She been…read moreloving the decorations and Christmas lights she saw in our neighborhood or when driving around, so I thought this would a great family outing to close our the holiday season. If heard of Shady Brooks light show and has never been myself - neither had my boyfriend - so it was the first time for all of us. We paid in advance online and there was luckily a discount so we only paid $25 per car instead of the original listed price of $45 per vehicle. It's was about a 40 minute drive for us coming from the city and we luckily didn't have any traffic on our way there or back. When turning into their site, they had signs to direct you to the lanes/area to drive through the light show. Once we got to that area, we drove up to the booth so they can scan our ticket, handed us a newspaper/booklet to go with it, and we were on our way! The light displays, concepts and sections (e.g. "12 Days of Christmas" with 12 displays of drummers drumming) were very well done. Our little one loveeeeedd it - except for the Grinch of course because, he's the Grinch lol. It wasn't a short drive through but not too long either. Once we finished the light show, we did park and got out to take a quick look at what else was going on and get a lay of the land. Would definitely recommend checking this out for the holidays and we would come back to check out the playground for her, wagon rides, etc.

Five stars for their incredible holiday lights display! This is probably the most impressive…read moreholiday light display that I've ever seen. Prepare for around 30 minutes to drive through, but that will of course depend on how crowded it is. I don't love being outside in the cold, so absolutely loved that this was a drive through experience. Put some Christmas tunes on in the car and take in all of the magic! The enchanted forest and lit up trees was probably my favorite part. We only visited for the lights, but I've heard great things about all of the activities on the farm and would love to go back in the fall.

Playwicki Farm was once a rich farm growing their own crops and selling them roadside, this farm no longer grows crops but allows the local farmers and artisans to sell their wares and locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. During these three hours locals fill the park buying locally grown produce, fresh baked breads and sweets, homemade and all natural dog and cat treats, quiches, handmade jewelry and so much more. This was their first year and it was extremely successful and grew week by week with more vendors adding tables to sell even more, like homemade pickles, flowers and herbs, all natural soaps and soy candles. I found myself here almost every week and I was so happy to see that folks really do care about supporting the local farmer's, to me there is nothing better than buying the freshest local corn or just picked tomatoes, juicy strawberries and fruits. The coolest thing about the farmer's market at Playwicki Farm is it is on land that's' use dates back to prehistoric 6500 BC with archaeological finds and then through the period of contact of native American Indians and European colonists. Three circular buildings have been unearthed as well and they are still digging, Henry Mercer did the first investigation in 1893, Temple University, the Heritage Conservancy as well as other known groups of interest have on the 100 plus acres of land that belongs to the Playwicki Farm. The park is dog friendly and pretty well poop free due to many poop stations that encourage owners to scoop the poop! Miles of safe and friendly hiking, jogging or biking trails. Scheduled activities are always happening here such as flea markets, fun days and over the Christmas season, trees are brightly sparkling and sleigh rides end with hot chocolate and cookies for everyone and this is free with advance notice. This month alone, they had face painting, hay rides, pie contests, nature walks, scarecrow making and pumpkins to paint. The old farmhouse and buildings still stand as well and can be rented out for peanuts. The farm is literally right around the corner from my home and it is one cool park, I wonder what they will unearth next?

I knew nothing about BowlFace soups until stumbling onto them on Yelp while looking for a new lunch…read moreoption in town. Their distribution channels are still rather meager, but Organon the health food store on Route 413, Wrightstown, PA, has a selection in their back room frozen foods department. I picked up the Vegetarian Vietnamese Pho and Roasted Butternut Squash to sample a couple of flavors I normally love. Each plastic package was 12 ounces, enough for one meal. Stovetop or microwave for a few minutes and recycle the sleeve container. I slurped the pho today after shoveling the heavy fresh wet white precip that fell from early this morning. While it lacked the rich spicy lemongrass base of long time pot simmered stock found in Pho 75 and other good VN restaurants, and the thick nest of noodles and fresh pinched Thai basil leaves, it was pretty good for what it was - healthy nearly instant soup with only wholesome ingredients. A squirt of Sriracha for an extra kick and it was bowl rim to lips; bottoms up! Who had time for a spoon? BowlFace! I'll be back here after trying the Butternut Squash, but wanted to review the Pho while it was still warming my stomach. Gotta say this is a bit of a homer epistle, as I am very happy that Newtown's entrepreneurial spirit is thriving even in the Age of Covid.

My favorite soups are the Thai Butternut and the Vietnamese Vegetable Pho. The Thai Butternut warms you up on a cold day with the ginger. The Pho is full of mushrooms and herbs. I wish they were available all year around. The good thing about the packaging is that it freezes well! So I recommend stocking up on your seasonal favorites. Besides soup, they offer dips and macaroni and cheese. And most recently they have added salad dressing. So far I have only tried the Pickle Sriracha Dip but I have the Buffalo Cauliflower Dip in my fridge. The Pickle Dip was amazing, I can't wait to grab some more next time I'm at Organnons. If you like pickles, you'll love the Dip! I'm looking forward to Summer and trying more soups! You can check their website to see where you can buy locally. They are usually a vendor on Saturdays at the Wrightstown Farmer's Market. You can also find them at Organnons, Tanner's and I see them occasionally at GI Juice in Buckingham.
