In a state overflowing with elite barbecue, I'd heard so much hype about Hutchins BBQ that it immediately became a must-try. Walking in, the first thing you notice is the crowd. You order first, then join everyone else in the hunt for a table. This place was absolutely PACKED. Fortunately, the line moved quickly, the staff kept things efficient, and we managed to snag a table inside. Now for the sticker shock. Expensive is an understatement. Our order included: * 1 Beef rib: $63.40 * 1/4 lb brisket: $10.40 * Cheddar jalapeño sausage: $9.60 * 1/4 Turkey slice: $7.44 * 1/4 lb pulled pork: $7.80 The prices definitely made me pause, but thankfully the food mostly delivered. The beef rib was outstanding--juicy, incredibly tender, with a beautiful bark and excellent seasoning. It was everything you'd hope for from Texas barbecue. The cheddar jalapeño sausage was one of the best I've ever had. Every bite was packed with melted cheddar and jalapeño, perfectly seasoned with an incredible snap. I'd order it again without hesitation. The pulled pork also exceeded my expectations. Oddly enough, it was served cold, but even so it was juicy, flavorful, and smoked nearly to perfection. Unfortunately, the brisket didn't live up to the reputation. It wasn't bad by any means, but in a state where brisket is king, this one was simply average. Likewise, the turkey was just okay, both were borderline dry and lacking the smoky flavor that separates good barbecue from great barbecue. The sides were solid. The mac and cheese was rich and cheesy without being particularly memorable. The green beans were surprisingly good, with a subtle sweetness that made them more interesting than your typical barbecue side. Then came one of Hutchins' best touches: complimentary banana pudding, peach cobbler, and soft-serve ice cream. The peach cobbler was phenomenal, honestly the best restaurant peach cobbler I've ever had. It arrived hot with a crisp, crunchy topping and a soft, fluffy interior bursting with peach flavor. Add a scoop of the complimentary vanilla soft serve, and it becomes an outstanding dessert. The banana pudding also exceeded my expectations. For a restaurant serving it complimentary, it's about as good as you could ask for, creamy, balanced, and incredibly satisfying. Overall, Hutchins absolutely earns its reputation as one of the better barbecue joints in Texas. While the brisket and turkey kept it from reaching that truly unforgettable, five-star level, the beef rib, sausage, pulled pork, and complimentary desserts made for a meal that's well worth experiencing at least once. If you're in the McKinney area, it's an easy recommendation just be prepared for the crowds and the prices.

Definitely worth the high ratings! I finally made my way here with my parents and sister on a Saturday around 1PM. The line was long as expected but it moved quickly. I wish I'd gotten the name of the gentlemen who was giving out samples by the bbq pits, he was super friendly, made some recommendations when he learned it was our first time and gave us nice sized samples of the regular and jalapeño cheddar sausage and the dino beef rib which was amazing by the way. Once inside, I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich, a texas twinkle, 1 hot link, mac and cheese and green beans. Chopped brisket sandwich: Nicely sized, packed with meat and delicious! The meat was tender, flavorful, no gristle or weird pieces throughout, highly recommended! Texas Twinkie: Succulent! Nothing else needs to be said, it was amazing. Hot link: Small but good flavor and had a nice kick of heat. Green beans were a little harder than i preferred but they had good flavor. Mac and cheese was really creamy, needed more flavor though. Ended the meal with a sample of the peach cobbler and banana pudding. The peach cobbler was ok but the banana pudding was pretty tasty and the chocolate cone was simple but good. Shout out to Paula who was working our area, she was so friendly and accommodating. Great experience, great food, definitely chaotic inside but I can't wait to return!

Best bbq that I've had so far in texas!! Omg that brisket is so melty and beef! Pork ribs were fall off the bone. Texas twinky was something haha in a good way! Can't go wrong with a sausage link either! Love that there's free banana pudding, peach cobbler, and soft serve. I'm happy! So worth it!

We were told that this was one of the best bbq in town. We all wanted the brisket so we ordered the family pack. The brisket was good and just enough fat. The potato casserole was really good, was a little skeptical at first but it did not disappoint. The cream of corn and baked beans were fine. The meals come with all you can eat dessert: ice cream, bread pudding and peach cobbler. The ice cream was terrible. It was so bad that I had to throw it out. It not something I would call ice cream. My friends all enjoyed the banana pudding.

Was visiting Dallas for a concert. Tried this place for the first time. Lines are long so we got there around 1pm and didnt have to wait too long. The bbq is priced by weight, so it adds up. We got the pork ribs, brisket, a beef rib, cole slaw, sausage, texas twinke, green beans. Total with tip was 240$, the one beef rib was 67$! The brisket was excellent, the beef rib also. The pork ribs were so so, 6/10. Guess you stick with beef in TX. You do get a bunch of free sides like pickles etc and you get like free serve yourself peach cobbler. Service is fast and friendly. Glad I tried it, but I've had better in the area.

