Brisket, ribs, frito pie sausage, Texas Twinkie, creamed corn, mac and cheese, potato casserole, fried okra, sweet tea

This is the best BBQ I've ever had and I've had most of the heavy hitters across Dallas, Austin, Houston, and Lockhart. This is the rule against which I measure all other barbecues. I would dare say this place has the best of each item I have ever tried. You can't go wrong with anything on the board, but I'll walk you through my typical order to assist the indecisive. Brisket, ribs, frito pie sausage, texas twinkie, potato casserole, creamed corn, mac and cheese, fried okra. Obligatory sweet tea and bottomless peach cobbler with vanilla soft serve. I'll leave the quantities to you but if this is a special occasion then better to get everything and have leftovers for tomorrow. Pro tip - convince someone else to drive you because you will need some recovery time once you inevitably attempt to consume the entire tray

Stopped by Hutchins BBQ and had an outstanding meal. I ordered the beef rib, moist and lean brisket, pork ribs, mac and cheese, green beans, baked potato, and fried okra. The beef rib was the star of the meal. It was incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and perfectly smoked. The moist brisket was rich, juicy, and everything you'd want from great Texas barbecue. The lean brisket provided a nice contrast. It was noticeably drier than the moist brisket, as expected, but still full of flavor and a great reminder that good barbecue doesn't have to rely on fat alone. The pork ribs were meaty, flavorful, and cooked just right. The real surprise was the green beans. They were outstanding and easily one of the best sides I've had at a BBQ restaurant. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, and the fried okra was crispy and fresh. The baked potato was good, and what made it fun was the self-serve toppings bar stocked with bacon, sour cream, butter, jalapeños, pickles, and other fixings so you could customize it exactly how you like. That said, I think another 10 minutes on the smoker would have taken the potato itself to the next level. Overall, this was some of the best Texas BBQ I've had. Great meats, excellent sides, generous portions, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. It's easy to see why Hutchins has such a loyal following, and I'll definitely be back.

Ribs, sausage, bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeño, and broccoli salad

Always great eating when we're back in Texas. People line up early, so don't dawdle. The pork ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and of course, the Texas Twinkie are my favorites. Save room for the banana cream pudding and peach cobbler with ice cream. You'll leave smelling like a campfire, but your belly and the rest of you will be thrilled.

Heavy food that left our trip to Texas a disappointment. The brisket was melt in your mouth good but the rest of my meal was a miss. The others in my party were left disappointed as their chopped brisket and turkey weren't anything to return for. As for me, I had asked for a sliced brisket sandwich but received three slices of brisket and told the bread I can get at the self serve area. Kind of wish they just gave me the sandwich like they did the others in my party. The broccoli salad was mediocre. The Mac and cheese was more cheese than Mac. It also tasted like a fast-food place (chick fil a tastes better imo). My friends compared it to Panera Bread. The place is nice for the most part. Staff is friendly. Place is somewhat clean. Staff do their best to keep up but it's sort of a mad house if you're eating inside. It was rather odd the staff handed cards to encourage a five star review but whatever works to boost restaurants ratings online I guess. Definitely a hyped up TikTok place.

    An entire plate of deliciousness!

The staff and food were great! We had their famous Texas Twinkie's, jalapeño cheddar sausage, pork ribs and sliced brisket. The meats were so fresh and moist and didn't require any extra sauce. They let you split your sides as not to over order what you don't want. We had the brisket beans mixed with jalapeño beans. Then half order of potato salad with broccoli salad and creamed corn. Both were delicious and flavorful. They even provide dessert on them! Fresh peach cobbler with ice cream and banana pudding.

I was craving a loaded bbq potato and Hutchins was the main choice and I'm glad I came here. My first ever visit to Hutchins was in McKinney and it was a 10/10 experience, this was no different. I came in and placed a to go order for a loaded brisket potato. The to-go process was seamless, and the customer service was friendly. My food was done in less than 15 min. Everything needed to be assembled when I got home which I actually preferred. I loaded my potato with bacon, butter, sour cream and cheese then topped it with the brisket. The potato was excellent, it was so hearty, the brisket was delicious as was the bbq sauce. My only critique is for the price($20), I think the potato should be much bigger, it was an average size potato but I will say after assembling everything it was alot of food. No real complaints, they'll be seeing me again!

Hutchins Frisco vs McKinney: I've now tried both locations and yesterday, the brisket in Frisco won. It cut like butter. Tasted so fresh and juicy with the perfect bark. Green beans were juicy and cooked well, needed a touch of salt. Texas Twinkie was bigger than I've seen before. I appreciate the overwhelming amount of sides to pick from and how they fill everything to the brim for you. Sausage had a great bite and I even tried their Frito Pie sausage in line! Although both will get my business, Frisco didn't disappoint yesterday! One thing I'll say about the service. It was fantastic. Everyone behind the counter was attentive, smiling and working quickly to keep the line moving. I appreciated the ladies monitoring tables with to go boxes and bags as well. Oh and free dessert! Don't forget the peach cobbler and ice cream on a hot Texas day. The vibe in there was so fun and exciting. Music was just loud enough to hold conversation as well. Plan ahead: there will most likely be a line, you can always order to go from the to go side but dine in is preferred method for me. They serve you ice cold water in line, offer umbrellas and a sausage sample from the pit.

Always my fave place to stop and eat when we're in town. Everyone was so kind. Delicious food. Cynthia made sure we were well taken care of. Can't wait to come back!!!

