Stopping in to Earth Fare I was curious what the place had in store (sorry for the bad pun) to satisfy my curiosity. I will say there's plenty of parking outside with a very clean parking lot. There isn't too much inventory spilling out into the front of the store, which is oh so trendy, but it's tastefully done. Walking in the place is extremely clean, after some of the places I've been recently, this is very refreshing. I'll get this out of the way up front. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help. read more

Fresh pressed juice is very refreshing and not very expensive compared to other places. ($6 for 12oz) Smoothies are the same price. This place is the best for all things clean and natural! They always have nice deals, especially in the "Reduced for quick sale" area. $2 for less desirable but still fresh produce. Cafe area has plenty of seating to enjoy a sandwich from the deli. The customer service has gotten so bad in recent weeks. Literally an employee watched me standing at the checkout line this morning for quite a while and never acknowledged me. I walked up to him (Frank) and asked if any one was available to assist me in checking out, he said yeah I see you, I was going to come and check you out. I'm thinking if you see me why was I left standing there??? Why did I have to walk over to you and ask you to come and do your job?? Honestly, I have encountered at least 3 employees at this store in the last 6 weeks that obviously hate their jobs based on their level of customer service. While I don't shop there exclusively due to their limited product offerings, I will likely try to find other stores to grab the few items that I would typically purchase, mostly fruit. read more

I've been stopping by this Earth Fare pretty regularly, and I have to say, it's one of the cleaner, more pleasant grocery stores in the area. The produce section always looks fresh, and I love that I can actually find organic options without digging around. It feels like a store that pays attention to the details. The staff has been friendly every time I've asked for help, and the overall vibe is calm--no chaotic aisles or cluttered displays. It's just an easy place to shop. My only reason for giving four stars instead of five is the pricing on some items; I get that it's an organic‑focused store, but a few things feel a bit higher than they should be. I was happy when Earth Fare reopened. A little disappointed that they no longer have their Sunday pizza specials. This was my go-to if I was returning home from an out-of-town trip and needed something to pick up for a quick meal. I will pick up their pre-made pizzas and just take it home and pop it in the oven and it was very reasonably priced. Please bring this back. There is just something about this store. When you walk in you can just tell you're in a wholesome, good quality store. They have a great health goods section if you're looking for specific vitamins and wellness products. Their meat department is superb. I enjoy the deli section and I still sometimes will get a pizza made to order. The employees are always very nice and helpful and make great suggestions when asked. The store is always neat and clean and it just has a great holistic vibe. Looking at some sprouts near the lettuce and use by date was 11/10/25. Today is 11/14/25. Thought I'd try their bakery sourdough boule and it has no sourdough flavor and is gummy; not happy. Not the first time I was at this store with expired items on the shelf. I think the Charleston store is better but a long drive. Perhaps the Summerville store needs new management. read more

I'm a regular Whole Foods shopper, specifically for meats and specialty items, like Thai basil, watermelon radishes and daikon. It's a haul to go to Mt Pleasant when I come home to visit my mom and sister. I was making Vietnamese noodle salads for our dinner and needed some items for the meal (rice noodles, bean sprouts and Thai basil), but Earth Fare didn't have them. so we had to settle for cilantro and mint for herbs, go to another store for rice noodles and skip the bean sprouts. While Earth Fare has some nice produce and other products, it's a small store so the stock is limited. It seems they carry the basics of a grocery store with some specialty health food items. If I were the owner, I'd try to appeal to the foodie who likes to try different cooking methods and cuisines. To me it's a miss by not carrying something like Thai basil and bean sprouts that might be needed for a special recipe. Anyway, this is bot where you'd want to do all of your grocery shopping, but it's worth a visit to see what you would want to buy from here vs regular grocery stores like Publix. My mom did buy a jelly she saw...I think it was pepper jelly, but it wasn't spicy enough for her so she bought a second jar at Publix. read more

Why didn't I see this place before. I found among other things Amaranth, this cereal or seed is loaded with fiber and protein and is very hard to find. Prices are a little higher but I get it, they have inventory tied up in some hard to find items. Everything looks clean and well organized. parking is ample. I like the deli especially their deli specials. I get the vegan chicken salad or pizza with the vegan cheese. Their beverages have such a variety. Some of the cashiers don't know certain things like the waste sticker you get discount off. read more

