Kurilla was contracted by our city to improve our drain tile system in October of 2024, and to…read morecomplete their work in early spring of 2025 after winter. I spoke with one of their representatives in September 2024 to ensure my existing underground sump tie in would not be impacted by this work. I was assured that all existing tie ins would not be impacted. Flash forward to April (when my sump system was finally needed after the winter thaw and begins moving water) my yard begins to flood at the storm sewer tie in directly next to the work completed by Kurilla... We discover that the underground 3" PVC tie in was cracked and damaged, so I contact Kurilla to inspect this on April 8th. I was told a representative would come out to inspect this the following week. (This did not happen). I was also told during this call that the grading and grass seeding portion of the project still needed to be done, and I could also connect with them then. That same representative no longer responded to my inquiries, and I managed to intercept a gentleman during the landscaping portion of this project on-site to explain the situation. That gentleman takes down my address and states they will have their leadership follow- up with me... Again, crickets. I reach out a final time on April 25th, to no response again. I have since then had numerous quotes from other companies to repair this damage, ranging from $1,325-$2,500. During these estimates every company has stated one common thing.... The area surrounding the damaged tie in was recently filled in with new sand similar to the drain tile, while the soil composition in my area and yard is all clay.... The area was absolutely disturbed, and the damage was covered with sand filler during the project which then washed away and flooded out into my yard in the spring after my sump system ran enough to expose the issue that was previously hidden underground. I understand that mistakes happen. However, the location of the damage and competitors assessments strongly suggest that the damage occurred during the work Kurilla performed. Their lack of communication, professionalism, or follow-up is why I would highly recommend never using them for any type of work.

We stopped and waited for traffic to clear. Both of us paying attention to traffic as she was goi g to make a right turn into Territorial Rd. To head towards St. Michael. We saw one of Omann (now pronounced "Oh man!") Big Bright Red Dump trucks coming. It was at least a 1/4 mile away. My daughter turned and accelerated to the speed limit of 50mph. I always pay attention to everything happening around as we are learning to Drive, it was at this time I noticed that the large red truck was approaching us very rapidly. I estimate their speed to be between 70 and 75 mph. They did not slow down. Instead, they came within one car length of our rear bumper. I instructed my daughter to maintain the speed limit not to slow down or speed up. She was pretty freaked out having this giant vehicle behind her getting closer and closer the driver of the truck was driving very aggressively, we crossed the bridge over the crow river and my daughter decided she would make a left to get out of the way using her signal and doing so the truck nearly hit the back of our vehicle, honked his horn and proceeded. At this point, I had a choice I could call the police, or I could contact the company and try to see whether or not this is the kind of thing that the ownership was supportive of. I called and received a very pleasant young lady, who then transferred me to Jessica Becktold. I informed Jessica that I had pictures. She gave me her cell phone number so that I could send pictures to her to identify the driver and speak with him. I asked that she procure an apology from him and to call me back. She said she would. No call came the rest of that day.(we called about 12:45) nor did she call back the next day. Only upon the third day when I left a message stating that I must have chosen the wrong course of action did I get a call from Jessica. She claimed that she first lost my number, and then said she had been too busy to get back to me. I found this odd since I had texted her the pictures and left two messages in the preceding two days with my telephone number. However, my frustration was increased when she claimed that the driver accused my daughter of either being on the cell phone or falling asleep, or possibly under the influence of something. He claimed she crossed the fog line. Jessica agreed that this is appropriate behavior to tailgate speed in a 1010 vehicle and to honk horn's at useful drivers when one doesn't get one's way. Essentially there was no apology. I also believe that had I not been tenacious and calling back that Jessica would've simply never called me or dealt with it whatsoever so if you want to support a business that has maniacs, driving 10 ton vehicles and doesn't care about it, by all means, engage their services. However, I would read the other one star review as it seems like they have other problems beyond garbage drivers. What is the driver on something? Never know.

I'm pretty incompetent when it comes to doing stuff like this. I found Hoss Plumbing on the internet and thought I'd give the small, local business guys a try instead of the big guys who hire a bunch of contractors who don't feel any personal responsibility for their work. They did a great job, quick response and professional demeanor. Their price was extremely fair. Two brothers own the business, and they serve the western TC suburbs and Minneapolis. They are licensed and insured. Most recently (June, 2018), I needed a new cartridge in my kitchen sink, some leaking taps tightened up, and I also wanted them to install a new water softener. They gave me a price for a softener, including installation, haul-away, etc. After shopping the internet, I found a shop that would install for a couple hundred dollars less. I emailed Hoss and they said they would match the price. Additionally, they installed a higher quality appliance (I researched it). While they were at it, they cleaned out the basement floor drain and several other traps in the house. No extra charge. Again, their overall prices were so very good. Both brothers were here (Hollis and Ben), and they were both so very professional in how they worked. This is the first review of their business on Yelp, and I hope other folks will talk to them when they need some plumbing work done. Business is so competitive these days, and I would like to help the really great ones do well. These guys shine!
