We could have had an excellent experience had we not been assigned the worst waitress in the Midwest "Anna". When we got to our booth we first had to work our way around Anna's elbow. She was leaning on the back of our booth telling the neighboring couple her complete life story. After several minutes she finally glanced at us and said "I'll be with you folks in a few minutes". The owner finally came out and poured us some water. My wife watched him admonish her. Anna then poured us our coffee even though we told her we only wanted water. She then left our food to dry out nicely so she could do who knows what. The rest of the staff is excellent but Anna needs to go. I enjoyed my black been burrito but my wife's oatmeal and biscuit suffered due to Anna's neglect. read more

My service was terrible we waited 1 hour to get seated then 30 minutes to get our order taken as we watched our server stand around or take care of other people who were seated after us and then he didn't even bring out things we asked for like boxes i always had to ask another server to get taken care of and then they upcharged our meal because we did the math and didn't order $30 of food but only $23 and wouldn't even provide an itemized receipt for us to look at. read more

This is my first time at this location, and the server was less than exceptional. She messed up my order twice, which is understandable, but she was rude when I asked for it to be fixed, and I overheard her talking about me in the back for doing so. Waffles, muffins and skillets... OH MY! My favorite breakfast spot in the Little Apple. Despite the opening of IHOP in this small town, Early Edition looks this competitor in the eye and says "BRING IT ON, SUCKA!" They have THE best lemon poppy muffins and you have to try their West Coast Skillet! A skillet of potatoes, eggs, AVOCADO... need I say more?! There's probably more on it, but the avocado takes the cake for me! Their belgian waffles are always delicious and cooked to perfection. Slight crisp on the outside and chewy and warm on the inside. Service is always great here, but it can get really busy, especially on Sunday mornings! So I suggest to camp outside Saturday night, and be first in line for a table the next morning! Wow, the earlier reviewers were on it...major lines on a Sunday morning. That and the staff was very friendly. If you're looking for freshly squeezed orange juice with extra pulp...this ain't your place. Adhana T and I hit it up late Sunday morning and we had quite a wait, but no worries, plenty of newspapers to read and good conversation to be had. When we finally did get seated the service was prompt and efficient. I had the big Belgian waffle with fruit extravaganza, and I believe she had the French toast. The fruit on each f our meals was nice, heavy on the citrus and strawberries and devoid of melon which was great! The waffle was good, nothing extraordinary, standard waffle batter. I am not sure if it was the batter or the bread but I preferred the small taste of the French toast that I was afforded to the waffle. Plus: the sausage links were really nice. We arrived a few minutes after 10:0AM about mid-May. This is a large restaurant with lots of tables and booths. There was a small number of people in the main dining room at this time and one large group of ten in a separate room. Shortly after we arrived, another 10 to 12 people arrived. It was Seat Yourself so we found a clean booth that was large enough to seat 6 to 8 people even though there were only 2 of us. We waited about 5 minutes before out waitress saw us at the booth. She apologized for making us wait. And gave us lots of attention during the rest of our visit. We both ordered the Skillet Scramble which includes 2 eggs scrambled over a bed of fried potatoes, crumbled bacon, sausage, onions and shredded cheese, all covered with sausage gravy. The plate included an English muffin. O, My, this was good. Very large portion. I couldn't eat the whole thing. I think we will return to try another breakfast, maybe something with pancakes. The first time I stepped into the place, it made me think of a hospital cafeteria, from the lighting, to the paint and the seats, which can be a good thing because it gives this impression of the place being clean. I think it is, quite. The servers were always friendly and quite attentive. I've tried a lot of the things on the menu (because I've gone back a couple of times already.) The only thing I won't order again is any of the egg dishes with spinach but that has got nothing to do with the cook. It's just that when I eat spinach with egg, there's always some bits of spinach that gets stuck on the roof of my mouth and later my mouth would feel dry. The food here is GREAT!!! They are always happy about making sure that they serve food according to your orders. Every now and then, they might 'slip' a bit, but it would still be good. I mostly like to order their breakfast on skillet dish. Next time, I might ask them to sautee the veggies before putting in the egg, though. Stopped in for breakfast and enjoyed the Cat Backer. Meat, potatoes, and eggs. Good combo and lots of flavor. Not the best breakfast I've had but A-OK for sure. If you are in the area and need a non-fast food breakfast this place is pretty good. Place is big but sees a lot of traffic. You may have to wait for a seat but the place is staffed to the 9s. Overall a very affordable, but underwhelming experience. I've been to both Early Editions anywhere between 3-6 times each and to their credit they are consistent. I will admit I have only done their breakfast menu and haven't ventured into their sandwiches and non-breakfast cuisine. Perhaps I'm missing out, but that decision has largely been impacted by my underwhelming breakfast visits and Manhattan plethora of solid lunch spots. The wait staff is friendly and fairly responsive and the food comes fairly quick. Unfortunately, the food quality isn't quite on par with your standard "home cooking" breakfast cafe that are littered throughout the midwest. Also, the atmosphere is definitely a little sketchy for being in a medium sized market like Manhattan. The Fort Riley Blvd location is definitely the cleanest and most attractive or the two, but both feel like "your father-in-law who proudly wears cargo shorts, flip-flops w/ black socks, and his favorite bowling shirt to a wedding and has done a little construction and design on the side" was used to create the spaces. No clear atmosphere. I'm guessing their aiming for the "homey-vibe" but it winds up feeling too sterile. Don't get me wrong. For the price, it's not a half bad place to grab some French Toast or an omelette. The food is served fairly fresh and as I stated before the wait staff is very pleasant and really takes care of you. The food feels like maybe just a notch above what I would do in my own kitchen. Most items containing a fruit topping receive an odd fruit cocktail type covering that fails to give the dish a distinct flavor. The crepes are a disaster as I discovered on my latest visit. The waffles and pancakes best fall under the category of "meh". The omelettes and classic American breakfast items(bacon, eggs, sausage, etc) are where they shine. The breakfast meat has always been a great experience with flavor and proper crisp. It's tough to screw up eggs and their made to order eggs and omelettes confirm that. They're solid, well-cooked meals, but do lack much inspiration in their creation. I'm sure I'll be back plenty of times because as I said: for the price, it's not bad food if you know where to steer on the menu. Then again... My grandfather loves the place so much he drives 35 miles 2x a week to eat it, so don't let a single Yelp review steer you away. :) read more

