Was in the mood for some southern, "home-cooked" food (comfort food) and this place can to mind. We were not disappointed. I ordered chicken and dumplings, black eyed peas, cabbage; my daughter had smothered hamburger steak, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes; my husband had fried chicken, cabbage, and squash. The staff was very nice/pleasant, and the food was great! We will definitely plan to visit again!!!

Clean, modern and classy decor with southern hospitality to match. Everyone was extremely professional, but 'Blessed' served me two days in a row and stood out with exceptional service. Closest you're going to get to grandmas cooking. No filler. No preservatives. Just great southern food at a fair price. My son is a freshman at FAMU, so this restaurant will be a staple for the next 4yrs!

Really loved the upscale remake! We have been coming here for years to the cafeteria style lunch. Had no idea that a brunch was the new feature for the weekend and a full service dinner menu in the evening! We enjoyed brunch so much we came back for dinner the same day! The menu items include both traditional and creative thoughtfully prepared offerings that are delicious and attracted plated. The decor is classy and modern with the addition of a very nice bar and sport spectator area. For brunch I had the half fried chicken which includes 4 pieces separately fried. I had collard greens which were fresh but just okay flavor wise, but I really enjoyed the roasted carrots! My aunt had a pork chop sandwich which came with delicious home fries! My uncle had fried fish and grits with scrambled eggs and biscuit. The seasoning and crust on the fried items was perfect! When we returned for dinner, we enjoyed the unique appetizer....boiled peanut and neckbone boil. I enjoyed the vegan black eyed pea soup. It was classic comfort food, I had the chef add in some collards and it was delicious! Also enjoyed the BBQ shrimp even though I was expecting it to be a little more wet. I did not get to taste the gumbo or the smothered fried shrimp and grits but I saw some clean plates-lol. The staff is super friendly and attentive and it's very clean. Looking forward to our next visit!

Eh. After reading so many rave reviews I was expecting something special. I don't know if it's bc it was mid-morning Monday but it was dead in there. The multiple staff on the floor completely ignored us until we asked them how the place worked. Made it clear it was our first time in & we didn't know the system. It's a buffet style, put it in a box for you breakfast, pre-cooked. I didn't see this anywhere in the website & was expecting a sit-down restaurant w wait staff. Wet, runny powdered eggs are the only egg option so it wasn't a good start. The huge sausage was delicious & is the sole reason for both stars, the potatoes & biscuit were just ok. The woman who plated the food was the only person who semi-acknowledged our presence. When I ordered coffee at the register the person by the coffee have a big dramatic sigh like I had asked for a table for 14. They made it very clear that we were not welcome & everyone working there wished we would not have come in. It was not a good experience.

Monday Special.... yes please!!! Several choices of meat, lots of side choices & your choice of hoe cakes, corn bread or corn biscuits. The beef in the stew was so tender & hands down, perfect fried chicken! No room for desserts of the day (key lime cake, red velvet cake & they put out a banana nut zucchini bread as we were leaving) but they looked tasty!! This was our 1st visit but my husband was already planning another visit for more beef stew! I'll get the oxtails next time! As an aside, it's got a great ambiance inside, the staff is pleasant, and the sweet tea is sweet. Definitely a place to try if you haven't!!

The food reminded me of home, and that's saying a lot. Food service was equal parts quality and quantity. This was definitely worth more than the cost and I would come back again.

Yesterday was my first time visiting Earley's and I can't believe I haven't found this place earlier. Food was absolutely amazing, the service was quick and everything was cheap. The environment in the restaurant is modern and super clean. The staff was extremely nice and wore their masks the entire time. They had all the condiments and extras you need organized for you. The value for the amount of food you get is CRAZY! I loved everything I got, especially the peach cobbler.

