Checked out this hidden location for lunch with husband. I picked up their ritual $2 offer chocolate protein smoothie while my husband opted for their açaí bowl. Unlike the other downtown location, this branch did not carry small size option. Their açaí bowl was ginormous (a bucket worth) and my husband struggled to make it to the half way mark. He opted for chocolate hemp milk as base and it made the açaí extra rich and creamy. The granola (even the bottom layer) stayed crunchy through husband's entire struggle. Sliced banana and strawberry were basic but essential - added the needed textual and flavor contrast. A very filling and worthy bowl - just wished they offered a smaller size option. My ritual special - chocolate protein smoothie made in chocolate almond milk - not overwhelming sweet and surprisingly refreshing. Satisfying but not enough to be an actual meal. Overall - $9 for an acai bucket with ample smoothie/shake options - my husband's new rotating lunch go to. read more

Sorry, a lot of great reviews here, but the Muscle UP smoothie I had tasted like the old school protein powder shakes I made as a kid, yuck! I'm sure it was healthy for me, but, I can now make a much better tasting protein smoothie than I had. I could not taste the Almond butter, and the banana was very feint, I'm assuming it was not ripe. If I do return, it will definitely not be for the Muscle Up smoothie. Walked to this location after they were out of granola on 6th. I still can't figure out how they ran out of granola at the other location. I ordered an açaí bowl here. It was HUGE! I guess you're supposed to share it with another person? I didn't know that. Hopefully it will store well in the refrigerator and I can eat the rest later in the day. I wrote the above review prior to trying it. After my first bite, this is my response: What was I thinking.. sharing this. I actually ate the whole thing in one sitting. It was just THAT good. I don't even know how I found out about this place, but I'm so glad I did!! Staff was friendly and could probably tell it was my first time there. I ordered the açaí bowl and the chocolate supreme smoothie. They were both SO delicious and didn't leave you feeling like you just consumed tons of sugar. The açaí bowl was definitely my favorite. The bottom layer was some sort of chia or powdery ingredient then the creamy açaí made up the bulk of it, and topped with plenty of bananas, strawberries, and granola. It was filling enough for a lunch and it was even hard for me to finish the whole thing! Will definitely be back. read more

Earthbar can be found in the new Equinox gym held in DTLA. They offer fresh juices, organic & raw cold-pressed juices, basic smoothies, power smoothies, and even healthy snacks and prepackaged lunches. I would recommend the green detox smoothie. You can't go wrong with greens. Try one of their cold & sinus shots that includes a wellness shot, horseradish, echinacea, and other herbs during that cold and flu season. Prices seem a little higher than average and range anywhere from $5-$10 for a single drink. read more

TEXTURE AND TASTE Soupy, slimy, foamy Acai. I assumed all Acai bowls we're alike. Never judge a bowl by its presentation but judge it by its quality. I thought I'd fall in love with this place because I'm on that hunt to find the best Acai Bowl but rather I'm contemplating if I should come back for a second bowl. ACAI BOWL ($6.75) - Acai blended with hemp milk, banana, and agave and topped with banana and strawberries. The Acai has a SOUPY, SLIMY and FOAMY texture with a somewhat bland flavor. If they don't blend in the banana and agave in with the Acai the texture and taste would probably be better. My Acai just tastes like banana. The blend in banana just killed the texture for me. It would be best to 1) place the Acai first 2) then add the granola 3) then drizzle the agave on top of the granola (so it doesn't make the Acai watery) 4) add the fruit toppings. I can't afford to go to the gym at Equinox, but I can get acai bowls at the Earthbar inside Equinox and pretend that I just came out of a cycle class with the other beautiful people there. Just kidding, maybe. Anyways, my brother swears by the acai bowl here. He told me that he can't really eat acai bowls from anywhere else because this is the best he's ever had. I didn't believe him and that's how I found myself here with a bowl the size of my head. Just a note, parking is the worst here. You're not going to find street parking so save yourself the 30 minutes and just pay for the parking lot. For $9, I expected a lot and I received a lot. This is a meal in a bowl. I don't usually recommend acai bowls as meal replacers because they're never filling enough but this guy will definitely fill you up. It might even work as two meal replacements. Comes with the usual bananas, strawberries, granola with a drizzle of agave. This is the creamiest and freshest tasting acai I've ever had the pleasure to eat. I think they were a little heavy handed on the granola but that's just a personal preference. I would have liked it more if they were more heavy handed with the fruit instead of the granola. I enjoyed a juice of apple, orange, kale, pineapple (I think) and then I added ginger to it, too. Bold and refreshing and totally hit the spot. This place has lots to offer on their own, and they have a very deep bench, too. (Or Fridge) I love how their retail items in the refrigerated areas feature some of my favorite other products: Prepared meals and snacks by Greenleaf; the hard to find Power Pancake http://www.mypowerpancake.com/index.html and, one of the two best cocoanut waters available (Look for raw, never cooked). If you're not careful, you can blow a lot of dough pretty easily, and quickly. The good thing, though, is that this stuff will taste great and make you feel like a million -- so, longterm, you'd probably end up way ahead. On the third floor, via elevator, escalator or stairs. One of the best Earthbars I've visited so far! I love a smoothie as a treat after a particularly sweaty workout, and I had a really great experience here. The staff was really patient with me as I tried to decide what I wanted to order. Love their Flax Master smoothie - it has so many good-for-you ingredients (protein powder, flax oil, B-12 oil, and a couple other ingredients that sound healthy but I don't actually know their benefits). My order was ready literally within 2 minutes, and it tasted perfect. Tip: Download the Ritual ordering app. You get $5 credit when you download the link, and they're running a $5 Flax Master promotion, so you essentially get a $12+ smoothie for free (otherwise I probably wouldn't usually pay the exorbitant prices). read more

Came here to grab a acai bowl for lunch. It is connected to equinox on the 3rd floor of the building. I have had my share of acai bowls but theirs is a little different. The texture was like watered down glue and there wasn't much taste. You get half a banana, a handful of strawberries and lots of granola which i liked. Just too bad the texture of the bowl was off. The service was quick though so my stars are for that. But I will go back to try their drink, hopefully they taste better. read more

I try to mix up the places I eat at downtown but I always find myself at Earthbar, and realized that the location inside Equinox is, by far, the best one! There is an outdoor patio for you to sit out with a nice view of downtown Los Angeles. The service is here is super efficient and they know their stuff! They offer a lot of different smoothies with a variety of ingredients you can choose from so you never are running out of options. Yeah, this place is fine. It's located inside the Equinox and you don't need a membership to access it. What's great about this place is that it's open after all the other DTLA smoothie/juice places are closed. I ordered the Great Breakfast and it was OK. It definitely satiated me but it didn't leave me wanting to come back here just for it. The other menu items aren't really exciting either. I'm pretty undecided if I will come here again. This is my favorite EarthBar out of all the EarthBars. It's not heavily stocked, has bad parking, blah blah, BUT the staff here is hands down the best. Amber and Oliver are amazing. Sweetest. People. Ever. Also the outdoor seating area has a great view. Staff here is super approachable too. If you want to buy something (for example, extracts, certain kinds of food, a pet monkey...), they'll get it for you within a few days to purchase if EarthBar usually does sell that item (#whattheydontsellmonkeys?? #womp).
