I've use Earmark (Addison/Plano) over the years since I was a kid. They are the best in installing anything audio/video in your vehicle. Be a car, boat, atv - anything electrical. They are not cheap and nor is their work. You want it done right the first time, come here. I dropped in the Lewisville location without an appointment to hardwire my V1 radar detector. They squeezed me in and did an amazing job. While I was here I got some ideas and cost for upgrading to a wireless CarPlay head unit with full integration of the factory features. If you notice, I previously left an extremely positive review, even recommended this place highly. Wow, I guess two years makes a big difference. I arrived at the store and a customer was ahead of me, so I waited (not for a long time) the rep to be done. Once he was done with the customer, I asked putting LED lights on the grill of my car and underneath. He said we "don't do that...", then I said "Anymore?" Cause I was told at my last visit they did. The gentleman (from my last visit) even clarified what colors I could get. The Gentleman I spoke to today say all they do is car stereo, and even if I wanted that he was booked out! I chose Earmark due to their high Yelp rating and the quality reviews they have received. From my recent experience Joe and Jim have certainly earned their reputations. I stopped in at Noon without an appointment to see about having my radar detector hard wired. They were busy, as could be expected, but Joe asked Jim (as he was headed to lunch) if he thought he could handle the job later that afternoon. Jim replied, "I can do it now". 20 minutes later the job was done and I was on my way. I'm headed back next week to add a mirror mount once it arrives from the manufacturer. Took my truck in for an amp adjustment and have my dash tweeters looked at since it didnt appear to be working. Jim is a very knowledgable man who seems to love what he does. After checking out the problem, he showed me what the previous installers did (a business in Dallas that I would definately not recommend and have written a review about them), and adjusted my amp since the previous place didnt do that right as well. I dropped my boat of 10 weeks ago for some re-wiring and was told it would take 2 weeks. For 2 weeks it sat in their parking lot not getting worked on. Then for 2 months straight they have told me it would be ready the next day and still nothing. I keep going in there every day and nobody is ever working on the boat. Meanwhile I see boat after boat coming in and being put ahead of my work. They don't keep their word. Keeping your word is one of the smallest yet impactful things you can do to build trust and needless to say I have zero trust in them. There is no greater fraud than a broken word. Very disappointed with these guys and their empty promises. 10 weeks now on a 2 week job that should have taken 2 days. Just want my boat back at this point so I can take it somewhere else to get the work completed. read more

But it would be nice to have a backup camera that I can actually trust and use and not the Ibeam camera they sold me that has little color and mostly sepia tones. The "secret shop" in DFW. Okay... They may look like a leftover from the early 80s tint and car audio stores - but hidden in that is THE BEST INSTALLERS in north Texas work here. The guy behind the cash register keeps his cards close to his chest, but they do all the sub-out work for the high end dealers in Collin County. I got to go in the back one time to see not one, but two Ferraris in the back getting totally tripped out audio systems. They also do excellent tint jobs - can match Yukon/Escalade rear factory tinted glass to new on the front windows perfectly, and are familiar with the challenges of keyless entry antenna being blocked by some tint. I think they do all the new car tint work for Classic BMW . You can probably get stuff done cheaper elsewhere (and by that, I mean "cheap" materials, and "cheap" install work - which means purple windows and hearing a hmm in your amp when you accelerate). That's not their thing. Pricing these days can be so transparent via the web, don't think these guys can work for pennies and still pay the rent. Nor can they can get something "special" for less than a motivated eBay shopper trying to compare grey-market non-USA warranty goods to Earmarks authorized suppliers. That's not their thing. If you want the best - trust Earmark. read more

