The excitement with which my child talks about the day's work, and the enthusiasm for learning that has been instilled, are very encouraging. I truly appreciate the Montessori approach, especially the practical life aspect, which has positively shaped my child's day-to-day habits. I'm also grateful for school's effort to educate parents on the Montessori philosophy and methods, as there is a lot that I have been able to incorporate into my home life with positive results for my family. The teachers were continually patient and understanding with my child, who had long stretches of regularly getting upset during the drop-off time. I would highly recommend Auburn's House to any parent!

When beginning to plan our move from VA to CA, finding a non-traditional school was important to…read moreus. Our daughter had been in a traditional classroom preschool setting which included circle time, small group work, and play time. What we started to realize is that she was developing a dislike for learning. She would fuss and not want to stay if we ever arrived at school during circle time or small groups. As an educator and PhD candidate studying Education this really bothered me. Knowing about the Montessori method, I began to search for this curriculum as I felt it might be a better fit for my child. I found Auburn's House and have been so pleased. My daughter is excited to go to school again, and loves to tell us everything she is learning! At school, our daughter is taught in a manner that develops the whole-child. This is very important as we want her to be well-rounded and have a variety of interests. In addition, the school supports the emotional and social aspects of the child that is void in most other settings. This gives her the ability to become an independent learner and explore the world around her. The special attention to the emotional and social skills has turned our quiet and somewhat shy child into a confident and independent child. While we could go on for pages about the benefits of this type of education, especially for preschool age children, the best way to get an idea of what an AMAZING place this school is for children is to visit and watch the interactions between the students and the teachers. It is truly something I never could have imagined after my years in education. Ms. Auburn has a gift, and we have been so lucky to be able to reap the benefits of her gift. Each child is an individual and Ms. Auburn appreciates this and helps each individual to grow on his/her own path. This is so important to us as parents, and to me as an educator. I could not have chosen a better place for my child!

I searched interviewed, and visited the various childcare facilities in the Monterey county area and was disappointed and frightened at some. She was very responsive and scheduled us to come and see her residence after all of the children were home. This told me that she took measures to keep the kids safe. While inside her residence her and her Family made me feel very welcome, gave me a packet of their curriculum, the schedule and gave me a background update about the years she's been working with children. She gave me all the information I needed to make a decision that same day but also insisted I go and do some more research to just verify that she was the right fit. And she was! Our daughter started her program the very next day and has been with her up until this year. Every day my daughter came home happy and told me all about the fun things they did throughout the day including learning the ABC's drawing math, reading books, playing in the outside play structures, making friends, naptime and puzzles. Whenever there was a misunderstanding with another student Marina was always available to answer my questions either via text or call or in person. Marina always made time to give me an update about my child's day which I very much appreciated as I know she was busy. Marina also is very responsible and was able to pick up and drop off most of the kids there and while she did not personally drive or take my daughter I knew that her and her staff that help her very responsible and communicative with all the parents whose children they were looking after. If you have children and want them in the best possible care in the Monterey County area my family and I highly recommend Marina because she takes care of all the kids as if they were her family.

