** Update *** 10/16/2020 I never thought I'd be writing this about Earl. But things went from good to bad then to worse. The day after they primed the pump, I went to use the pump & there was no water. The priming had failed. I made several attempts to contact Pruitt via email, Facebook & leaving phone messages. The one time a phone call actually got thru to him, he told me he'd call back in 10 minutes as he was on the road. I'm still waiting for a call back. This is the worse I've been treated by any business. Astonished to see they did not guarantee their work when procedure failed. Sad thing is, up until now, I thought very highly of this business & their professionalism & the owner. But when a company refuses to guarantee their work and refuses to respond to an unsatisfied customer complaint, something has gone terribly wrong with the business and or owner. Earl I hope you pull things together ** Update ** 10/1/2020. This year we had an extremely suppressing hot summer. I ventured outside only to mow the lawn, otherwise i stayed inside & never went out to my garden. Consequently, i didn't run the well pump for a few months. When we finally had a suitable day to be out side with my container plants, i turned on my pump and nothing. Nada. Not a damn drop. The pump was running alright but that was it. So when I have a well / pump problem who am i going to call? Earl of course! Yes the pump [a 62 year old model] had lost it's prime Within minutes Earl & his crew had my pump running and my plants were anxious for some water. A year and a half ago Earl and crew brought back to life an old nonfunctioning well that came with the house we bought. They repaired the well pipe and installed new pump. They really knew what they were doing. It worked and still works. A small water leak developed at the pump seal. They were out the next day. Replaced the seal, no leak, no charge. Out of warranty. 14 years ago Earl Pruitt replaced a defective deep well pump at our residence. As luck would have the pump died. I guess 14 years is a good run. I contacted Earl and later that day he came to the house to determine the failure and course of action. The very next day Earl and his staff were on the job replacing the pump. Contracted with Earl Pruitt's Pump and Well Service in August 2018 to drill a well mid November. Finally in January 2019 and after multiple delays due to equipment, staff, etc issues, I asked for my refund back. Refunding my deposit took multiple calls, but finally received. Not sure what's happened with the company reliability and ability to perform their work...I would use another company until issues can be resolved. read more

There's a reason Earl Pruitt has a D+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Do your homework, find someone else in the Largo area, read the reviews and you will find similar encounters. My parents (in their 80's) hired them to drill, they were told they needed an 40ft well, after a month the well went dry. Mom called them back and was told they need to drill again and would cost $8000 with half $$$ up front. Check was cashed immediately and no one came back to do the work and there would be no refund. She kept trying to get her money back and Earl was extremely rude and cussed at my mother. Another outfit was called in to inspect the well and found the so called 40ft well was only 18ft deep. Not a reputable company, shady business dealings, rude ownership, typical Florida crooks. read more

