Goodie isle...

What a fantastic Supermarket right on the doorstep to my daughters apartment. I guess I'll be doing the buying when I come visit as this store is a little too expensive for their student budgets and bland processed diet. I on the other hand loved it. They have a great all round selection of fresh meat & veggies. All organic here which is great. And after watching Food Inc the other night I will never again buy anything but organic foods again and lucky for me I can choose that option. They have ready made & freshly baked pizza, a little cafe, a butcher on site and very few name brands that you usually see in the supermarkets. It's pricier but you get what you pay for. The staff were super helpful and yes they do have sales. If you are astute you can certainly get some deals. Stop in, it's a trove of healthy goodies.

A grocery store committed to healthy options. Overall, it's nice. The prices are higher than other grocery stores. Trail mix, beans, candy, spices, herbs, nuts, beans, seeds, grain--all can be bought in bulk. They have natural makeups. They carry organic soaps, beeswax, shea butter, and body scrubs. The deli department has a nice selection of meat. There's a hot bar, olive bar, and salad bar. There's also a decent size dining area.

It's nice to have an Earth Fare in town, especially when Summerville is lacking any specialty health foods stores, like Fresh Market, Whole Foods, etc. even Trader Joes. Growing up in NC, Southern Season was always one of our favorite stores. Instead of driving all the way to MP for those listed above (except FM), this is a good alternative. Food: They offer a lot of ready to eat and nicely prepared good eats. They have an olive bar, freshly made pasta, salad bar, hot food bar including three kinds of rice (white, brown, and another one I forgot the name), pizza bar, sushi freshly made and another prepped food bar (requires cooking). In addition, they have a large selection of cheeses, meats, nuts, pasta, just to name a few. Lastly, the cookie and desert bar is a major hit, at least for my kids:) Service: They have nice, friendly staff who are willing to assist and answer any questions. The ones we dealt with all were extra nice, helpful, and have positive attitudes. Price: Good. They offer weekly specials which can be quite reasonable for those on a budget. In addition, check out their daily specials that are unbeatable! Location: Located right off of Main Street close to i26. You can pick up your groceries and goodies, as well as your pet food next door at the pet supermarket. Plenty of parking. The only downfall is the area gets pretty congested during rush hour. Unique products: They are known to offer some unique items not typically found in normal grocery stores or retail shops, like essential oils, gourmet food products, $1 baguettes... Atmosphere: The aisles can be a little tight when they are busy. Eating Area: They have a small area to eat or if you want simply want to relax a bit. I bet they have wifi.

It was more than I hoped for in a hot bar. Absolutely delicious!!!

As an Instacart shopper, I really appreciate that the managers actually take the time to check in and see if I need help finding anything--it makes a huge difference in my day! From the fresh bakery smell to the incredible produce and meat, they always have exactly what I'm looking for. It's just a great, positive vibe every time I walk in. Highly recommend!

If they had a salad bar, I wouldn't have to cheat on them and go to the Lowe's Foods! But they don't. So I do. This Publix is just ok to me mainly because of the layout. The produce section is on the opposite side of the store from the bakery and deli. Makes no sense to me. The one on D Road that I e been shopping at for 20 years, and still use for my prescriptions, has the correct layout. Bakery, deli, produce. All aisle 1. The other thing that I'm not a fan of, and I believe this is all Publix, the self checkout doesn't take cash. Cash is still king in my world! But hey, we can't always get what we want. See you tomorrow Publix!

Who comes to a grocery store and doesn't buy groceries? Me!…read more I love Lowe's Boxcar Coffee and Beer Den. Tucked into a corner, it's a great place to relax with your favorite beverage. The booths are comfy, plenty of high tops, and a few seats at the bar. The coffee is excellent. I'm a purist, but flavor fanciers will love the available options. I'm going to try the beer, because I can buy in recyclable growlers - and it's tasty. But the attribute I like best is that while it's not silent, there's the usual hubbub, it's quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with a friend or a group. How nice to have a cuppa with friends, and catch up, without shouting over the TVs, blaring music, and arcade games of most places. Plus, there's fresh pastries just down the aisle...

