Always a good decision! I do highly recommend the online check in otherwise you could be awhile waiting. Tried the sirloin and ribs tonight, amazing. Perfectly cooked steak and ribs were falling off the bone. Garlic green beans are on point as they should be. We'll be back roadhouse, keep up the great work CeCe!

Five stars for our server Cris who made our meal very special. Yesterday it was graduation day in a college town, so I knew all restaurants would be packed. My smart spouse of 100 months (yes, yesterday we did celebrate that milestone) put ourselves on the waitlist before we arrived. When we got there last night, it was so packed that people were barely able to close the door to the restaurant when it was really cold outside. We waited all of two minutes before being seated! Cris came over like a ray of sunshine - we talked to her so easily that I worried her other tables she was helping might worry. She cracked up about our 100 month anniversary, made sure we got our drinks and hot rolls and butter, explained every possible allergen on the menu, and constantly checked on us. She was so just fantastic and friendly that she deserves to be recognized! If you get here in the near future, ask for her section!

So we had the weirdest encounter ever here. After we ordered our food a girl brought out our salads (not our server) Girl: Two salads? Husband: Italian? (Dressing) Girl: I don't know, I don't eat salad Husband: you don't eat salad? Girl: I'm not a rabbit. Sets salads on table, walks away I was so shocked, I didn't have time to tell that girl off. Her job is to literally run salads to tables and she speaks to customers like that. LOL Anyways, besides that little twits fear of lettuce, our actually server was attentive, friendly and nice. The food was top notch, it was busy but it came out fast. It was Saturday night so they had prime rib, and that is what my husband had. All in all, besides a rude girl not knowing the difference between Italian dressing and ranch dressing because she's not a rabbit, we had a great meal and time!

I'm rather disappointed in having to write this. We placed an app order all to get home to find that all 3 salads we ordered were missing, there was no straw for a drink we ordered, the steak I ordered was not smothered and could not even be eaten because it was so tough and impossible to chew. When I attempted to take a bite, it had zero flavor and hurt my jaw to try and chew. It was cooked over well and I requested medium well and was nowhere near. My husband's steak was cooked very inconsistently, one side almost well, the other side medium well, and he requested medium. I do understand that we had about a 15 min drive home and the steaks could have warmed up enough, so that isn't as big of a deal. If I pay $70 for a meal, there really is NO other choice but for it to at least be correct. I'm not sure who is working as to go employees that just couldn't ensure we had all of our items. Just wish we could have enjoyed this meal and it been correct. I can't say we will be going again.

A lot of the steaks are pretty pricey, but their chuck roast is very good value (3 ish pounds ranges from 25-45 dollars depending on fat content). You can definitely taste the difference in the meat quality.

I had no idea there is a local wagyu shop in town! Last night Eric R. and I attended a HYPE event…read morehere for a wagyu tasting. Our host Tyler shared the history of wagyu beef in Japan, how it made its way to the U.S., and what is different between the two countries in production. Booth Creek's ranch is located just 20 miles away, so the cattle are raised locally. Marbling content is verified for each cow by a lab in Japan! There are three levels of marbling (silver10-15%, gold 16-25%, platinum 25%+). This is not a quality indicator but is along the lines of USDA's select, choice, prime (though the fat content in wagyu is much higher). The store has frozen cases divided by these levels, as well as a frozen bargain bin (20% off) and fresh cases in the middle of the store. The tasting began with beef charcuterie boards: jerky, jalapeno cheese snack sticks, and summer sausage with some cheeses. Then we were served wagyu meatballs cooked in Cox's BBQ sauce and honey from Booth Creek. The second course was a picanha roast, smoked and sliced like a prime rib. It was really close to the prime rib flavor and texture, but at a much better price point. Lastly, Tyler brought out KC strip steaks (platinum level, seasoned with salt and pepper only) that were sous vide at 127 degrees, and seared them on a flat top in beef tallow. After he let them rest for five minutes, he sliced them and we got to try them. They were incredibly juicy and tender, seasoned well. It makes me consider the sous vide method at home though I do not have the tools right now. They offered some bundles and discounts as they kept the shop open late for us. We ended up buying gold label fajita meat and filet mignon steaks plus a bargain bin silver label filet tips. I cannot believe I have access to locally raised quality wagyu beef here in Manhattan! Beef is definitely what I had for dinner last night!