Lately I've gotten into bulk bin shopping. I find this a very cost effective way to stock up on some common foods. When I was price shopping, I found I was saving about $2 per lb in bulk from EF. The prices on chia seeds and quinoa was also less than buying at wally the only thing I still found less per pound at wally was dried beans (EF is organic though). I def skip the produce here because its all organic and I've realize that on average, you pay $2 more for something organic vs non. You can def find grocery items less priced here when they are on sale than elsewhere, but full priced items are way more than other places. This store is small, which is something I like because I can easily waste away a whole day in a large store when I'm reading labels and price comparing. After a few visits, you kind of memorize this store and that makes shopping a breeze. I read that you can bring your own containers to customer service and they will weigh them out before you head to the bulk but I haven't personally tried that yet. I have just saved and brought back the plastic ones you get there - doing better for the environment little steps at a time. If you are a rewards member, you get points for bringing your own bags, buying earth fare brands, and idk what else. I just got a 10$ off coupon from being a member. That makes shopping for specialty items and organic less painful! read more

What a fantastic Supermarket right on the doorstep to my daughters apartment. I guess I'll be doing the buying when I come visit as this store is a little too expensive for their student budgets and bland processed diet. I on the other hand loved it. They have a great all round selection of fresh meat & veggies. All organic here which is great. And after watching Food Inc the other night I will never again buy anything but organic foods again and lucky for me I can choose that option. They have ready made & freshly baked pizza, a little cafe, a butcher on site and very few name brands that you usually see in the supermarkets. It's pricier but you get what you pay for. The staff were super helpful and yes they do have sales. If you are astute you can certainly get some deals. Stop in, it's a trove of healthy goodies. read more

Our local Williamsburg store is nice and clean. If you sign up for the weekly add, they will send you coupons. Overall, it is kind of pricey, but there are deals to be had. The Earth Fare tortilla chips, blue, yellow or white. Big bag for $1. Seems like they are always this price. Thursday, Jumbo egg day, $1.99 per carton. The whole beef tenderloins will go sale for as low as $12.99 a pound. Used with a coupon, I can get a whole tenderloin, imported from New Zealand for just over 10.50 a pound. Keep an eye out on sales in their butcher and seafood counters. read more

I love Earth Fare and was so sad when they had to close last year. It was the one place that I could go to get everything on my list. They are back! However, their selection is quite lacking. I understand that this is a hard time to come back during a pandemic, so I definitely will give them that. But the prices are still a bit high and you honestly can't get a full carriage of groceries here yet. I am thinking that as things move forward perhaps things will change and the selection will be better. The produce section is painstakingly small and they have reduced their selection of bin foods. Currently, this is a good place to go if you are looking for packaged and frozen foods. I have found items here that I couldn't find through Whole Foods delivery or Publix. But at the end of the day...it isn't worth it if you need full groceries. Hopefully as we progress and things get better, this Earth Fare will be back to its old self. They do follow distancing guidelines and all staff are wearing masks. It is also mandatory for customers. Carts are sanitized and hand sanitizer is available for customers. read more

It's nice to have an Earth Fare in town, especially when Summerville is lacking any specialty health foods stores, like Fresh Market, Whole Foods, etc. even Trader Joes. Growing up in NC, Southern Season was always one of our favorite stores. Instead of driving all the way to MP for those listed above (except FM), this is a good alternative. Food: They offer a lot of ready to eat and nicely prepared good eats. They have an olive bar, freshly made pasta, salad bar, hot food bar including three kinds of rice (white, brown, and another one I forgot the name), pizza bar, sushi freshly made and another prepped food bar (requires cooking). In addition, they have a large selection of cheeses, meats, nuts, pasta, just to name a few. Lastly, the cookie and desert bar is a major hit, at least for my kids:) Service: They have nice, friendly staff who are willing to assist and answer any questions. The ones we dealt with all were extra nice, helpful, and have positive attitudes. Price: Good. They offer weekly specials which can be quite reasonable for those on a budget. In addition, check out their daily specials that are unbeatable! Location: Located right off of Main Street close to i26. You can pick up your groceries and goodies, as well as your pet food next door at the pet supermarket. Plenty of parking. The only downfall is the area gets pretty congested during rush hour. Unique products: They are known to offer some unique items not typically found in normal grocery stores or retail shops, like essential oils, gourmet food products, $1 baguettes... Well...I was at my desk wondering what the heck to get for lunch. I didn't have time this morning to make my own and I am kinda tired of the places around Azaela (sorry; I still love you Azaela). But I remembered there was an Earth Fare close by and got excited. I will eat a little healthy today! The hot bar said $7.95 for a pound of food. Done. I filled my tray with baked chicken, rice, carrots, asparagus and roasted squash and zucchini. I also went around and looked at the various things they had in the store. Pears caught my eye and Muesli bread! I have been looking for Muesli bread everywhere! What a treat! I quickly checked out and left for work. Once at work, I dug in to my lunch. The chicken was seasoned well. You could tell that they used minimal salt on it. No biggie. It was still good. The rice was ah-mazing! Y'all. It was so good! On to the carrots and zucchini/squash: they were roasted with minimal salt as well but with other things to flavor. The medley had onions and the carrots had an herb in which I cannot remember at this time. The asparagus was the best asparagus I've ever had. Lemony, flavorful and just the right amount of crunch: I was in love! My meal came out to $7.95 and I am not even mad. I love Panera Bread which is right down the road and their meals come out to over $10! So I will definitely be back to Earth Fare for lunch. read more