This was a very good stop for good BBQ! The brisket was juicy, the sides had major flavor. The star of the show was the Texas Twinkie!!! A brisket cream cheese filled jalapeño wrapped in bacon Definitely a must if you need BBQ and are in the area!

This place was actually recommended to us by a friend who had eaten here before, and I have to agree, it did not disappoint. It's called Hutchins Barbecue, and I'd say it's a must-visit if you're in the area! It's one of those spots where you order first and then go find a seat. There was a bit of a line when we got there, but it moved pretty quickly. It probably would've been even faster if we had known exactly what we wanted, but since it was our first time and we were a group, it took us a minute to decide. Also, the place was packed but it wasn't hard to find a table since there's plenty of seating. We got a family pack so we could try a little bit of everything.. brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and potato casserole, and honestly every single bite was so good. I also got a Texas Twinkie, which is their version of a jalapeño popper, and that was amazing. Super smoky and so flavorful. I don't think I've ever had barbecue this good before! Also, bonus point, dessert is free if you dine in. They had banana pudding, peach cobbler, and soft serve ice cream. That might have been one of my favorite parts, not going to lie!

We were traveling in from Omaha, so we know good BBQ and Hutchins BBQ was honestly some of the best BBQ we have ever eaten. Everything was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and lived up to all the hype. The ribs were literally falling off the bone, and the brisket was so tender and full of flavor. The mac and cheese was out of this world, and the cream corn was also incredible. Every single thing we tried was delicious. Even with a line, it moved really quickly, and the whole experience was efficient and well organized. It was popping in there! Very good vibes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The food was also very fairly priced for the quality and portions you get. One of the best surprises was that dessert is free if you dine in, which was such a nice bonus and the perfect way to end an amazing meal. I had the peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert and it was so good that I went back for seconds. If you're anywhere near the area and love BBQ, this place is a must-visit!

We hit Hutchins at exactly the right time - no line. This is a top BBQ / Smoked meat place. We got sliced brisket, chopped brisket, sliced turkey, Jalapeño Cheese sausage and then sides of mac &cheese, green beans, coleslaw and loaded potatoes. All of the food was great but the slices briskett was phenomenal. Can't wait to get back here

Came here for lunch. They have a dine in or take option. You can build your our plate via pound of meat from their variety of selection, they give free sides, fountain drinks and dessert. The food by pound is on the pricer side especially when it's two regular size rib for 10$, one sausage $10 and $20 two slice of their signature cut. It was filling because I don't eat much but definitely more costly compare to other famous Texas bbq. The service was good. My server was extra attentive and helpful. The ambiance was rustic, country style and warm tone lighting. They have a parking lot outside.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Hutchins BBQ and had a really great experience. Even on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we only waited about 15-20 minutes in line, which wasn't bad at all. Inside is spacious, and we had no trouble finding a table for our group of 10. Our waitress, Megan, was incredibly kind and attentive. She and the team even sang happy birthday and surprised him with an ice cream cone, which made the day feel extra special. The food was very good overall. My favorite was the jalapeño pork sausage, it was full of flavor. The pork ribs were also delicious. The brisket was okay, not my top choice compared to the other meats. Portion sizes for the sides are generous. We tried the corn, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and fries. The mashed potatoes were definitely the standout, and the coleslaw was also really good. The corn wasn't our favorite. Overall, we really enjoyed our time.

Finally made it out to Hutchins BBQ and yeah... I get the hype now. Got the brisket and it was honestly some of the best I've had -- super tender, good bark, not dry at all. The ribs were solid too, and the jalapeño sausage had a nice kick without being too much. Sides were better than I expected (mac & cheese and the beans especially).

11 am .... Just opened. Line formed outside already. On a Monday.

I'm about 50/50 on bbq places, but this was . Very very tasty!!! Sauce is gluten free so I could be the carnivore I wanted to be. Not as many options for sides on the gluten intolerance scale but the cheesy potatoes were delicious so I didn't mind.

Is your sliced brisket available "juicey?"

I think so. I always ask for lean so I would assume you could ask for juicy.

What days do they have beef ribs?

They used to just have them on Friday and Saturday, but I believe they may have decided to offer them all week long. They're amazing!

Do they still have the all-u-can-eat option? Asking for a hungry friend.

No. An old signage of that is viewable as decor only.

    Do you take reservations?

No - they are walk up to the counter and order style and it is open seating.

Any update on the McKinney location reopening?

It is open, and as good as ever!

Do they do online gift cards?

    Yes, https://hutchinsbbq.com

Thinking about hosting a rehearsal dinner. Is it possible to do it here at Hutchins, and if so, do they have a private dining area?

Consider having them cater but they are much too busy for your rehearsal dinner, not that they couldnt handle it, it just probably would not be as private as you would like. Amazing food tho!

This company needs to get people that actually want to work with sincerity because the people currently working there are going to put their company down the drain. The young girl with the pixie haircut was VERY RUDE & gave nothing but 'RBF" upon entering and while I was asking questions. I came in with the intention of buying a full pie but after the service that was given I walked out with nothing in hand and I don't regret it.