I must start this off by saying I wish I could give it a higher rating because Ben is awesome and he helped me a LOT. Initially I was very impressed. I wanted to listen to Focal, Hertz, and Morel side by side. Ben hooked it up! (he also gave me some great advice about needed changes to my first fiberglass box) I was able to hear Focal and Hertz in their test room. Same source, same song, switching from one set of components to the next instantly. I favored the Hertz personally so I bought two sets. I did some research on line and decided to go pick up the HSK even though they were less online. I didn't want to deal with any problems if I bought from unauthorized dealers. I was set on the HSK series and listened to some of the ESKs as an after thought. They sounded fantastic too so I bought some new old stock for a really good price. I priced some amps and decided to go with the JL JX360 for my channels and my old amp for my sub. As I was checking out I spoke to whom I assume is the store owner and I asked about competing with online dealers with pricing. I really try to spend money locally to support small businesses. There are times when a difference of $100-150 will make me look to the on line places especially if the local guy doesn't budge one thin dime. Here is where I began to get pissed! I talked about a unit I wanted for my ride that is made by Advent and sold by one person that I know of. I asked if they could get it as I said, if the price is even close I shop locally. I was standing at the counter when the wholesale guy called back and he happened to be speaking pretty loud on the phone and I heard him say $975. I am thinking hey, this will work out. The unit I priced is $1025 to my door. The owner stepped into the installation bay to finish the conversation and came back in and told my sales guy they could sell that unit for $1450. W-T-F??? We are talking about a unit I researched and decided on. Gave them the model number and manufacturer. So them making a call and having it sent justifies making $475 profit off of me on my homework? They didn't know the unit existed until I asked about it. He told me my price to the door was only $50 more than what they could get it for. I would say $50 to make a phone call is more than enough profit. I had researched the warranty period with JL Audio if you use an authorized dealer and it was 1 year. 2 years if it was installed by an authorized dealer. I was informed the warranty period for the amp I was about to tuck under my arm would be 90 days. Yes, a brand new A stock JL Audio amp. 90 days because (I have not ever... will not ever pay someone to install an amp. EVER!) they weren't doing the install. I was not pleased about this. I wanted the amp so I bought it. I was looking at how I was going to mount these two amps and decided a class D compact 5 channel would have to be the solution. The whole time I was trying to solve this jigsaw puzzle I was thinking "Don't so much as fingerprint that amp. Leave it in the baggie because they probably won't take it back" I slept on it and decided the amp was going back and I was looking for another shop. I found one selling the XD700/5 for the same price as Earmark but gave me the option of 30 days trial and full credit toward and upgrade if that amp wasn't enough. Polar opposite of my experience at Earmark. I left it in the baggie remember? When I asked about the BS warranty on that amp he looked in the box at the owners manual and read 1 year. He claims he mis spoke. WTF? You are the premier authorized JL dealer in the area? At any rate, the amp I bought was too big for the application and was going back. It took a good hour of conversation to try to get my refund. It wasn't damaged, it wasn't installed. It wouldn't fit and I want my money back. Period! I am sure he knew he was losing a customer for good. (One who spent $600 in 2 days in his shop and would have spent another $300 that day) He offered some kind of last ditch damage control discount on the amp I wanted. $50 off. Finally you offer something enticing. Too late in the game though. I got my money back and drove to your competitor and paid full price for that amp. The customer service I received at their shop was fantastic. I felt welcome and appreciated and I also feel like I would be taken care of. The didn't nickel and dime me. I needed the JL amp control knob. $20. I needed some heavy speaker wire to parallel my DVC sub. Cost. $0. Try that sometime and you will keep people coming back. I thinking giving away $1.50 worth of speaker wire and knocking $10 off the knob in order to make a life long customer is worth doing. They get not only my business but as much as I can refer. I hope you get some kind of business sense before it's too late. I realize you have overhead and need to make money to survive but please don't think your customers are fools. read more

I've had numerous systems installed by Earmark and they have been very responsive in my requests. They installed a system in my Tahoe and in my boat. I've also used them for my security system. I was having issues and it turned out to be a problem with the installation. Instead of blaming the vendor they told me they made a mistake and fixed the issue.
