I searched high and low for rib tips and finally found them. We drove from Denton and I fully expecting to be disappointed given rib tips are not standard TX barbecue. I was thoroughly surprised!! The rib tips were well seasoned and I could taste the smoke. They were tender and ample in size. I don't usually like BBQ sauce, but this was more sweet than spicy which is right up my alley. The sauce was thick and held on to the meat well, but honestly it wasn't needed. I ordered a large rib tip that I expected would come with bread, it did not. I asked for bread and the bread was not cheap. It was like Wonder Bread or Sara Lee!! The brisket was just ok for me...there's a lot of brisket in TX! Good bark, tender, all the makings of a brisket, just not a stand out. The sides were just ok, but on par with other BBQ restaurants. For me, I'd rather they do their main menu item very well! I'm from Mississippi and when I tell you I had a nostalgia of home! From the welcome to the hospitality. As I was waiting for my to go order the owner was out greeting all the customers. After finding out the farmer's market was closed for the winter, we had to make our trip out to Frisco worth it so we found this place nearby and oh my goodness what a great find! Now we have our usual BBQ place but this definitely gave it a run for it's money and my boyfriend and I think that this might become our usual! Everything is made to order so when you get your food, everything is hot, crispy and prepped just for you! But before we dive into the food, let's just talk about the incredible service we had. Every single person that works at this restaurant just makes you want to come back the next day with how friendly and inviting they were. We even met the owner who was serving food, wiping tables and greeting people with a giant smile when they walked through the door. He welcomed us to the family and we felt right at home! Now, onto the food. I usually take better pictures than this but I was so eager to jump into eating so please excuse the mediocrity. When I tell you every single thing we ate was beyond our expectations, I am not exaggerating. None of the meat needed barbecue sauce (even though the bbq sauce is delicious!!) All cuts were seasoned so well! The ribs were moist and falling off the bone, the sausage had the right saltiness and bite, the brisket was moist, the catfish was fried to lovely crispiness with breading so perfectly seasoned, all the sides were enjoyed thoroughly and last but not least that was some of the best garlic toast I've ever had. Sides were very good and tasted fresh. The gentleman that brought our food out was super friendly and nice. Two stars for these two points. This place is empty during lunchtime on a Saturday for a reason: it's extremely overpriced. The portions were very small and the meat itself was very fatty and parts were very dry. The loaded baked potato included cheese that wasn't real - it was Velveeta or a similar fake cheese product. There were three of us that dined here, and the total including tip was $75. Way too expensive to bring the rest of the family, especially as the portions aren't shareable. It could still be worth it if the food was good, but sadly it wasn't. I would also suggest that the lady taking our order be a bit more patient and nice. There was no one behind us, but she acted a bit annoyed to have to stand there while we made our order decisions. She offered no helpful suggestions, and never even cracked a smile. This location is right next to Frisco Fieldhouse, which usually has hundreds of people in and out most days. It was seasoned without being overly seasoned and had the right amount of smoke(it didn't even need any bbq sauce. However, if you'd like to indulge Earnest B's bbq sauce is vinegar based, with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy( none of the harsh stuff, usually reserved for all things pork). The fries were fresh and hot and the green beans were nicely seasoned(although a little heavy on the vinegar for me). I went with the catfish plate and BOY! 4 catfish fillets seasoned and breaded beautifully! When I broke a piece open, steam came rolling out it was so hot! Our experience today was bad. We placed an hour this morning via phone with a gentleman. We told him how many we were feeding. We went with his recommendation. He told us it came with bread. When we went to get it, we didn't have the bread in the bag so we asked. Someone came and gave us 4 slices. We mentioned when we spoke with the staff this morning we were told it came with bread for our party. We told them we had 6. At the store they said they only gave 4 slices. We were told we could buy two more slices. After we just spent close to $90 for the meat and were told it came with bread for the 6 people, we were shocked we only got 4 and were told to buy two more. We said never mind we were told one thing and would just go to the store to buy more. He said ok in a rather condescending tone. Our experience last year was totally different but this time it was awful. My husband said this would probably be our last time going there. I'm hoping the chopped brisket tastes good. read more

This family owned and operated spot is not only great for its family friendly feel but, their food is also delicious. We had the opportunity to meet Ernest, his son who was barbecuing and obviously pouring love everything he learned into the food, and Ernest's mother. It was definitely a family affair. Everyone were so warm and welcoming that they made us feel a part of the family. Our family all together had catfish, brisket, and pulled pork. All perfection and not a scrap was left behind. I also enjoyed that they didn't JUST have your basic BBQ fair. The catfish and bologna sandwiches were other classics included. They also sell their sauces and seasonings in house. I've been to a lot of BBQ restaurants in the DFW area and this restaurant is in my top three! I ordered chopped brisket, sausage, mac n cheese and potato salad. Everything was great! I do wish they had sliced brisket as well. The staff was very nice and it gave me a hometown feel. The reason for four stars...the wait. They have a sign that states something like this isn't a fast food restaurant etc. It was almost an hour wait at about 2pm. I would think everything I ordered had to be cooked on the grill for hours before and the mac n cheese and potato salad should be prepared in large quantities. We went here to try Ernest's famous BBQ. We've been texting a week before our visit, because I want my son and daughter in law see the place for their son's baptism reception. I hate to be one of the few to leave a very low review, but I have to speak my truth. This was my second time here. The first time was when they were in the Infiniti car dealership. They now have a standalone location. The first time I got a chopped beef brisket sandwich which was decent enough I was willing to give them another try. The first time which was last summer I had good service as well. However when I came here a couple of days ago. I was disappointed. I ordered half a pound of brisket, a side of BBQ baked beans, classic mac and cheese, and teach Cobbler. The quality of the brisket was unacceptable and flavorless I didn't eat it and forgot to take a picture because it went straight in the trash after my first bite, but the portion I had looked unappetizing as it was low-quality brisket that looked as if stewed and then baked in an oven. My experience was night and day from the first time I visited. The sides were good. The beans were tasty and the mac and cheese had good flavor, no complaints there. The peach Cobbler was undercooked. The service was poor. I can't tell them how to run their business but charging for a slice of bread per slice is appealing to me. The first time unwashed greeted and engaged and thanked for my business. It was a positive experience. This time around I ordered and waited while the people in the back kept on talking I was one of 2 people in the restaurant. One person was dining in yet waited about 30 minutes for my order. I received my order and asked the gentleman if there was sliced bread he said yes. I checked my order before I left and this is when the service went downhill for me. As I mentioned before their way of rectifying this was to charge per slice, I refused by the way. I was frustrated but they didn't seem to care. Therefore I won't be back with my hard-earned dollars to support this establishment. I've been to many many BBQ restaurants, from Hutchins in Frisco, Pecan Lounge in Dallas to Terry Black's, Kreuz, and Smittys in Lockhart to name a few, and never had to deal with this. Those spots are high-quality food and high-quality service TX BBQ establishments. I didn't feel like my business was appreciated and they lost a customer.