The line moves quickly. The servers are friendly. Your meat is very well seasoned. Bbq sauce is optional because the meat is so seasoned and tender. The side dishes and desserts are also delicious.

Top to bottom: Brisket Texas Twinky Jalapeño cheddar sausage.

The moment I saw they used Styrofoam cups was the moment I knew this place was going to be good. Ordered the brisket, texas twinky and the jalapeño cheddar sausage for the meats and the green beans and creamed corn for the sides. Brisket easily my favorite. So tender it nearly disintegrated in your mouth. Was good with or without any sauce and I enjoyed the tangy sauce the most. The creamed corn was my favorite side, it had a rich texture with a nice little kick that complimented the flavor as a whole.

I came here visiting family and this place was SO good. When you drive in, the lot is very packed with lots of people. There was a line but it gave you time to choose. I got sausage and brisket. Then you can choose sides. They charge by the tray so you can get as much as you want in the tray. I got Mac n cheese, fries, and a salad. Then you also can get dessert too when you dine in. The brisket was by far the best thing I ate. That brisket was so tender and flavorful. The sides were also delicious. I also loved the banana pudding and ice cream bar. While you eat, you can also watch tv inside. It is a bit loud but it was a fun environment. I will definitely have to come back when visiting.

Beef rib, pork rib, brisket. Jalapeño charro beans. Okra.

Hutchins has been on my list for a long time. I've heard enough people say it's their favorite to decide for myself. The bbq does not disappoint! The beef rib was the star of the plate. It was everything I want in a beef rib. The brisket was perfectly rendered and had a nice bark. My only criticism is that I like my meats salty and this felt slightly understated. It's probably perfect for 99.9% of the people but I've been to enough of these places to begin to really discriminate in the little things. The pork rib was done just right. Bite off the bone, not fall off... the way it should be. There was a sweetness to the glaze that compliments the pork nicely without being too much. Would I recommend Hutchins? Absolutely! Is it the best in TX? Probably not but I would say it's my favorite in the Dallas area and that's saying something

Pits, the line at 5:30 Saturday night.

Ask the Community - Hutchins BBQ

    Do they offer lean brisket?

Yes, you can ask for different cuts of meat. :)

Can you only order by the pound or to they have an option to try a few items and not get an entire pound of each?

You can ask for any amount of meat. The beef rib you have to buy the whole 2-3lb, each pork rib you can buy individual ribs. They're all weighed out so you can get as little as you want. The side dishes are by paper tray fixed price - so fill it…

Do they have All You can eat Beef Rib?

No. They only have all you can eat dessert

Do you guys run out of brisket usually?

Yes a meat place runs out of meat. That's how they stay in business.

Outgoing message says phone orders must be 24 hours ahead and minimum 5 lbs. So to order anything…

    They are on Doordash.

Are your beef or poultry options Halal, by any chance? Trying to organize a group lunch, but want to make sure everyone has an option open to them.

I don't believe so - they also prepare/serve pork sausage and ribs on the same surfaces as the rest of the meats

    Is this place BYOB?

    Yes, you can BYOB!

Is there still an option for AYCE BBQ?

No more AYCE at either location according to person who answered the phone today 9/23/21. Such sad news.

    Is there outdoor seating?

    Yes!

    Can you make reservations?

Can I BYOB to pass the time in line?

    Yes!

What are Fire Crackers? Also, what is in the broccoli salad? Lastly, do they offer the Texas Twinkies at the Frisco location? Are they available Friday, Sat & Sunday? Do you have a limited quantity of them and do I need to arrive early to get them?

They call the twinkies armadillo toes and you can only get them on the weekend. I don't know what's in the broccoli salad but it's good. And I'm not a huge broccoli fan.

How much is all you can eat per person?

    25 per person

    Is there a drive thru?

No. But you can call ahead and pickup.

    Deep fried turkey?

No fried turkey, just smoked delicious turkey!

    Do they offer gift cards?

    Yes

    Is the patio dog friendly?

I'm sorry I don't think so. I've never seen a dog there but call them!!

They're also aesthetically pleasing. A bit less eggy than other fluffy souffle pancake joints that I've tried overseas. The pancakes here are fluffy and closer to the American cake consistency, but much lighter and easier to cut through versus the types you'd get in Japan. Strawberry Souffle Pancakes - The strawberries are fresh and delicious. Definitely appreciate that the whipped cream appears to be made in house and not out of a can. The premium pancake option comes with the equivalent of three strawberries and two pancakes with a reasonable dollop of whipped cream and strawberry sauce. Nutella Banana Souffle Pancakes - Roughly half or two-thirds of a banana split in two and appears to have a bit of caramelized sugar on it. There's also one strawberry, a Ferrero Rocher, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce to go with two fluffy pancakes. The entree is definitely well executed and fruits are fresh. Whipped cream is excellent. Overall, this place is a great place to enjoy some fluffy souffle pancakes. There's limited seating and wait times on the pancakes are anywhere between 15-20 minutes, which we appreciate because they do make them to order. The price of $13.99 for two pancakes off the premium menu felt a bit steep for the product. Experience at much better establishments, like Happy Pancake, in Shibuya or Ginza offer three pancakes with a greater quantity of whipped cream and fruits at roughly $8.25 with no expectations on tips. I understand we're in the states and this may not be a fair comparison, but the variance in both quantity and price is steep. Other than that, the product is good and worth a try.