Eating healthy is on the top of my list of things to do each day! Earth fare is my go to grocery store in all of Charleston. This store is especially wonderful because of the customer service. I did my research, and I checked out the local brands that are being sold at this supermarket, And they are organic or as close as possible to organic, to include humane. I come to this grocery store about three days a week to get fresh meat and vegetables. I cannot find a store with meat prices cheaper than this at this quality! There is a lunch bar salad bar and olive bar to include a wonderful selection of cheeses organic beer and wine and health food snacks. Today I purchased organic bones for broth which I make it home. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful place that strives on excellence in serving the community with healthy foods! Thank you Earth fare for all that you do! read more

Life Hack: On Monday's, get the $5 organic rotisserie chicken and the salad deal of the week ($3.99). The chicken + salad are usually enough for 4 meals! I do a salad, a grain bowl and sauté the greens on the last day. The energy super salad + the kale Caesar are my fave. If they run out, get a rain check coupon. This is my fave grocery store - best, safe meat selection and their daily deals are phenomenal. I love the daily texts. The filet + lobster special is my favorite and makes a special treat affordable. P.s. Also, only place this side of the Ashley to get Mountain Valley Water. I enjoy grocery shopping here. The people are friendly, the store is always very clean, and it is very well lit. Lighting is a major factor for me when it comes to grocery stores. The butcher/meat department has a good variety of meats, seafood, and poultry to choose from. They offer a lot of cuts of grassfed beef at a great price. The also have preseasoned cuts of meat and seafood. The coffee rub on the steaks and the bourbon glaze on the salmon are my two favorites to get.They have a good amount of dairy free items as well. One day in the store my husband was in need of medical assistance, the store employees jumped to action as did some of the customers. They all quickly assisted him in any manner that they could. I could not thank them enough. The store manager took care of the grocery bill for the two customers that came to our aid. That gesture meant a lot to me because I was not able to thank them like I wanted to. Knowing that the manager did was very touching, and speaks to her character, generosity, and genuine care for others. So that is another reason why I always shop here too. read more

For my first visit here I was pleasantly surprised. Considering that Whole Foods is way across town this is the best option for my various fruits and veggies. Very nice and fresh selection of vegetable and fruits though I was expecting a bit more fruit variety. There were more apples than anything. The meat selection was very expensive but for what you get worth it. I've never paid $75 for one piece of meat but for the size and the fact that I can split freeze....meh I guess so. It was a nice slab of beef though. My only wish is that there was more of an international selection but for what they had it was ok. As a tea girl however, they will def have my business for that. Very nice large selection of teas. Will return again but with a slightly lower expectation. Customer service was great! read more

ok , I know their closing but that just doesn't give them the right to DATE CHANGE. We needed Mozzarella Cheese. All the packages were dated 2/19 . One had a double label slightly peeling off . When i removed the label i saw the date code on the previous label which indicated this cheese was PAST allowable selling date. Is this how All Earth Fares stores the operate. Just change the label and the HELL with the consumer. Happy they are closing .......hope no one suffered for other date changes. This cannot be tolerated in any food store...... read more