Our oldest boy was at MBCS from kindergarten thru 8th grade and was well prepared for high school…read more Our younger, 4 years later, also was at MBCS from kindergarten thru 8th grade. Both graduated at top of their classes. MBCS had about 15 in older son's 8th grade class and younger son's graduating 8th grade class had about 4 due to some staff changes that parents did not like. The education was still good and MBCS dealt with small class size (something the public schools complain about) by combining some grades. Which was not us parents' preference, but it worked. After all, the USA somehow survived long ago in the "one room school house" days of combined grades. It worked and our younger son graduated and went on to MVCS in Watsonville, like his older brother which was an academic kick butt school at least until his senior year when new leadership made changes the staff and students did not like ("IB" etc) and lost experienced teachers. MBCS is affordable at around $7,000 a year. Classes small. Teachers dedicated. They try hard for a small Christian school. And teach both academics for high school prep and good citizenship (Bible teachings) though one does not have to be a professed Christian to attend. Older son went on to MVCS (Watsonville) and was a top student and got a merit scholarship and then on to U.C.Davis which was good on classes but totally sucked at helping him get into a grad school. Davis did nothing to help. Happily older son made a friend of one professor who helped him get accepted into a good grad school in PA, Marywood University (Catholic) where I think she was alumni, and where he did well, got a job in his major and now works full time and is happy with everything but the weather (hot summers, cold winters...not Monterey, CA weather for sure!) It took a lot of effort to even get older son's diploma out of U.C.Davis...huge school, huge classes, huge graduation and so next to nothing in support timeliness and help. Plus did forced "get covid shots or get kicked out" right before classes started so no time to change schools. Younger was a top student at MBCS (the small, mixed grades classes did not hurt...maybe helped with so much individualized teacher/student attention), and then became a top student at MVCS and when applying for college, applied about a dozen schools and was accepted by all. He went to Simpson University in Redding, did well. Good teachers, ho hum counseling dept. A modest sized Christian college where he did well. Worst was 4 in a dorm room for Freshmen, after that he got double rooms with a friend as RA (dorm resident assistant. RA was a good deal...got 1/2 price on cafeteria and free room in dorm as I recall. Plus a $20,000 academic scholarship per year for 4 years. Which was nice for a $50k/year private college (tuition, books/fees, dorm, meals). Then he applied to grad schools, where all but SFSU (San Francisco) the last college I attended, accepted him and is now at Sacramento State University in a very tough doctoral grad program that makes him glad his previous schools were academically intense. So two kids, one now working for a couple hospitals (one full time and one part time) and one a top student due to intense hard work with a heavy, exhausting medical-related academic load, both got their start to successes at MBCS. A small, humble, caring K-8th Seaside, CA Christian school where they began. So yes, I like MBCS because it started out two kids out to a path to successes. And our young niece there is happy. Has friends and likes the teachers. Where could MBCS do better? It could send graded quizzes, tests, etc home each Friday so parents could get weekly "how their kid is doing?" feedback. I think that would be a very helpful idea. Weekly academics feedback instead of less frequent parent/teacher conferences. RH

The principal they have now is amazing and a visionary. The academics for the younger grades (can't speak for older yet) have been great and challenging. Jesus is palpable on campus and everything they do from curriculum to leadership to discipline is through a Biblical world view. Everyone knows every students' name. They are extremely family oriented and all of the staff looks at the whole child before they see them as a student. The class sizes are small and the teachers really learn and work with the individual needs of the students and communicate so well with parents. The students are so well loved and cared for. It's a small but mighty and sweet school!

Kids get incredible personal attention and teaching according to their individual needs and strengths. They do drawing, painting, gardening, cooking, music, crafts, feeding animals, cleaning, and more. It is incredible for the children. Classical music is played during working sessions to enhance little growing minds. Sofia recently earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Education and is a leading expert in early childhood learning and teaching. She is extremely talented and the kids LOVE her (my daughter calls her Momma Sofia). Another great thing about Golden Childhood Days is that they check in via text or email multiple times per day with a short video of what our daughter is working on. I can't begin to explain how great it is to see these little video clips come in while I'm working and I get to see what my daughter is up to. It was especially reassuring when she first started going there. They will usually send a little video when she learns something new or to show what food she's eating. And the food! It is worth it to send your child to Golden Childhood for the food alone. All organic, locally sourced, ultra-healthy and hearty meals cooked by hand five times a day! I honestly could not believe it. My daughter loves the food and always says it's "yummy!" Uh, what else... The facility is secure; a big metal gate and fence surround the property and no unannounced guests or strangers are ever allowed on the grounds. The neighborhood is good. The staff are trained in emergency first aid, but they know how to avoid accidents and injuries. They will work with you on a schedule that fits your needs. The cost is in the higher range but absolutely worth it. I can't say enough good things about this school. If you are lucky enough to be able to send your child, you absolutely should! Your child will thrive here.

Our previous daycare center got closed, so we needed to find a new provider in a short period of time. It was our first experience with home daycare so we didn't know what to expect. But Sofia (care provider) exceeded all our expectations. Convenient schedule, constant communication over the phone (she sends us videos daily), homemade meals with organic milk and products every two hours, different activities for the kids every day. Sofia speaks Russian to my baby (we have bilingual household) and created "dacha" (summer house) experience for my daughter where she is able to feed bunny and chickens, play outside, help with gardening, etc. Sofia has a PhD in early childhood development and always gives useful advices about our kid's milestones, behavior patterns, as well as helps with potty training. She feels a lot more like extension of the family, and I highly recommend "Golden Childhood Days" daycare.

I am now graduating 8th grade here in 11 days and the school has gone to crap. I personally think this school is only supposed to be a elementary school and they shouldn't have a middle school. A lot of the times, they ask for donations a lot but they don't use the money for anything good. They don't have enough jerseys for the kids and the P.E equipment really needs a update. I think they should use what they have on things that need help like the bathrooms. The bathroom are definitely not built for middle schoolers. The sinks are very low and they mirrors are super tiny. I definitely think this school needs some TLC.
