Otherwise, it would have been more like walking through another area with labels but limited explanation. No photos allowed here. The building is very interesting. No air conditioning, but the high ceilings allow heat to rise and the green roof with living plants make the building more climate controlled and energy efficient. Teams work in groups of 8 at each station. Lunch breaks are taken at the same. Key to know if you want to see the assembly line in action. The latest strike brought back more benefits. Workers wear eye protection and hearing protection. So interesting to learn more after asking questions. The last part of the self guided part of the tour brings you back to the main building for a view of cars like the Model A, the Thunderbird and the Mustang. Make sure to check the schedule to get a bus to go back to the Museum after the Ford Rouge Factory Tour is completed. An interesting tour, but not the best factory experience that I have taken.

I called the place that I got it from a couple years ago. The Scooter Store. They said it would be 4 to 8 weeks before someone could come out. Okay. A few weeks later... they asked about my insurance, (Medicare supplemental). After a few weeks a women called back and said my insurance wanted the chair inspected before authorizing repairs. Seem reasonable. Then she remarked that "the Scooter Store doesn't do that anymore." Well @#$& me! I'll be damned if I'll let them fix it or EVER recommend them. There are many other companies who stand behind the products they sell. Not the Scooter Store. After the sale you are apparently on your own. Take the money and run must be their company motto. 1. Wheelchair broke prematurely, seldom used, less than 4 hours. 2. They didn't even wish me "Good Luck." 3. NO after sale support. NONE !!! Go to hell's basement Scooter Store. I stopped by Motor City Harley-Davidson Sunday to look at a few bikes…read more Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile and checked in as a VIP customer. As a Harley-Davidson Motor Company employee the first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful showroom. The display of of new and used bikes as well as an amazing parts department and HUGE general merchandise area. I was introduced to my salesperson Sam, whom I recommend for your next purchase. She is not only beautiful, but on top of her game. She is very knowledgeable of both new and pre-owned inventory. I also had the pleasure of working with Brian, in finance. My first choice, a 2026 Sportster, was out of my reach at this time but he was able to work his magic and get me rolling on a pre-owned bike for just $103.00 a month. From there I was introduced to Andrea in general merchandise who hooked me up with a free T-shirt and Steve in parts who reminded me to purchase a battery tender to keep my baby charged. This is the part where I became overwhelmed & forgot the name of the fantastic service advisor who went over the service history of my purchase and when I should be back for my next scheduled maintenance. A special shout out to Sam, my salesperson and the tiny beautiful blonde receptionist for watching and entertaining my 6 year old granddaughter all afternoon to make this all happen for me.