I've never been in here before, but they had a nice selection when we popped in the other day. We grabbed some chocolate milk (sooo good), some froyo, some pirate's booty (because I am an addict) and a few other small items. At the register, the cashier was very friendly and explained the glass bottle deposit and return policy (we had no idea) and was just very friendly in general, making small talk and not rushing us out of the store. Some of the prices seemed higher, but I think that's because the entire store is "healthy" and healthy items tend to have a premium on them. Everything is clean and well organized to help you find exactly what you need. They have a great selection of many healthy items that you can choose from. Their meat, deli, and cafe section really stand out here. I like that they also have an area to sit and eat or do some work or have a business meeting if you need to do so. We love Earth Fare organic, natural market at 1101 N Main St, Summerville, SC. We had a relative recommend us stopping in and we enjoyed every inch of this place.  From the bulk candy and trail mix section, to hearty vegetables and produce, the olive bar, the fish & meat counter with gorgeous looking cuts of each, and even the hot bar / seating area to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Went to this location twice and had an overall good experience. Last Friday, we went here to look around after dinner, it was my wife's first time here. I saw that there was grass fed Filet Mignon on sale and I wanted to grab some. We ended up getting that and some New York Strips for a reasonable price. We also picked up a Friday 6.00 take and bake pizza which was absolutely delicious! We got to add 2 toppings to the pizza and then we went home and baked it and it came out wonderfully! Overall the people there were friendly and it's a nice place. I think most of the items were pretty expensive, but you can find some gems in the bunch if you look for them. Keep track of their daily deals and that will help you find the cheaper than overpriced foods. read more

Produce is sometimes high but great sales and I get some organic here that I can't get elsewhere. I LOVE their meat Dept. The quality is fantastic. Sales are terrific and frequent. Animals raised according to practices I look for. it's grass fed high quality, not corn-finished. Best crab cakes....and GF too! It looks like a good seafood Dept. Love that they have a health/beauty Dept, great supplements found at health food stores and also bulk spices. They have small nut delicious selection on gluten free baked goods, and delicious items in regular bakery. They carry great milk options. Glass jars direct from single source farmer, low-heat pasteurized and no antibiotics or hormones. The pizza is real good. I think their coffee is organic and $1 a cup. Their prepared food and to-go food is very good. They have healthy products I can't get anywhere else in Summerville. The staff is really friendly. Re someone's "poor" review re eggs, if the seem over priced it's bec/they carry only the higher end eggs...pasture-raised, organic, etc... they don't seem higher than a Publix. read more

I work out next to the Earthfare in Summerville, and my class is over at 6:45. On Wednesday October 20th, I walked into Earthfare at 6:46 to be exact, and found that the fresh seafood was completely put away, and the meat was next to be put away.....AGAIN. Strange, as I have been told this department does not close until 7:00, which is pure stupidity anyway, since Earthfare is open until 9:00. I asked if it is possible to grab a few pieces of Salmon, and I was told no because "I have already put them away". When I said that I thought this department was open until 7:00, I was told he had to clean the case so that is why everything is put away. This has happened to me more than I can even remember. Funny, because the employees working here are clueless why they do not get more business. I have come in many times, and the fresh prepared food was completely covered up, and when asked if I needed anything, I found it comical I could not even see anything to make an order. Earthfare...why bother. Just close up again, and maybe we can get a healthy food chain that actually cares and supervises their employees. I will not return...ever read more

I don't live in Summerville so not a convenient place for me..I was just dining at the Persimmon Cafe in the same shopping center and stopped in after. I've been to this Earth Fare twice now and the first time walked out with nothing, and this time almost did the same, but for a different reason. The first time I went, the store layout is different from the Folly Rd store so I spent most of my time just figuring out what was where. While perusing this new location, it appeared they have the same concept as other locations, I just never saw anything I was used to buying. My friends and I get different dips, sandwiches, and other made in house items from the WA location often, I just didn't see anything I remembered liking. And finding an employee to say BOO to you was non-existent, so I left empty handed. I returned again knowing what I wanted. Having just left a friends house she had gotten this delicious bean salad off of the olive bar, so I went back to get some for home. $9.99/lb! YIKES, I only got a small scoop and still paid almost $4. Then I wanted fresh fruit. She had gotten this massive container for a very reasonable price, but of coarse they didn't have any of those prepared so I just grabbed some pineapple. I might have considered staying and looking for more, but when I got there I noticed one check out lane open. ONE?!!? This was the reason I almost walked out immediately but I really liked the salad and decided to stay. By the time I got in line I was behind 4 others and of coarse it's the check out guy that wants you to stick around for a while and chat. Obviously he was not concerned for all the people rolling their eyes and tapping their feet in the long line that was getting longer by the minute.