Located at the intersection of not 1, not 2 but 3, three roads... ha haha ha... (A little Lebron /…read moreThe Count mashup humor there) Lowes can cater to and elevate all of your grocery needs. I must admit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. So, after my mother convinced me to stop by Lowes I was pleasantly surprised with a chain that "gets it" here in town. Walking in I found the place to be extremely clean with some of the nicest employees I've come across since being back in town. Moreover, they're rather smart; strategically placing fresh baked focaccia bread close to the entrance, enticing one's stomach to influence the power of the purse. Next, I challenge anyone to resist their smoked foods as the air is heavy with the sweet perfume. Please note that Lowes carries a LOT of items customers will NOT find at other stores. From the towns best selection of cheeses, rack of lamb, watermelon radish and on the list continues, I encourage all those reading this to shop this store for those harder to find items. As for instore made items, I've tried a few and would like to report my limited findings. First, I bought a loaf of olive focaccia bread a noted weakness of mine. I found it be pillow-y moistness, bouncing back to the touch with a good fragrance however the amount of rosemary in it will repel even the most persistent of demons (odd refence). I bought another loaf of parmesan and I had the same issue, just way to rosemary which I happen to enjoy. I wish they had an alternative without the herb but other than that it's awesome. Another success in the bakery was the Bavarian donuts which I highly advise not buying as they're downright addictive. Soft, moist and a perfect chocolate to cream ratio these things are illegal in 5 surrounding counties! As for protein, I broke down and got the smoked chicken wings and macaroni salad for lunch. Again, this would be a resounding success if it weren't for one overwhelming ingredient; in this case salt. I'm of the belief they marinated these wings in the dead sea as it tasted as if the cap to the salt shaker fell off when seasoning these wings. Otherwise, these wings hit on all notes as they were moist and had the perfect amount of smoke. As for the mac salad, everyone has their version of what are perfect ingredients so I'll just add this, they perfectly cooked the pasta. That is to say the noodles weren't soggy or cooked to death; rather al dente which is perfect for the summertime favorite. As for addins I think they're ok but that's very subjective. Again, a certified hit. I did grab the sushi one day but I'm not a fan of grocery store sushi for the simple fact that the rice needs to be warm and the fish cold as it creates a contrast in the mouth. That said I got the fried shrimp sushi and it was just like any other store, not great. Nothing taken away as I realize most people are happy with this. My point is if I'm craving sushi a grocery store isn't the first thing that comes to mind as a true restaurant has better quality fish and a more diverse menu. To summarize Lowes is a great place to obtain those harder to find ingredients with the best in store created foods among all the competitors out there. The people here are very nice and willing to help however please note you'll need to obtain a card to get the discounts, the one down side of Lowes, is they're a little more expensive. However, "it's a small price to pay" for leveling up on the quality meter. This is my favorite grocery store in town and it's not even close.

About the only thing I like about this store is the bar with live music some days but makes me think what kind of wine am I getting. Parking is shared with other businesses in the area. The store parking lot and inside were extremely clean and well laid out. Granted, this is a new location, but you can see the hard work that the team put in to keep the store looking fantastic. Don't you love it when a business team member goes out of their way to make things right? That's exactly what the very nice lady at the bakery did this morning (I did not catch her name). She went out of her way to find me some bran muffins, and cracked open a package that had already been sealed from their bakery, Just so that I could have that Muffin! How cool is that?! Walking around at the store, I was asked by three different team members if I needed help. Awesome and appreciated! The deli and hot food service is the bomb! Fresh and hot and great selection. Located in a relatively easy to get in and out of location, depending on the time of day and…read moredirection, this Food Lion is a condensed grocery store. I'll be up front I've been twice, once in 2012 as I used to live half way across the US and last week as I recently moved back "home". After living in Texas and Kansas City I've grown accustom to larger and more robust stores with plenty of options like: full-service restaurants, different service stations like Chinese made to order, subs, desserts, you get the idea. Thus, it's somewhat hard for me to change my desired mindset as when I go the grocery store, I like to be able to get everything. For some reason this place depressed me walking in as if the ambiance is muted and dull; devoid of life. Psychologically this can and will affect shopping habits as normally I like to slowly wonder around and engage in impulse buying. No music, lack of interesting displays such as beverage displays stacked up like a castle, food I'm not familiar with and so on. After moving through to the produce section, I was unable to get things such as dragon fruit, the chives were old and decrepit, but at least the most of the other limited options were fresh. Moving down the bakery and dessert isle I was searching for something interesting to grab on the go. Needless to say, a lack of selection meant I wasn't swayed to buy anything as I thought "been there, done that." Curiosity did strike my fancy as I looked over the meat selection and my heart sank as I didn't see a great selection of ribeye with a more generous cap, no lamb, limited pork and poultry options. I found myself wanting to speed through just to be done with the experience. I did zip through the chips and little Debby isles as they had new items that came out at the beginning of the month, alas they weren't available. Checking out the clerk was extremely nice however she hit me with "do you have our card?" I don't like having to sign up for a card b/c just have the prices discounted up front instead of baiting the customer to become a member unless you're those uber big places. Finally, I tried to leave the way I entered and it's a one way. This irritated me as it's an inconvenience to walk around (I know I'm being petty walking another 15 or so yards, but still, it's the principal of the matter). As of writing this, I asked my mother if she liked the place and her opinion was completely different as she likes the size b/c she can get in and out quicker, the one-way door apparently was made b/c of shop lifting and she has a member's card. This is why yelp reviews are beneficial as we're all wired differently and no one experience fits all. For me I wasn't impressed and the only way I'd return is if I was in a rush and the item is common enough to know they would have it. This Food Lion isn't for me, but that's not to say it won't serve others well.