The food was awful. I ordered oxtails, macaroni and cheese, and greens. The cornbread was dry and bitter. The greens tasted burnt and sour. The Mac and cheese was overcooked, mushy, and had no cheese inside, only a small amount on the top, definitely an egg based Mac. The oxtails were mostly fat, the top oxtail was dry and tough. However, the oxtail gravy was great. It wasn't salty, and had good flavor. I've heard wonderful things about Earley's food but my experience wasn't good. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. If you happen to stop by, I suggest ordering the chicken. I didn't try it, but it looked good.

Adams Street is a quiet street on this particular Saturday morning around 9:15 am. But inside the restaurant, there is a flurry of activity behind the counter, the aroma of breakfast makes us smile when we enter and there is a line that stretches to the door. Folks are waiting. Few dine in and most are carrying out several to go boxes per person. The prices are reasonable and for the portion size, I would say budget-minded. Get the Olean's omelette. It's generously sized and enough for 3 meals. It looks nothing like a traditional omelette. It reads more like a breakfast casserole. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, veggies and cheese. It's comfort food on a plate. I am so sorry I didn't take a photo to share. I highly recommend this meal option! My dining companion ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and plain grits. My dining companion stated they were the best restaurant grits they'd ever eaten. The bacon was piled high on his plate! He took 1/2 this meal home. Mrs. Olean is behind the counter and just as personable as can be. She sets the tone for hospitality and it shows with her courteous staff. There was ample parking. The dining room is small, probably 10 tables in all. Most seem to be taking bags with their to go containers. Few people leave with one container. We will certainly return for some of their lunch options next.

On today I ordered the catfish tacos and collard greens with the turkey. The meal was great. The catfish was lightly fried and the sauce on it was amazing. During Sunday brunch, we were seated quickly, even without reservations, even while it was very busy. There were lots of people ~ the venue is cute and quaint... my friend, however, was stuck on the paint chips and holes in the wall. The food was great. I got fried deviled eggs (yummy), fried catfish, red velvet waffles, eggs and corned beef hash. The catfish was extremely fresh. The red velvet cupcakes came with a cream cheese sauce that tasted more like Krispy Kreme donut glaze or just a sugary sauce. I wish it had more of a cream cheese flavor. I wasn't pleased with it. The corn beef hash was good. My friend got the chicken and pancakes. The chicken was delicious, perfectly fried. The customer service was great ~ warm, attentive, inviting, quick, and well managed to be so busy. Jordan, our server, was amazing! The ambience and crowd were nice, diverse. Unfortunately, the speaker wasn't working properly so initially it was incredibly, awkwardly quiet. When the speaker did start working, it sounded busted. Hope you enjoy if you ever go visit.

**Review: Solid Steak Dinner at The Edison**…read more I had a pleasant dinner at The Edison recently and walked away satisfied, especially with the food. Service was just okay--nothing terrible, but the appetizers definitely took longer than expected to come out. That said, our server was genuinely good: friendly, knowledgeable, and checked on us at the right moments without being overbearing. The appetizers were worth the wait. Both the fried green tomatoes and the crab appetizer were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and nicely executed. For the main course, the steak was spot-on: tender, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly as ordered. The potatoes that came with it were also really good--creamy and tasty without being heavy. We ended the meal with the bread pudding, and it was one of the best parts of the night. It was done perfectly: warm, moist, and full of rich, comforting flavor that didn't feel overly sweet. All in all, The Edison delivers on the food front. If you're after a reliable steak with some standout starters and a strong dessert, it's a solid choice. Ambiance was good, love the historic building. I'll definitely be back for the steak and bread pudding. Recommended!

The food was well-prepared and flavorful, with a menu that balances classic favorites and creative options. Portions were satisfying, and presentation was thoughtful. The space has a lively yet comfortable vibe, making it a great place for both casual meals and social outings. Service was friendly and attentive, though it slowed a little during peak times. Overall, The Edison is a solid choice for good food, drinks, and ambiance. With slightly faster service during busy hours, it could easily earn a full five stars