Upon entering there's your choice of newspapers to take to your table. When you get there there's a carafe of ice water on a plate waiting for you. Nice. Our server was incredibly attentive. I couldn't even turn around to check what time it was without her noticing and coming by to see if we needed anything. I have very specific food restrictions (gluten free lacto-ovo vegetarian) but she was very patient and helpful and I got a custom omelette that was very good. Portion size is average, and though prices are a bit high for what you get, it was good all around. My wife's chicken fried steak was an actual whole cut of steak with no ground-up anything in it, and she rated it as very good. Aside from some artsy photographs on the walls, there's little to no atmosphere, but it's spacious, clean and fresh looking. Wooden chairs were a little wobbly, and I saw that the booth seats are solid wood; no cushioning, but folks seemed comfortable. At some places I feel like we're getting pushed through in a hurry, but this place doesn't do that. You can eat, chat, and relax. My main gripe about theirs was that the eggs were over cooked- how can you have eggs benedict without a runny yolk! I just feel like that is a no-no. A first timer today and I was very happy. Service was great and the meal was fantastic. I had the California omelette with a side of Sourdough French toast. I was not really a fan of the french toast but that wasn't the restaurants fault. I just was expecting something sweeter and the sour dough just didn't do it for me. Bottom Line Up Front: If you're an eggs benedict fan, try the potato eggs benedict. Spacious set up. Good service. Arrived around 10 am on Saturday. It was busy but no wait for a party of 4 or less. We initially wanted to try The Chef but after reading reviews, dealing with the wait was not worth it. The dining area was very spacious and open. No frills decor. All the workers wore purple polo's, of course, I will eventually get use to all the purple here, maybe. Anyways, I ordered the potato eggs benedict and coffee. The coffee was okay, it was warm, not hot. The food came out fairly quick. The cook initially forgot to add the hollandaise sauce but it was brought out after our food got dropped off. Worked out for the better since most places go overboard on the hollandaise. The dish consisted of two poached eggs over tomatoes, avocados, and a bed of diced potatoes. There were two toasted and buttered english muffins on the side; the muffins were great. My only gripe were on the poached eggs; one was a bit overcooked but still runny and the other was overcooked with a hard yolk. The dish was still very good; I love eggs no matter how they are cooked but I do want my yolk to be runny when I order an eggs benedict. We will definitely come back here again to try the other items on their extensive menu. read more

Food is OK, standard American breakfast, omelets, eggs, etc. Most ingredients are from frozen and prepacked, not freshly prepared. Seating is terrible all the booth chairs are shaking. Every time some behind you move, you are shaking too. Services are all right, some waitress are good some aren't, maybe most of them are too young, lack of training. The store many times not open at the the hours posted. A low cost breakfast place, but do expect frozen prepacked Sysco stuff. Quantity is very generous and dining space are relatively clean. If you are super hungry in the weekend morning, this is a great place to get full. read more