Great day in the morning beautiful people of Yelpsville. Thank you for sharing a moment of this…read morefine life we're living, together. The 250th anniversary of being the new kids on the blue marble is upon us. My fam decided to make a pilgrimage back to the wifes stomping grounds. The heartland, Kansas. We're staying in the "Little Apple", Manhattan, Ks. Home of K-State University. Well also home of The Chef, which should be just as famous and endeared. The Chef is this gorgeous, chic, yet not so that it's kitschy diner in the heart of the main district of Manhattan. A classic diner, from the hospitality of the service staff, to the lunch counter with cute doodads for salt and pepper shakers. You've been here, because you've been home, or so it feels. Yes, be prepared to snuggle in for a teensy wait, because everyone loves home cooking, especially when someone else is doing the dishes afterwards. The portions are truly well beyong the prices. I ordered a CFS, smothered in sausage gravy. Was plated a Texas sized portion, thick steak, lightly crispily breaded, with a savory southern styled country gravy that honestly looked a bit intimidating in quantity, but I'm no fraidy cat. I came to conquer. Two perfectly running over medium eggs, whites done, yolks on the run, my style. A mountain of softly crunchy, better-than-homestyle fried potatoes, and a slice of thick cut wheat toast. This was a ton O' grub Bubba dub. Each component treated and seasoned well enough, to eat stand alone. Our meal partner kept checking on the family to see if we needed any more of that rich Arabica bean juice, or water, with the care of your fav Auntee from Mississippi, but right here, in the Land of Ahhhhs. She was winning us, even as much as The Chef that prepared the feast itself, and the food. Whew. The belly beat down was in effect, but I didn't tap out. I took that esophageal excitement with relish. Well not relish, with a sweet house made strawberry compote on toast. I wiped the plate clean. $15. You read that right... just $15. Oh I understand $15 is real money in this economy, but in relationship to the level of service, quality of service, epic portion sizes, and the finesse with which this small diner beat most anywhere we've been, and we share 39 years of worldwide travel as an old married couple, this was a bargain at $15, in the 90s. For sure back home in Texas this was honestly a $21 - $26 plate, and we're a beef producing state. Still with me? You're the real hero for hanging in here, and I truly appreciate you. If ever you want to taste Americas 250 years, in one sitting, visit The Chef in Manhattan, Ks. It's families feeding the community. No political spin, no feeling unwelcomed. An open door, to open hearts, feeding hungry bellies, without crushing your purses and wallets. They leave room in your account to make you want to reciprocate with generosity in returning, but also, tipping heartfully, without pressure. I miss when a meal was worth tipping huge without feeling it wasn't worth it. Here at the Chef, the earn it the old way. Be well, be loved, we're in this life past this page no matter what social media tells you. Hugs to you from me and mine. Go out and smile like ya mean it. Laugh like you're cray cray, and love like tomorrow isn't coming. Want pics? Nope. This place is worth you seeing for yourself. My pictures wouldn't do them justice. Peace y'all.

Jamaica, naturally, is no exception, so I don't usually get truly wowed by one of my favorite dishes, Jerk Chicken, when I order it at a new restaurant. Until today. If there was a definition for hole in the wall restaurants, it would be The Little Grill. Blink and you'll drive right by it. But once you come inside, you're greeted by the owner with a smile and a warm welcome. My server (I believe he said Bert, but I could be wrong) was so very kind, and did a great job recommending items from the menu. Which leads me to the Rum Punch. And a punch it certainly has, in the best way possible. So many times you drink a Rum Punch in the US it's overly sweet and watered down that you lose the flavor of the rum. Not here. Seriously, I'm from Denver where even in a bigger city it's hard to find a rum punch prepared the right way, but I'm sitting here in the middle of Kansas having one of the best Rum Punches I've tasted. Not in Kansas City, but just outside of Manhattan (the little apple, not the big one!) The drink was nice and fruity without being too sweet, and a nice kick from the rum. 10/10. Then we have the grilled chicken leg and pork chop combo (you can order it with jerk sauce or bbq sauce... but you have to get the jerk sauce) that was out of this world. Great taste of the bbq flavor and the sauce is incredible. Add a dash of their house made hot sauce (I'm not 100% sure but pretty sure they use scotch bonnet peppers in one of their sauces which is the only way to make hot sauce) and you've got an amazing Jamaican meal. Again, in the middle of land-locked Kansas. I was pretty stuffed after dinner (14.50 for all that food is an insanely good deal) so I ordered a second Rum Punch (what can I say, it was that good) and a slice of their daily house made dessert which today was a double chocolate rum cake slice or a carrot cake slice. I'm sure both are delicious but naturally I opted for the rum cake and have no doubt it'll be the perfect end to the day. I can say without certainty that I'm the only out of towner here. Everyone I see who walks inside knows the owner very well, and it's clear that the owner and her partner have amazing ties to the Manhattan community. But whether you're a local Kansan or passing through town for the university or on business, please make The Little Grill a stop. This is truly an unexpected gem in the heart of cattle country that seriously can't be missed.

The staff was friendly, the place was clean, they had live music playing. I definitely recommend driving out and trying this place.