DO NOT USE THIS MAN - I am a manager of a 55+ community and started having problems with our old well. We run our outside water for the residents irrigation 24/7 have done so for over 30+yrs. Mr. Pruitt came to park, gave me estimate and spoke of all the knowledge and work he has done and what I needed and charged me $40K+ stupid me right? for going with this person I thought was honest. Tried to tell me can not have pump running 24/7 (after installed & PD) only run 12 hours then shut off rest and don't need a cycle pump, need bigger tanks for more pressure, etc. MORE $$$$$ With all the going back and forth, not returning my calls, texts, showing up announced our well pump still not working on its own we had to shut off & on manually until we could get fixed correctly, residents in an uproar! months after installed still not working correctly. I CALLED ANOTHER WELL COMPANY TO COME IN & FIX THIS FIASCO and yes had to pay more $ so they fixed the problem. Seems Mr. Pruitt that knows so much took out cycle pump did not put new in-MUCH NEEDED IMPORTANT PART. I Over paid on this job, didn't need large tanks-JUST NEEDED TO INCREASE PSI for pressure (which new company did). Had to get electrical updated with more Volts. After all the fixing of Pruitt's mess, paying out more money, new well pump running 24/7 just like we always had. Did more research on this guy turns out license was taken away before, a lot of customers not happy with him noticed many of the good reviews are from years past, other customers have and are taking him to court, closed down one company name then just open another company in another name! OVER CHARGED ME BY $15K-$20K, his moto is "GO IN TAKE THE MONEY PUT IN AND DONE" Pruitt did not resolve anything, gave me nothing but a stress attack and fuming over throwing hard earned money away when I could have gotton what I now have for $15K!!!!! I have been using Earl Pruitts Well & Pump Service for YEARS...(since 1995)!! They installed my irrigation pump..that has been working for YEARS..without any problems whatsoever. I used to go to Home Depot and get pumps...and install them myself...but they would only last for 2 or 3 years. I called Earl out one day to help me with this problem...YEARS ago...and he came out within 2 days and explained to me about the internal parts of different pumps and how they work. He recommended a Myers pump...installed it...and I have had it in there for years with NO mishaps whatsoever! He was fair with his price and did excellent...and CLEAN work. Fast forward to 2016. I had a problem with one section of my lawn, where the water was not reaching out far enough to cover the grass. I replaced the heads as some of them were clogged..and old...and needed replaced. Went down to Home Depot...bought 13 new pop-up heads..and installed them. STILL...no pressure. A sprinkler guy I called came out and stated that for a 1 hp pump, 13 heads would never perform properly with enough pressure. I informed this gentleman that the system had been working for years previously without issue. He stated that.."Well..the pump is getting older and probably isn't pumping the way it did when it was once new. He recommended that I divide the zone of 13 heads into 2 sections, which would involve running a pipe under the lawn and creating a new zone. Sounded good in theory..but I called Earl just to make sure. Earl doesn't do work on sprinklers..but I trusted him to give me the right advice. He stated that I needed 10' throw nozzles...where the ones I had were up to 18'. SO...I went down to the Home Depot and the guy convinced me that his 15' throw nozzles would do the trick. "Just turn them down to what you need! It's the same thing!" So...I bought 13 new nozzles. It did NOT work. Frustrated...I called Earl back and told him it did not work. Earl stopped giving advice at that point..and said...I'll be out later tonight after he got done with a well install. He came over with 13 new 10' throw nozzles by Rainbird and installed them within 10 minutes. Turned on pump....PERFECT!!! The coverage was excellent...and he charged me ONLY for the nozzles...at his cost. My respect for this man grew huge at this point. There are a lot of well and pump guys out there. There is...in my humble opinion...NONE that have the knowledge and expertise of Earl and his crew. Earl is an excellent diagnostic technician/owner. He starts with the basics..and goes from there..which is EXACTLY what a good tech does. He deserves and has earned a 5 star rating in my books!! EDIT: Just an update to the review I just made. After my sprinkler situation...I had a pool pump go bad. I spoke with Earl...and while he doesn't work on pool pumps...he respected the fact that I had been using him for so long..that he came out to look at the situation. He tried to fix what he thought was the problem..but after a few attempts..we noticed that the underneath side of the motor was rusted out and the motor had been exposed to moisture and the elements. He left the house for a couple hours..and came back with a new pump for a VERY reasonable price..that I verified on Google...and installed it for a very reasonable price. Now...I would have attempted to replace this pump on my own..paid more for the pump..or may not have gotten the one that was best for my situation. He bought a high quality, reasonably priced pump and installed it. Quieter than ever...and my pool cleaner is scurrying around the pool floor like a sprinter. I had to turn down the flow on my pool cleaner so I didn't wear it out! AGAIN..excellent work. Two jobs in less than 2 weeks..all performed perfectly and at a very reasonable price! read more

I called Earl because of a referral. We set up an appointment. Got a call 2 hours after the appointment hour had passed saying that the crew was delayed because of an especially difficult situation. I understand those things. He said he could come over after he was done. He never came. No phone call either. I wrote him off. The next day, the neighbor who recommended him asked me to call him to see what happened. I called and talked to the dad. He said he would call David to see what happened and would call me right back. Never did. It's a week now and I'm still looking for someone reliable to fix my sprinkler problem but I couldn't pass up this chance to tell folks to have a plan B if they're going to call. Earl may have lots of experience with wells but I get the feeling something is not quite right in the background. Lost a day waiting. read more

Earl came to the house and stated I needed new well points. I agreed and signed the contract. The work was done. A year later my well is worse then when he first arrived. After looking at my sales slip I noticed he did not drill new well points but just cleaned them. He charged me the same amount for cleaning them as to drill new ones. No help from him at all. On March 19, 2016 I signed a contract with Ear Pruitt. They came out promptly on the 4/18/16, loaded, my yard with heavy equipment, dug a pit leaving a huge pile of dirt on my shrubbery and bark. After promising the well would be finished in about five days, it was not finished until 5/19/16. They left dirt all over my plants and bark, left a hug barren spot in my sod, and a sunken pit where they had replaced the dirt. My garden service said it would be at least $500 to repair the damage.They also charged me for a spigot and installed it, neglecting to tell me it would only work when the sprinklers were on. A retention tank will cost me an extra $1000. I left messages on Mr. Pruitt's voice mail, talked to him several times and he assured me that workers would be out promptly. This almost never happened. When workers did come, they would arrive at 11 AM and leave around 2 PM. My yard was full of equipment and dirt for a month. I couldn't reach my regular garden hose to water because the yard was roped off and the dirt and equipment was everywhere. After they said that work was complete and they left, I turned on my sprinklers and two pipes broke immediately causing soil erosion and more damage. I hired someone else whom I trusted to repair the pipes. It was a constant nightmare for a month. Mr. Pruitt was rude and used fowl language when talking to me. I have had many workmen and contractors over the years. The work has always been satisfactory and their manner was also polite and helpful. Sadly this was not the case with Mr. Pruitt. I give him an "F" in every category. read more
