We were driving around Tallahassee looking for a unique local place to stop for lunch when we happened upon Midtown Caboose. The exterior was interesting and we didn't even think it was a restaurant at first but it looked intriguing so we stopped. Parking was tight and the lot was full but we managed to snag the last spot. We had our pup with us and did not see any outdoor seating so we decided to make an order for pick up. The menu was overwhelming. They had so many unique things on offer it was hard to decide so we each ordered a lunch and we got an appetizer to share. We ordered the pulled pork wontons to start and I had to order the caboose blt because I am a sucker for fried green tomatoes and sourdough bread. I ordered the hushpuppies on the side as well. My husband had the Liberty Bell burger because he loves a Philly Cheesesteak and was excited to try their play one one and he ordered his with tots on the side. It came to $55 for all that before tip. When my husband went inside to pick up the food they had just finished bagging it and handed it off to him, however when we opened the food a bit later, there were no napkins or utensils inside at all. We had to eat the entire meal with our hands. That was ok for some of the food but the wontons/eggrolls and sauce proved a bit more difficult and I don't particularly care to eat greasy food with my hands, especially without napkins. Things like that matter to the customer. The food was ok. My hush puppies look burnt in the picture but they tasted just fine and the blt was...well, a blt. It was a bit dry and you couldn't really tell they tomatoes were fried. My husband said his food was fine as well. The wontons were supposed to have been "award winning" but they were a little strange and the sauce was sour and not to our liking. For all the unique menu ideas, the actual presentation fell flat, especially at the price point. It wasn't terrible but it just wasn't that good either.

The burger and cinnamon sweet potato fries were delicious!!! This restaurant made me reconsider saying Tallahassee had no good restaurants.

We stopped in with the family to get something to eat. The atmosphere was cozy. The staff was very attentive. I got a cheeseburger patty melt with chopped cheddar cheese and order of fries. The burger was good. I liked it on the sourdough bread. My wife got a salad with grilled chicken. She said the greens were very fresh and the chicken was cooked to perfection.

It's the concept and unique curb appeal that made me stop. It was in the mode to be wowed by a boutique eatery. Entering the restaurant the hostess was very nice and accommodating. The seating was tight. I could reach out and touch my neighbor. The chair seat was hard, like no cushion at all. I ordered the Georgia Peach Tea - it's priced above $10 but tasted like water; the Runaway Train with Turkey, I wasn't a fan; and sweet potato fries- mediocre It just wasn't what I was expecting.

My friend and I were visiting Tallahassee and found this restaurant on Yelp. We showed up about 45 minutes before closing but didn't feel rushed. There were so many burgers and items to choose from. My friend had a soup/salad combo and she loved the soup. The salad was huge (could only imagine what the regular size looks like). I had the gator hater burger. It was AMAZING! I had a side of Mac & cheese...also very good. Service was super friendly and nice. This place is on my list to go to next time I am up there!

We were driving from Jacksonville to Panama City Beach and decided to stop here for lunch today. It was a great decision. We arrived right around eleven and it's a good thing we did because by the time we left the parking lot was completely full. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads, sandwiches , and more than enough burgers with plenty of unique names and ingredients. I went with the Gator Hater burger. It came with cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and bacon on toasted sourdough bread. It was a good size burger and very tasty. My husband had the Italian Stallion burger. It came with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. He loved it. Sides included french fries, tater tots, green beans, cole slaw or fruit. Service was friendly.

I've been here several times throughout the last 10 years (as well as their previous location) and they've always been incredibly consistent. Our waitress, Kayla, was amazing. Super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable on all of the menu items. My greek squad wrap was flavor forward, which is always great to experience when eating a vegetarian meal! The hushpuppies were hot and the portions are generous. The table also ordered the triple play, gater hater, the oh canada burger, and meatball sub. Every item was well loved and there isn't much on the menu that I wouldn't try. Definitely a staple to Tallahassee culture!

Food was amazing. Had the wontons and goat cheese for appetizer and the PB&J burger for dinner. We had a wonderful waitress and I want to try every item on the menu. I honestly might come back tomorrow.

I loved the rudy especially the pickle taste it had. The Mac Daddy was pretty good too I wish it had a little more bacon. The service was quick though, wide variety of sauces to choose from, but do cost extra, just under $1, but something to keep in mind.

In town for business and decided to stop by. Ordered the PB&J burger with sweet potato fries and decided to try the pulled pork wontons. The PB&J burger is not something I would typically go for but read on the reviews it was the best selling burger so I gave it a try. You can choose the jam for your burger with choices of blueberry, strawberry, or grape. I ordered blueberry. First bite I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Second bite it hooked me. You can taste the juicy burger with the sweetness of the peanut butter, then comes the crunch of the bacon, and lastly the sweetness from the blueberry jam. Wow! I'm impressed. This burger may not sound great but it truly is something special. Give this one a shot and you won't regret it. Now after giving the burger so much praise I'll share that the sweet potato fries are also very good. I could only eat a few due to the burger being so filling though. Lastly, I decided to try the pulled pork wontons as I hadn't eaten all day. Yep you know the feeling right? You're eyes are bigger than your stomach lol. I learned my lesson. Now these are basically pulled pork egg roles. They were very greasy so I could only eat one and they come with 5. I personally wouldn't order these again but that's just me. Overall the burger and fries are well worth the visit. Stop by this place on your next visit to Tally or if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

They run a promotion where if you sit at the bar, your meal is half-off. Unfortunately, we were 4 people with a 9-month-old so bar seating was not in the cards for us. We walked up to counter and placed our order. 3 burgers, a chicken sandwich, two small bowls of fries and two small side salads. After tip, it was $96. I've had less expensive sit-down dinners with top-notch service for that price. Our food was brought out to us not too long after we ordered. I will say the food was good. I ordered a double cheeseburger. It was comically large and nearly impossible to eat. The patties were thick and the beef was fresh and savory. I did the build-your-own. Mine had pickles, lettuce, tomato and cheese. The fries were ok. We got the parmesan truffle fries. They had the slight earthy taste of truffle and dusted with parmesan. The side salads were good. The kale was fresh and crunchy, it had a light vinaigrette on it that didn't weigh down the salad and complimented the bits of tomato and carrot. In the end, we enjoyed the meal but couldn't get past the price tag. If there is a next time, we will pop our 9-month-old in her car seat at the bar to get this food at a reasonable price.

The best I can describe it, is that it has a retro-craft feel. I really dig it. Food comes out quick and is excellent. Bar tender and staff is friendly and chill. You can taste the cooking oil is kept clean, and is changed often by the fries and the smell. You can taste the food is made to order with real food. They also have cool events all the time. Like a poker night, and trivia night. I think the poker nights are Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm and 8pm. It's a little hard to find, tucked behind another building, just off the main road. Carful parking the little lot in the back, they have a massive pot-hole thing... just go real slow. Always seem to meet the most interesting people there. Nelson's Burger Bar is the "misfit island of toys" of the burger scene. Infact "scene" is exactly the right word to describe it. This place is a total trip. How can you tell if you are going to have a bad experience at a restaurant in the South?…read more There will be some signs I will share with you based on my recent visit to Big Randy's. Sign #1: Sweet tea brought to you is from a soda fountain and not fresh-brewed. Making fresh-brewed sweet tea does not cost much. The waitress admitted it to me. I cannot tell you how many times I have had an awful sweet tea from the tab and the the rest of the experience has gone downhill more times than stabilizing the sail. Sign #2: Buying ranch to go with your wings instead of at least being given an obligatory one. Wait...it gets worse...paying for a pre-packaged Ken's Ranch...not Ranch made in-house. Sign #3: BBQ sauce on your wings is Sweet Baby Ray's bought from the grocery store. That is what my wife received and I probably had Sweet Baby Ray's Gold on my overcooked wings. Sign #4: I haven't met many French fries I wouldn't eat but Big Randy's tested me. I couldn't eat them. They were like McDonald's fries except way too salty. My wife's fries had no salt. The only saving grace from a 1-star is at least they made my wings extra wet like I asked and the service was fine. That's how you earn a 2-star. Note: the fried pickles had more of a corn nugget batter and the floor was also very sticky.
